Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

A nice hotel but dated. Checkin/ out was simple and quick. Very friendly and helpful staff. Duluxe double room was slightly larger than normal for a city center hotel. Good location… 3-4 mins walking to the city centre and 20 mins to airport in a car. Hotel needs a bit of a facelift. Our room was dated but comfortable. The bathroom wasn’t great… you could clearly see the start of mold in the shower (which was in a bath, not walk in). Hotel was busy but not overcrowded and a nice view of the river from our room. Overpriced for what it is

The rooms were quite clean, and location is great. Check in is not done by a person, but through a staff member walking you through the process on a self check-in kiosk. Housekeeping left lights in the room on after coming through each day. Security stands at the door in the evening and checks your room number when you come back in for some reason. Definitely a questionable practice.

The Clayton in Lapps Quay Cork was a perfect stay for our hen party. Anne Marie was super communicative and easy to coordinate with in the build up and the staff on the day were really accommodating. We did B&B with Afternoon Tea and they looked after us from start to finish. The hotel was super central for all the other activities we had planned as well - and even though most places were within walking distance, the staff really helped when booking taxis etc. Would definitely reccommened for any hen party - but actually a few of us have said that we will meet there again for a weekend because it's just a lovely stay, regardless of the event.

Booked Clayton for night for myself and daughter. Parking was plentiful. Arrived early and was greeted by lovely receptionist Elizabeth who took our bags for us. We headed off for the day. We checked in about 4 and were allocated a room on the 6th floor which was an internal room overlooking the atrium. It was quite large and had a single and king sized bed. After being in the room for about 2 hrs we noticed a pungent odour like oil coming which seemed to be coming from the hatch in the ceiling just inside the door of the room which came quite a bit into the room. I was meeting my son for a meal and I asked him to come up to see if he could smell it without mentioning it to him. He immediately noticed too when entering the room. I approached reception and explained and asked to move rooms which was accommodated straight away. We were then allocated another room on the second floor which was perfect. The room because quite warm but the aircon worked perfectly and slept very comfortably. We didn’t eat in the hotel but all staff we met were very helpful and friendly. It is extremely convenient to all shops and restaurants. Despite the room change I probably would stay again but would decline a room on the 6th floor which is the top floor of rooms and from looking out the window the floor above had grills on it which most likely housed the boilers/aircon units which may have been the problem.

My partner and I had a fantastic stay on Valentine’s Night in the Clayton Hotel in Cork City. We stayed in one of the suites, and it was immaculate. The room was exceptional, and the facilities were amazing (huge bed, bath, shower, double sinks, Nespresso machine, full Sky TV) and the service from Debbie and the team was top notch. The breakfast options were great too, and the staff were more than obliging for any requests. Many thanks to hotel manager, Conor, also. A gentleman who made sure everything was taken care of for us. We can’t wait for our next stay in the hotel. Would highly recommend to anyone looking for a break away.

The 2 is for reception which were great..fast and efficient check in for me and my 2 colleagues, including them receiving boxes for us delivered from a company in Cork..the hotel rooms were spotless in each of our rooms. The main problem was in the restaurant..worst experience for all of us. We ate dinner on Monday 15th January..service was very, very slow from waiting to be seated to ordering drinks and then dinner. Took at least 20 mins for 2 drinks to arrive at the table..the 3rd drink was unavailable, so a further 10 mins to get a different wine! The food finally arrived and it was not worth the wait. The restaurant really let's the overall impression of the hotel down. Breakfast was fast and there was plenty of choice and the service was really good.

The hotel itself was fine. However I thought the location was maybe less than desired. I feel like I did not get to see the Cork I expected as it seemed more suited for business people and was located a few blocks from the main Street with pub and stores. That said, the rooms were clean and nice but just did not really have any charm to them.
