Nestled close to the city center, The Montenotte Hotel charms with its chic decor and sophisticated ambiance. Guests often rave about the stunning views, particularly from the Panorama restaurant and Glasshouse bar, and commend the luxurious spa among the hotel's top-notch amenities. The service at Montenotte receives high marks for its friendly and professional staff, and the hotel's cleanliness is consistently applauded.
While the stylish rooms are generally appreciated, some guests feel they lack modernity. Opinions on value are divided, with some finding the experience worth the cost and others less convinced.

We spent the October bank holiday weekend in one of the fantastic River Suites. Myself and my wife were blown away by the whole Woodland Experience.
The River Suite was amazing. The view, the facilities and the nightly turndown service with chocolates on your pillow - perfection. The evening Sundowner cocktails with accompanying canapes were also greatly enjoyed.
Every staff member we interacted with was so friendly, attentive and professional.
We had one dinner in the Panorama restaurant - lovely view and the food was fab. The beef wellington is highly recommended!
We used the Salt Room which was a lovely relaxing experience.
The Glasshouse cocktail bar was great. Lovely atmosphere with some great entertainment from Velvin Lamont.
Didn't get to visit the leisure club or the cinema. We will certainly be back and we'll have our cinema night then!
One small issue was that we went to run a bath on Sunday evening and hot water was in short supply. Literally the only small issue over an utterly fantastic and unforgettable weekend.

This place is such a hidden gem. I never even heard of this hotel until we went looking for a new years eve family booking. It was an amazing trip and we will definitely be back. The views are stunning, the location close to town is ideal and the whole decor is luxurious at a decent price. The leisure centre is one of the most cleanest I've come across and the gym is huge. Only issue was water could have been slightly warmer considering the season. The breakfast offering was absolutely amazing although the service on the new years day wasnt on par with the previous day. Long waits on orders and coffee and having to go find staff. That said though we had a lovely young guy do his beat to make everything perfect so well done! Couple of negatives...the cinema is a great idea but not for the kids which they were disappointed with. We could not get the temperature in our room warm no matter what we tried. Small fridges in family rooms would be ideal to keep some drinks and small items cool. Reception check in could have explained a little about amenities and times etc it was lacking information and when we got to our room there was a brochure on the pillow for the spa yet we knew it was booked out doe our entire stay as I had tried to book a treatment for my wife...bit of a red herring!! But these are only observations and would never stop me.from coming back our kids already want me to book for next new years. Also an idea for the hotel would be to maybe look at investing in an electric people carrier to shuttle guests into the city. It's super close.but at the end of the day shopping or night out the walk back is not for the faint hearted!

My sisters and I stayed here for 1 night, we are actually from Cork but wanted to get out and about post lockdown. The deal the hotel was offering was amazing; early check-in and late check-out was ideal. From the minute we arrived to the hotel we were made feel so welcome. The reception staff in the hotel were so friendly and even phoned us when we were in the room to check that everything was to our standard. We had drinks & nibbles on the terrace which is just stunning, and there is great views of the city. With the flowery decor, fabulous cocktails and the music playing we all agreed we felt like we were on a proper girly holiday abroad...when in fact we were just 30mins up the road from home! We walked into town for dinner and it was about 15mins quick walking to get right in the middle of town. When we arrived back to the hotel they were showing a movie in the hotel’s Stella-like Cinema. We made a reservation for the pool the next morning and when we arrived down it was just us 3 and another couple in the pool so we felt very safe. Overall 5star experience, super staff and we will definitely be back to the terrace for cocktails in the future!

A friend and I stayed here on 11th Sept 2020, we booked in on a Friday evening, chilled out with 45 mins in the pool followed by dinner in the restaurant. The staff were really helpful and friendly and the food was amazing - as was breakfast the following day.
Saturday we wrapped up the weekend with Spa treatments - a great way to wrap up our stay. The therapist listened to my requests and tailored the package for me.
Regarding Covid - the hotel was spotless, all staff had visors or masks on them and the pool only had 6 people at a time in there so we felt very comfortable.

I stayed here the past weekend with my husband, we booked it about 2 months ago thinking that Covid would be somewhat over but it wasn't to be but we need not have worried because this hotel its staff & management were really well organised.
Our room was really nice and the bed was a superking so lots of space and it was so comfortable too, the food was amazing we ate in the hotel Saturday night in the Panoramic Bar I think it was and everything from the starters to the dessert was delicous and so was the wine. The rooms are really clean as is the whole hotel and there was alway cleaning staff around doing the bathroom and other areas which was reassuring, the hotel booked a restaurant for us for the Friday and they were so helpful whenever we asked them any questions.
There is beautiful gardens to walk in and the pool is nice too, spotless changing room and really clean over all.
This hotel is one of my favourites now and I will definately be back, the staff are the reason I think this hotel is so enjoyable everyone is really friendly, mannerly and professional & they know how to do 5 star customer service.
Maybe when Covid is over the management should throw some sort of party to thank their staff for working so hard and making it a hotel where people will want to return.

Originally I had booked to stay 1 night but decided before the trip to book-in for a 2nd! I had been here before for drinks so was very excited to stay as I’d heard only good things! The front car park was full when we arrived so we had to park in one of the others which was a small bit away from reception and found the signs not very clear where to go! This seemed to be the same inside the hotel as we struggled to navigate the way to our room. The rooms were very warm however, we had a fan in it to cool it down which did the trick! The only fault with the room was the bathroom was very small, there was barely space to put your toothbrush! The complimentary toiletries were left on the back of the toilet, there was no space around the sink which made doing make up a chore! You’d never manage if there were a few girls sharing a room! The hotel itself is about a 20minute walk to town, as the weather was sunny this was a pleasant jaunt. We never ate in the hotel as we found the breakfast was very overpriced (€18.50 per person per night too expensive!) but we did enjoy a drink on the fabulous balcony which had lovely views of the city! All in all it was an enjoyable stay and I’d recommend to others but would suggest eating out as cork has ample amount of fabulous restaurants and cafes for a fraction of the price!

Very positive, professional welcoming booking experience. It gets even better as soon as you step into the lobby, A warm welcome radiates from the professional, friendly and up beat front of house team. The welcome is very real and heartfelt.
The hotel is spotlessly clean, the gardens front and back have been manicured to perfection. Bedrooms are also spotlessly clean, very tastefully decorated with great care is taken to continually refresh the rooms and public spaces. Within the hotel I felt safe and safeguarded in these pandemic times with multiples of precautions, including noticeably more members added to the hotel's cleaning teams.
This is very definitely a family friendly hotel. I observed staff making additional efforts to help families with young children.
I am a frequent visitor to the hotel. My experience has been that nothing stands still here. There is a very strong program of continuing to change and improve multiple aspects of the visitor experience.
The hotel is wonderfully situated with superb views from the restaurant out over Cork. The restaurant staff are very welcoming and obviously aware of the need to make sure all guests are safeguarded. Service is professional and attentive.
When I stayed the Covid-19 restrictions were still in place but have since been lifted. A brand new terrace bar was being finalised when I stayed. Even unfinished it looks stunning. I can't wait to try it!
Thank You Team Montenotte.

Dear maurice350, It's always our absolute pleasure to welcome you back to The Montenotte Hotel. I really want to thank you for all of your feedback from your most recent stay and for spreading the word on your experience with us. Upon reopening we really tried extremely hard to implement new safety procedures without compromising on the luxury our return guests have come to expect and love about the hotel. So I am delighted to see your appreciation for this and also for the friendly and professional service delivered by all of the team. The final touches to our new rooftop bar The Glasshouse are now in operation so I look forward to welcoming you back to try it once it opens in the coming week. Thank you once again for always choosing The Montenotte Hotel and taking the time to share your experience. Stayed here for 2 nights last weekend as a group of 2 couples for my husbands birthday. Check in was easy and the receptionist was informative and made some suggestions of places to go.
We arrived late so decided to stay and eat in the hotel restaurant. The restaurant had a lovely atmosphere and was decorated in a contemporary yet traditional style and menu although a tad on the expensive side had a wide choice.
Unfortunately the service lacked somewhat, we had to ask for the drinks menu twice and it took half an hour before we got to sip a glass of wine. We were told that there was only one copy of the drinks menu in the entire restaurant because they were in the process of changing it... Sorry but this is just ridiculous... At least photocopy it if you realise this is the last one!
When we had ordered the lovely waiter informed us that there wasn't enough for a full bottle and gave us a taster of 2 others. This was then followed by some confusion/language barrier when we asked for the difference of the 2 wines (5euro) to be waived as the one we orignally ordered was less expensive, this resulted in a female manager coming over to resolve. Whilst polite there was a lack of hospitality and customer service here, considering how long we were waiting and the let downs in service with the menu and the wine she refused to waive the difference stating that she couldn't amend the bill.
The food arrived and all dishes were lovely. We also ordered coffees and deserts, again one of the deserts wasn't available so we had to choose another-a simple communication breakdown between the kitchen and waiting staff but one which let the overall experience down.
To the managers credit she did then remove the cost of the desert and coffees from the bill which was appreciated however lesson's should be taken from this to improve customer experience and avoid this niggles in service.
The roof terrace is lovely and it's great that they have heaters and blankets so it can be enjoyed in the winter. Would love to return in the summer as it has a great view over Cork.
Didn't use the spa and pool as we were short on time however would like to if we return, although spa prices seemed expensive and I didn't see any discount offered for staying guests which is a bit of a shame.
Rooms were lovely and beds very comfy. Had a good sleep both nights although got a rude awakening when the fire alarm went off twice on the Sunday morning due to a fault. Luckily we didn't have to vacate but it did wake us up earlier than we would have liked. Management did drop a message through the door to explain it was a technical issue and apologised which was appreciated. The black out curtains were great and ensured a good sleep.
Breakfast was fantastic and there was lots to choose from including fruit, cereals, pastries, full English and fresh juices. Really nice although again a bit pricy in my opinion. Suggestion would be to include baked beans which seemed to be the only thing missing from the hot selection.
Overall we had a good stay and would probably stay here again, although would be tempted to look for a hotel in the city centre. Only little things let this experience down which is why we rated our stay as a 4 not a 5.

While there were many excellent parts of our stay at the Montenotte, the friendly staff and excellent food, we found that there were quite a few areas that let the hotel down. For a start we were not informed that the gardens were technically closed due to a massive building site in the middle of the hotel grounds. While we understand that the building work has to be done, we would have preferred to have been told that these works were being carried out. The main attraction of the Montenotte for us was the large gardens that overlooked the city that you could look out on. Having them closed off and building works going on instead was a huge let down that we would have preferred to have been notified of. Secondly we were given robes that were not disposable, they were reused robes that were clearly washed well past their due date as they were like sandpaper on the skin. The straps of my robe were ripped which was such a minor yet important detail that really let down the hotel. It’s small details like this that make the whole experience and when you pull out a ripped robe that feels like sandpaper it does not set a good image for the hotel. Thirdly, the TV in the room was placed in the corner so that it was not visible from the bed unless you literally hanged off the side. Again it’s these small details that make an experience. We found the staff to be very friendly and helpful however there were certain things during our stay that just weren’t up to the perfection standard that the montenotte claims. There was dust around the room and the top of the radiator was bent out of shape, an easy thing to fix or replace. I would not return to this hotel given its price compared to the services and amenities provided.

Dear 6615ghtp, Thank you so much for taking the time to review your recent stay at The Montenotte Hotel. I’m delighted to see that you enjoyed certain aspects of your stay such food and service provided by the staff. However, I did want to touch base with you and apologies for the short-comings you did encounter during your stay. With regards to our Victorian Gardens, they are indeed open for guest of the hotel to visit during their stay. We did have to arrange an alternative entrance for this as we are currently in the process of building g a new rooftop bar to further enhance guest experience. I am sorry that this was not made clear to your during your stay. I will be sure to speak with the Front of House Team and ensure that they pass this knowledge on to our residents to avoid future incidents. I was surprised to read your feedback regarding the bathrobes as we order the highest quality of bathrobe available. I have personally spoke to our supplier to relay this information and can only hope that this was an isolated incident. Thank you so much for bringing this to my attention as any issues such as this must be monitored and resolved immediately and should we not know, we may not have addressed this. We have a lot of exciting plans scheduled over the next few months, with the addition of our new rooftop bar and many other projects which are due to take place and I would love for you to reconsider the possibility of returning to the hotel at some point in the future for your too see this first hand. Should you ever wish to return, I would love for you to contact me directly and I will personally oversee your reservation and ensure we go about making up for the shortcomings you did encounter. Kind Regards Danielle Bennett Assistant Guest Relations Manager Guestrelations@themontenottehotel.com

+1
We stayed as a family (two children 5&7) for a short break. The hotel is about 15mins drive from the airport and only about 20mins gentle walk down hill into the city centre. There is ample free parking and we had a lovely 2 bedroom apartment which was well equipped with washer drier, 2 bathrooms, well equipped kitchen (enough to cook up a full Sunday roast!)/ large sitting room with digital tv you could log in to Netflix etc. (remember to logout after as our predecessors hadn’t)
The restaurant is beautifully decorated with large windows on to the terrace, overlooking the city and river. The terrace has heaters and was lovely for cocktails or a post breakfast coffee. There are also gardens below with steps to a fountain and interesting areas and sculptures to explore.
The food is superb- breakfast is a lovely buffet with a la carte options too. The restaurant has a childrens menu and a very good ‘adult’ menu with steaks and more interesting other options such as duck and monk fish.
Most importantly the staff are delightful. Dagmara remembered my tea preference each morning, one the of the lovely waiters helped our 5year old get some apple juice and then walked behind him wiping up the drips as he tried to carry it back to the table! Vorneen on reception very kindly gave us recommendations for outings and eateries and printed out some tourist info and then delivered it to our room.
The only tiny negative is the pool is a bit chilly for families as it’s more of a ‘swimmers’ pool and of course the boys were too young to be allowed to warm up in the jacuzzi.
Would definitely stay again and whole heartedly recommend!

Yes it does
We never had a problem with parking the week we stayed there.
Montenotte Hotel is directly uphill from the bus / train station... definitely walkable for the able-bodied, or a short taxi trip.
Hi DontASk33,
Many thanks for your question and your interest in The Montenotte. We don’t have an in room movie system however we do have over 30 Tv Channels available via our in room TV’s. We also have very fast Free Wifi throughout the hotel so platforms such as Netflix work seamlessly and of course there is also the option of our in house Cinema.
I hope this helps, please let me know if we can be of any further assistance.
Warm regards,
Brian.

I do not think so. I have never seen an animal in the public areas and when I stay to be hinest because of allergies I always ask if a room is both pet and smoke free.Sorry
