Outstanding location. Quiet, secluded but only a few minutes walk into Donegal town. Marie is an excellent host, has great knowledge of the local area and serves a great breakfast. From Donegal town, there are many scenic drives and dramatic landscapes to explore on the North Atlantic coast. if you plan to stop in Donegal, pick this B&B.
Our tour company booked The Water's Edge on our behalf and first we were a little superstitious when our internet search showed a cemetery right in its backyard LOL but let me tell you this place is STUNNING! The house is beautiful, fully modern, the rooms were gorgeous and spacious! Our bathroom was spacious as well since we had the family room. The views of the Donegal Bay and the Donegal Abbey were so beautiful and peaceful. I would gladly stay here again if given the opportunity. The town is just a few minute walk if you cut through the Abbey, best shortcut ever! Within mins you are right in the heart of the town complete with restaurants and storefronts. You had the choice between 2 breakfast options, would have liked if the host popped in to check if we needed anything else but other than that breakfast was delicious. Please note to bring your own toiletries as soap and washcloths are not provided.…
We have nothing but great things to say about the Water's Edge Bed and Breakfast. Marie is so personable and helpful. The house is immaculately clean and very comfortable. Breakfast was delicious each day. The B&B is a 10 minute walk from the center of town and there is sidewalks the whole way, so there is no need to drive when going to dinner and drinks. Donegal is a lovely place, we wished we had spent more time in the area. Very reasonable rates. Highly recommended!
Wendy was a welcoming, yet non-intrusive host. We had a double room with a peaceful view of the water. We appreciate hot drinks being available all the time in the dining room. Would have appreciated some toiletries for the shower. Delicious breakfast! I recommend the pancakes and the cooked option. Remember to bring cash to pay, but several cash point in the town centre which is 10 mins away. Great setting next to the ruined Abbey.
Beautiful view of Donegal Bay. So relaxing in the afternoon to grab a cup of hot tea and sit in the garden and enjoy the view. Comfortable, clean room. Marie is very friendly and offered great suggestions for dinner. Loved the pancakes and fruit for breakfast. A good change from the Traditional Irish breakfast. Hubby enjoyed the eggs and salmon for breakfast. Enjoyed strolling through the historic Abby behind the B & B. Very close to town to walk.
