Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Happened to stay here by chance while on business. Priced well for what you get. Room was spacious and clean. Shower was good which I really like as often poor in hotels. Very central to pubs and restaurants

My husband and i wanted a quiet week end in Cork in September. It was a last minute decision and we booked East Village. Having made the booking I saw some reviews saying that it was noisy. I emailed the hotel asking for a quiet room.
When we arrived we found parking right outside the door. The man at reception gave us a slip of paper giving us free parking for the week end. The entrance and reception area is a bit "tired" looking however our room was spotless and had a little balcony. The hotel is on the bus route into the city with a good service. The village of Douglas has some lovely restaurants and pubs. We ate in Bullys which was very nice.
We arranged room service for our breakfast on booth mornings of our stay. We regularly do this but this hotel is the only one I have ever stayed in that gives you a call to see if you are ready for breakfast. Breakfast was delicious on both mornings.
When we were leaving I went to pay the bill and got a lovely surprise when the guy at reception said to me that our breakfast in bed was " on the house and maybe they would see us again" I can assure you they will.
Perfect place for a city break.

Myself and a few girls from work decided to eat here after a long day. The bar was very busy as the Ireland/England game was on, great atmostphere. We had a couple of drinks outside as the bar was standing room only. When we decided to eat (approx 9.30)the bar was still packed so the waitress recomended we go upstairs. As we entered the restaraunt I caught one of the severs looking at his watch and actually swearing that we arriving at this time. (last orders 10pm). The girl that served us was lovely but the former left me reeling. I work in the hotel industry and have always recomended East Village as a great eatery and bar venue, I will be slow to do so in the future. The food was lovely and the buzz was great around the place but in the future I would prefer to spend my hard earned money somewhere I am not such an inconvience.

Myself and my friends often frequent this bar, we spend alot of money here whether its on food or alcohol, well my last experience here was absolutly disgraceful and we will NOT be returning, its a shame that such a nice bar let themselves down by hiring the most useless, uneducated bouncers. On approaching the door at a reasonable time of 11pm on a saturday night we were told to step aside, this was to allow a group of 'regulars' in, when attention was turned back to us, Norman the supposed head bouncer told us 'NO'. It is known that Norman picks and chooses who he allows in, but this was the last straw for me, managment of east village would really want to rethink who they have mananging the door....NEVER AGAIN..!!!!

Attended this establishment on a date night. Booked a table in advance. When we arrived the restaurant was nearly empty, but no table had been reserved for our booking so all window tables were gone. We were handed menus at the door and told to pick a table.
Ordered food, but still deciding on drinks. Didn't see waitress again til the starter came.
Starter of fajitas was nice. However, we both ordered steak , medium. One was fine the other however was near raw in places. I wouldn't even call it rare tbh. Neither were hot.
We were offered a drink or dessert each when we complained.
I have to say it was over priced. City centre prices in suburbia. Would not recommended.

It was very noisy at night, the room wasn't very comfortable, and the bathroom was grubby. The tv reception was poor, and the channel selection bad. Staff weren't very friendly. The bar was extremely busy and noisy all night. At 3am I was woken by a fight on the street below my window. I was given the wrong information about parking when I rang to make the booking, and as a result, my car was clamped while staying there, and I received no apology or compensation from the management of the hotel.

Stayed In This Hotel on Thuraday night. Not a pleasant experience.
There are not parking facilities for guests, the parking outside hotel is public parking, very which is difficult. I was told to wait 1 hour by which time the area would clear, but that did not happen, so parked in Mc Donald's public car park close by.
Then went into my room which stank of cigarette smoke, I asked to be moved but was told no other rooms were available.! I was given an air freshener !!!The pillow and Quilt also stank of smoke, it was disgusting. There was an ash tray in the room, so obviously they allow smoking in the rooms.
Bathrooms are filthy, Breakfast was served, in the bar downstairs. My coffee, and Muesli was served which I requested, I haven't finished when I was served an omelette ( which I ordered) it was just left on the table, so by the time I was ready to eat it Yes it was cold.
The rate for the night €70 !!
Never again.....

The east village is a bar/restaurant, and they should leave it at that. It is not a hotel worthy of the title. I have just spent 3 nights on business in cork, and as a frequent traveller & user of hotels & b&b's, this ranks as one of the worst places to stay. My room wasn't cleaned on day 2, there was no hot water to shower, the bed was really uncomfortable and on Sunday, the noise from the bar was unbearable, and it was hard to sleep. I complained about the water & room and was told a guy was coming from Kerry to fix it. Seriously, no one in cork could fix it? There was never anyone at reception, and at breakfast time, I had to knock on the kitchen door to ask the chef could I be served. If you are looking for somewhere to stay in cork, steer clear of the east village. The food was good.

Fine. I like East village, even though from your wallet there's a bit of a spillage.
The pint of water I had tasted marvellous, only real complaint is that it didn't give me a sense of a village in the Asia.
