Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

I recently stayed at the Fernroyd House while visiting my daughter who is studying at UCC. It's a perfectly located B&B just a short walk from the city centre and next to UCC in a quiet cul-de-sac. The homemade breakfast includes many cooked choices and the best fresh baked scones I’ve ever had. Avril and Tony are friendly and accommodating hosts. I highly recommend a stay at the Fernroyd House.

I spent a night here in November and would thoroughly recommend it: large, tastefully decorated room, friendly hosts, and great breakfast. The parking is a bit tight so it would be an idea to let Avril and Tony know when you are due to arrive. It is very convenient for UCC.

My main point here is that you should believe all of the good things you read in the other reviews. Avril and Tony are the nicest people imaginable, so helpful and accommodating -- put food out for us when we had an early departure, lent us umbrellas when it rained, gave great advice on things to do and places to go. The location is fabulous, not far from the airport, easy walking distance into the city centre and literally right on top of the University College Cork main entrance (I was there for work). Breakfast was delicious, plentiful and plenty of choice. I could go on but I will simply say this is your place in Cork.

We stayed for 3 nights and we certainly picked the best accommodation in Cork. Apart from the immaculate facilities and wonderful breakfast, Avril & Tony our hosts, were like being with old friends. Nothing was too much trouble; organising taxis, recommendations for food &drink , they made us feel so at home. Only 10 minutes walk from city centre too.

We stayed with Tony and Avril on our first visit to Ireland in 2011 and returned because of their warm hospitality and lovely property. The rooms were spacious and comfortable, and they serve a beautiful breakfast. Tony provides information and suggestions for dining and exploration. Only wish we could have stayed with them longer. Highly recommend.

Avril and Tony were by far the most kind and generous hosts we've ever stayed with. I was moving my daughter to the University of Cork College (UCC) for a year of study abroad, and they were so helpful to us in every way. The go above and beyond to ensure your stay is comfortable and are truly caring individuals! Our room was very comfortable with everything we needed. The bathroom was also very clean, and the water pressure in the shower was amazing! Their breakfast was always wonderful and they had a good selection of different options. The location was perfect for us. We were right next to UCC, a 15 minute walk from the city center, a 15 minute walk to my daughter's new apartment, and very near to Fitzgerald's Park. I would highly recommend this to anyone looking to visit Cork.

We truly enjoyed our stay at Fernroyd House. The rooms were well-maintained and very clean. It's an easy 15-20 minute walk to town. The location is right next to Cork University, which is a very beautiful campus to tour. Tony gave us many great recommendations for restaurants and pubs. The breakfast in the morning was amazing and included fresh, homemade scones. Parking at the house is limited but there is plenty of easy parking directly in front of the house. We would highly recommend this place to anyone visiting Cork.

We had a lovely stay at the Fernroyd House! The rooms were all very nice. It was easy to come and go and the location was great. There were beautiful places to run nearby, you can easily access the river, and the house is just a short walk into downtown. Breakfast was delightful (and vegetarian friendly), and we all particularly enjoyed the scones.
