Nestled close to the city center, The Montenotte Hotel charms with its chic decor and sophisticated ambiance. Guests often rave about the stunning views, particularly from the Panorama restaurant and Glasshouse bar, and commend the luxurious spa among the hotel's top-notch amenities. The service at Montenotte receives high marks for its friendly and professional staff, and the hotel's cleanliness is consistently applauded. While the stylish rooms are generally appreciated, some guests feel they lack modernity. Opinions on value are divided, with some finding the experience worth the cost and others less convinced.

We stayed for one night recently at the Montenotte, because we were attending an event in town. The staff are attentive and friendly, and nothing is too much trouble for them.
I wish we’d had a chance to go to the cocktail bar, but I had a look into it the next day, and we will definitely be returning for a night there.
We reserved a basic room, but it was comfy and clean, with a lot of little thoughtful touches like a wine opener, nice bathroom, sterilised remote control, etc. The hotel is up a hill, just out of town, but is totally within walking distance if the weather is ok, and has easily available taxis at all times (we got taxis from there at 7pm and 2am). But if you’ve got a night out planned in McCurtain street, for example, where you’ve got McCurtain wine cellar, Cask, and Paladar for wine and cocktails, and a number of excellent restaurants, it’s extremely easy to walk down there, and back up. Because of its location, though, it’s peaceful and quiet and there are plenty of trees so you’ve got that resort feeling. It’s been years since I stayed at the Montenotte, and it’s impressive how much effort and planning they’ve put into improving the hotel, the grounds and the amenities. Breakfast was also lovely, with both a good hot buffet and a menu to order from. Coffee from a real machine, too, thankfully not that pour over stuff in a silver pot that hotels are usually so fond of serving.

We spent the October bank holiday weekend in one of the fantastic River Suites. Myself and my wife were blown away by the whole Woodland Experience.

The River Suite was amazing. The view, the facilities and the nightly turndown service with chocolates on your pillow - perfection. The evening Sundowner cocktails with accompanying canapes were also greatly enjoyed.

Every staff member we interacted with was so friendly, attentive and professional.

We had one dinner in the Panorama restaurant - lovely view and the food was fab. The beef wellington is highly recommended!

We used the Salt Room which was a lovely relaxing experience.

The Glasshouse cocktail bar was great. Lovely atmosphere with some great entertainment from Velvin Lamont.

Didn't get to visit the leisure club or the cinema. We will certainly be back and we'll have our cinema night then!

One small issue was that we went to run a bath on Sunday evening and hot water was in short supply. Literally the only small issue over an utterly fantastic and unforgettable weekend.

Having recently been lucky enough to enjoy the Montenotte Hotel's newly launched 'Woodland Suite Experience,' I can attest that it was absolutely incredible from the moment we checked in to the moment we sadly had to leave.

Everything was wonderful and quite unique from beginning to end; warmest of welcomes, wonderful staff, exceptional attention to detail, beautiful design (everywhere you look and feel), consistently warm hospitality and delicious food and cocktails. Huge thank you to everyone we met, each and every personal, professional and perfect touch added an extra layer of excellence to our experience.

To name a few... thank you Danielle, Ken, Victoria, Sarah, Jessica, Martin, Fabio, Émelio and Albert. General Manager Fritz and Director of Business Development Ray; you have a team to be super proud of and theirs, and your own pride, for this new Woodland and River Suite experience was palpable and 100% justified⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️❤️

From the moment we were comfortably whisked away in a luxury buggy to the stunning urban estate, every detail was designed to impress. After check in with a glass of champagne at the breathtaking private club bar with enviable views of the River Lee and Cork City, we stepped into our designer treetop suite, a unique urban oasis / paradise.

The suites exquisite fixtures, from marble sink to the sleek, hidden shower room, and the stylish essentials, invite you to explore every perfect corner. And with the balcony doors closed, the silence is pure bliss.

We visited the spa, and later strolled up the manicured path to the restaurant. The short walk enhanced by an outdoor art exhibition.

Dinner was delightful, and after an impressive cocktail nightcap at the Glasshouse, we took a magical nighttime buggy ride back to our 'heaven on earth' suite, time to relax in a luxurious bath, complete with floating candles.

My husband and I would highly recommend this incredible experience, and can't wait to return! 🌳 #hinttohubby

Plan to experience it for yourself soon, before you can't get in! Maybe for a special occasion, or maybe just to make your next stay in Cork city extra special - you won't regret it!

They even plant a native Irish tree on the West Coast of Ireland on your behalf thanks to your visit as part of their Nights-for-Nature initiative contributing to a healthier ecosystem #lovethis

From the minute we arrived at the Montenotte Hotel the service and staff were incredible! The doorman was a breathe of fresh air, the reception staff were very polite and helpful, the dinner staff were very attentive and friendly and the waiter bringing us our cocktails was exceptional. The food was fantastic, as well as the cocktails we enjoyed on the terrace.
For us, the Montenotte out did a couple of 5* places we've visited in Ireland!
Can not wait to go back.

We had a wonderful stay at the Montenette. The service was top notch, the hotel was clean and felt very upscale with wonderful views of the city. The location is a bit out of the way from the hustle of downtown which was nice but there are still several restaurants and pubs within a 5-10 minute walk. We really appreciated talking to the concierge every morning who gave us amazing suggestions on where to go, even where to park when we got there. Cork was a great place to visit and we would definitely stay here again if we ever get back to this amazing city.

This is a hotel that is deserving of the great feedback. Arriving at reception they are thorough in detailing all you need to know and more. The rooms are very clean and exceptionally comfortable. You know when you see SMEG appliances in your room that its special. We were meeting clients so a reservation was made in town at a restaurant but we came back to sit outside on the balcony for a nightcap. The staff were once again friendly. Upon getting back to the room, the curtains had been closed, glasses and water were placed next to the bed with chocolates. In the bathroom the shower mat was laid out for the next day and the great personal touch of a welcoming hand written card lay on the table. No leaf unturned with their attention to detail. Breakfast was excellent. My only regret wasn't maximising the use of all facilities so there is only one thing for it......I will have to come back. Don't just take my word for reasons to stay at this hotel........treat yourself and book now.

Purchased the Bubbles & Spa Package around a month ago for a little birthday getaway for 2 people, upon arrival we were greeted by Ken at the door and Maria at reception, both great and very helpful throughout our stay. We were both looking forward to the deep tissue massage, which was supposed to be the highlight of our stay. We were called by the spa as soon as we arrived at the hotel, asking to come in earlier to make use of the salt room before our massage, so that’s what we did. Before the massage, when going through my details I highlighted I was looking for a deep tissue back massage, but unfortunately my expectations weren’t met. The massage was very light, it felt like she was stroking my back rather than actually massaging it, it wasn’t what I asked for at all, unfortunately this applied both massages, we both left very disappointed. Our package also included a ‘glass of bubbles’ after the message, which was never offered as we were rushed out as soon as our massages were over as they were closing. We didn’t let this bother us too much as we also had a dinner included with the package, the set menu given to us didn’t include the nice main courses the a la carte menu had, like the duck, the monkfish, the steak or the beef Wellington. I have always wanted to try the beef wellington so I asked if I could be able to order it for an extra supplement, the waiter agreed saying it would be around 20 euro for the supplement, I was very excited about it. He then returned shortly after saying I unfortunately had to stick to the set menu, which again was very limited to the curry, pasta, chicken and fish of the day. Disappointed once again, we decided to go after dinner to get a drink at the glasshouse, which looked stunning from the pictures previously seen online, but that wasn’t the case, as its only open two days a week, leaving us the only choice to go to our room and call it a night at 9:30pm. The hotel is very nice and staff was welcoming, but would not recommend the spa package for €560 a night. Porter Ken was the highlight of our stay, a real asset to the hotel.

We stayed at this hotel in may 2023 and we could not rate it highly enough. Unfortunately our recent stay was not as enjoyable. Upon check in, we were unable to pay cash as the reception is now cashless. Very inconvenient considering we brought all cash. The glasshouse is also cashless.
We brought our bags to our room which looked out on the carpark, paying over €200 a night we requested an alternative room which was honoured immediately and we were grateful for this.
We then ventured to the bar (which still accepts cash) for a drink and some food to be told that they are only serving starters, no main courses available.. Not ideal after driving for 2.5 hours.
Pool area was a bit grubby and changing rooms are freezing.
Good points are the staff, they're very friendly and they work hard to provide a good service.
Like I said above, it's doubtful we will return as I feel there are better value hotels (that still accept cash) in Cork.

We ended our first trip to Ireland in Cork for 2 nights at The Montenotte Hotel. Our room was in the new Woodlands suites on the river. Luxury and thoughtfulness at every turn. The full sliding glass doors with a view to the river leading to a patio added to the open feel of the room. The hotel sent a questionnaire prior to the visit requesting any needs or special requests. When we arrived they had my whiskey and my wife’s wine we requested waiting. The suites have their own lounge area for breakfast / tea / happy hour and it was right across from our room. Every need was confirmed at our check in and they even provided to go boxes for breakfast and coffee for our early departure to the airport. The Panorama restaurant was excellent and the staff knew we were quests at the suites and checked in with us frequently during dinner. If you want a special experience, I would definitely consider the suites at The Montenotte.

We stayed as a family (two children 5&7) for a short break. The hotel is about 15mins drive from the airport and only about 20mins gentle walk down hill into the city centre. There is ample free parking and we had a lovely 2 bedroom apartment which was well equipped with washer drier, 2 bathrooms, well equipped kitchen (enough to cook up a full Sunday roast!)/ large sitting room with digital tv you could log in to Netflix etc. (remember to logout after as our predecessors hadn’t)

The restaurant is beautifully decorated with large windows on to the terrace, overlooking the city and river. The terrace has heaters and was lovely for cocktails or a post breakfast coffee. There are also gardens below with steps to a fountain and interesting areas and sculptures to explore.

The food is superb- breakfast is a lovely buffet with a la carte options too. The restaurant has a childrens menu and a very good ‘adult’ menu with steaks and more interesting other options such as duck and monk fish.

Most importantly the staff are delightful. Dagmara remembered my tea preference each morning, one the of the lovely waiters helped our 5year old get some apple juice and then walked behind him wiping up the drips as he tried to carry it back to the table! Vorneen on reception very kindly gave us recommendations for outings and eateries and printed out some tourist info and then delivered it to our room.

The only tiny negative is the pool is a bit chilly for families as it’s more of a ‘swimmers’ pool and of course the boys were too young to be allowed to warm up in the jacuzzi.

Would definitely stay again and whole heartedly recommend!

Montenotte Hotel is directly uphill from the bus / train station... definitely walkable for the able-bodied, or a short taxi trip.

Hi the cinema sounds a fab touch but do you have in room movies?
Answer from bb0wler

Hi DontASk33, Many thanks for your question and your interest in The Montenotte. We don’t have an in room movie system however we do have over 30 Tv Channels available via our in room TV’s. We also have very fast Free Wifi throughout the hotel so platforms such as Netflix work seamlessly and of course there is also the option of our in house Cinema. I hope this helps, please let me know if we can be of any further assistance. Warm regards, Brian. Brian Bowler General Manager
