By reading few reviews on Tripadivsor we were hesitating to book in this b&b. We had a very good surprise. The bed was AMAZING, we slept so well! The bathroom was refurbished and very modern. No noise and they cleaned the ream even if we stayed 2 nights. I would come back and recommend this b&b.

I stayed here the night before a procedure at the Bons so that I could get an early night and begin the morning calmly. Good location, basic but clean room, and friendly staff at check-in. Unfortunately, at 10pm shouting and argumentative noises began from above my room. This got progressively worse when the very disturbing argument was now outside my door (at the bottom of the stairs and on the way to the exit). The fact that my room door did not look very secure (lots of light down the opening side with a fairly basic lock) Concerned for my own safety, I attempted to contact the B&B via their mobile phone number but got an automated out of hours message. The argument became physical and I could see 2 males going at it outside my downstairs window, and between the resident cars. No staff were visible. Eventually, the police arrived (one of the other residents must have been concerned also) and the scene quietened. Even though no-one called to my room to reassure me, I eventually managed to calm down and get to sleep somewhere after 3am. Apologies from the staff the next morning did little to restore my confidence in a management that leaves unwary travellers to their own fate once they leave for the night. I waited to see if they would refund some of the charge, but no, they obviously felt they deserved the full amount. I would never stay here again and most definitely not recommend it. PS. I'm a male with extensive travel experience and have never before felt threatened in my accommodation.

Not as much parking as expected even though I called a week before to ensure we would have a space. Check in was strange, there is no desk or area acting as reception, I ended up in the kitchen looking for someone to help us. Room was clean but carpet was filthy. Very strange to go down to the "common" area and the owner is sitting having dinner and relaxing felt very awkward as if I had interrupted him in his living room. Outside area at the river much smaller than the picture looks, so if different customers came down at the same time we had to take turns, but it was lovely. Breakfast was fab and staff looking after us were lovely. Lady with the glasses (the manager?) Could be heard shouting at the staff (Asians) which I was horrified about as they had been so good to us throughout our stay.

My brother and I had a 4-night stay here. We were in room 4 in the refurbished part of the building. There were tea and coffee making facilities (with biscuits) and a lovely little shower room with an excellent shower. Downstairs was a room where you could sit if you wanted to with a large TV, fridge and microwave available for use. The breakfasts were amazing with all you could wish for (these were included in the price when we booked, but people who hadn’t booked breakfast were free to add it later). We were usually served by Karen who was an absolutely delightful young lady from Manila. She was so happy and cheerful all the time and we looked forward to seeing her every morning at breakfast. There was some renovation work taking place outside that looks as if it will be a pleasant outdoor area for guests when finished. This didn’t detract from our stay in the least. We didn’t need the car park but it did seem rather small for the number of guests. We were able to walk into the centre within 10 - 15 minutes, so the location is very convenient. Also Fitzgerald Park is only a few minutes' walk away. I would not hesitate to come back here and would highly recommend this place.

Booked a place here at short notice as I had a sudden hospital appointment and we couldn't have been happier. We stayed in room no.2 and we're surprised to find that it had recently been done up. It was clean and beautiful. Everything worked perfectly and the jacuzzi style bath was a lovely treat. It looked as though there is further work being done to incorporate a patio style area to the rear of the premises, which will overlook the river. It'll be interesting to see how that develops. The breakfast the next morning was delicious and there was plenty on offer. We had a lovely view of the river as we ate. The staff were polite and helpful. A great place to spend a short stay, and close to everything. Great value for money. Thanks for a lovely night.

I stayed here for two nights with breakfast included. I am a vegetarian so I came prepared to be happy with just eggs on toast or porridge... But I was blown away by the breakfasts that were made for me here. This is the kind of breakfast I search for on regular café menus and can never find. Fresh veggies and flavour! Not in the images - you are also served a little Yoghurt to start you off with and get drinks straight away too. The hosts were incredible too, so lovely and welcoming. Always wanting to offer you more and checking in to see if you are happy. Customer care is very important to me, so this was an excellent choice of accommodation. I would highly recommend this place.

We had a very comfortable stay at Shandon Bells. It's a quaint little BnB that's only a 15 minute walk from the Cork city centre. Valentina was a lovely host. The bathroom was stocked with useful supplies and we had a great breakfast. Only issue we had was with the parking - it's got a very small car park that's hard to maneuver out of, and it's right next to a set of traffic lights which also made the BnB awkward to exit. But the actual service was great. Thank you 😊

Booked a night's stay with Shandon Bells my girlfriend booked it and when I got there was treated very badly by the hostess asking me am I bringing bottles up and why and basically just accusing me, as my girlfriend bought a few bottles up to the room as it was our birthdays. She was quite rude to us at breakfast also making negative comments and when we left as well I think it was very unfair and uncalled for and won't be staying again or recommending it for anyone. Very disappointed I have to say as we hadn't caused trouble or made mess we cleaned up after us also. Recent guest.

Stayed for 2 nights in Cork in a twin room at top of house (room 4). The staff were friendly and helpful. The room was spacious and clean and the beds comfortable. The car park at this venue is not large enough and if you do not manage to get your car parked, there is no available parking nearby. There was a strong smell of stagnant water coming from the very small shower room. Our biggest problem was that whenever another guest took a shower we had to endure a very loud pipe banging noise coming up through our radiator pipes. It was like a road drill going off. We were woken at 1am and then again at 6 am on our first nights stay. We turned the radiator valve off and this diminished the banging noise but it meant that we had no heating. So because of these issues I would not return to this Guest House again.
