Well situated, close to Cork city looks very impressive from the outside and when you enter you're not dissapointed. A friendly welcome at reception especially the girl with a Spanish accent she was amazing I am sorry I should use her name but I had a problem to get it on the next day because the other girls on the reception didn’t want to share it with me. The rooms are just as impressive spacious clean but somehow cosy. There is everything you need but should you need something else nothing is too much and can be supplied where possible. The whole building was fresh and I didn't see anything that let the hotel or staff down. Breakfast in the morning had plenty of options from cooked to cold. Again friendly staff to assist you through the experience. I can recommend it 100%.
Visited here for a night recently and had a very enjoyable time . Room was very comfortable and clean . Breakfast was very good with a great selection to choose from . Staff were most friendly and helpful at all times . Great location for getting about the city
Parking is convenient under the hotel, check in was quick and reception staff were friendly and helpful. Room was overlooking the hotel centre atrium, and was warm and clean with a very comfortable bed. I ate in the hotels Globe restaurant which was disappointing, the restaurant wasn't very full but it took quite a while for staff to grumpily get me a table , I opted for the Angus burger which was burnt and the accompanying fries were rock hard , as if they had been cooked several times. Not good considering the burger was €19.95 I paid for my meal at the bar as I keep my restaurant bill seperate from my accommodation but when leaving the restaurant I was stopped by the waitress saying "oh you haven't paid!" I assured her that I had , showing her my receipt, I thought that was that . The following day at checkout I discovered that the restaurant bill ,which I had already paid, was added to my room bill!!!!! The receptionist sorted out the bill properly when I showed my receipt from the restaurant but the whole experience left a bad impression on me .Having to show proof ,twice! that I had paid for a meal . I would think twice about staying here again after my experience.…
Clayton Hotel Cork So I have stayed here a few times before and it’s always mixed. Good points Central location with discounted underground parking and an easy walk to the city center. Not for the first time I have experienced poor service in the bar restaurant. Today I arrived into the bar after checking into the hotel and after checking into my room I was hungry. I sat at table 4 in a large spacious bar with lots of tables. At that time there were approximately four maybe five tables occupied and no one at the bar. I sat and waited for 15 minutes before I got up and asked for a menu. At this stage I got a food order in as I ordered a drink at the bar while asking for the menu. I ordered a sandwich and it came along promptly and in all fairness it was good. A chicken and Brie sandwich in a toasted ciabatta crispy bread with salad. I sat and read the news on my iPad and checked emails. I wanted another drink. I waited and waited and then waited some more. After 50 minutes I stood up and went to the bar to order. Not once did anyone come to my small table to clear my food or ask was I ok. After getting my second drink about 50 mins after my first with no service I finished and had to go to the bar to pay my bill. There were two to three bar / waiting staff in the bar and I have never seen such poor training. They looked busy but yet did nothing. In fact when they did do something Homer Simpson would have performed better. This seems normal for this bar as its happened many times before yet they claim 4 stars??????? Later this evening I came back after having dinner with clients. I had one gin and tonic and made a few phone calls. At 11:50 I asked for another but was told the bar was closed. I said I am a guest and I have a keycard to prove I’m staying here. I was told sorry no you cannot have anything bar is closed. I said I’;m staying here. No sorry go away. What a joke of a 4 star hotel in the center of Cork City in 2022. At12:10 I asked what about room service. I was told the chief has a Toasted Cheese and Ham Sandwich nothing else. JOKE what sort of a dump is this?? How is this a 4 star hotel?? Now wait till you see what arrived. Your worst chipper would not serve this. Never again. Don’t stay in this dump…
From the moment we contacted Anne Marie in reservations to confirm our booking who was more than accommodating ensuring that we got inter connecting rooms our stay was enjoyable The hotel is spotless with tea/coffee making facilities in bedrooms both beds and pillows are most comfortable .The bar is cosy and food delicious Breakfast was brilliant with a wide choice of both hot and cold food. The staff are lovely especially Clara and another blonde waitress with plaits who served us breakfast. Debbie on reception was most helpful and knowledgeable of the area
Hotel ideally located with parking in underground multistorey. Fabulous breakfast selection & huge dining room. Receptionist Olivia made our visit very pleasant with seamless check in & check out. She also responded to any of my queries via email prior to our arrival. The room she allocated us was excellent It was very spacious with lovely river view.
The basics were fine and the location excellent but i have reduced the rating because of food issue. The Hotel had a "gas" issue in kitchen which gave us a 80 minute wait for meal. These things happen , nobodies fault. However when the meal came it was worfull completely dried out and obviously sitting for the 80 minutes and could not be eaten. I mentioned this to the Cashier when I was paying and was informed that it was as per the menu and proceeded to charge full amount. There were 7 of us with 5 rooms in total. Needless to say we did not eat there again.
Good morning I recently had a two night stay in your hotel from Tuesday the 1st to Thursday the 4th. I had booked a family room for 2 adults and 3 kids with a meal included for night and breakfast on both mornings. I would just like to express my total dissatisfaction in relation to my stay. I would like you to consider the following points. 1) On checking in I informed the lady on check in we were only 4 as one of the adults didn’t travel, yet I was still charged for the evening meal and two morning breakfasts, why is this the case? 2) On entering the room I noticed we had only to bath towels and two hands towels, the room should have been prepared for 5 people? 3) We had a quick afternoon snack in the bar and it taked for ages for our order to be taken and when our toasties arrived they were cold. 4) We had dinner in the bar on Tuesday night arriving at 7.20, the delay in ordering and waiting on our food was quite painful and stressful, we didn’t receive our deserts until 9.40 we were two and a half hours from start to finish. This is totally unacceptable. 5) We returned to our room 240 expecting the sofa bed to be turned out and made up. To our surprise this was not the case. 6) On turning out the sofa bed we found it was not made up. 7) I went down to reception and requested someone makes up the bed, we had to wait for 40 mins for a new employee to arrive who had to be trained by a more experienced employee, on how to make the bed up. 8) I personally slept in the sofa bed and I don’t believe its fit for use. I would suggest one of the senior managers tries the bed, the mattress is flimsy and one can feel the iron frame underneath when lying in the bed. To say I had two of the worst nights sleeps in my life is an understatement. 9) We arrived for breakfast yesterday morning at 9.30, we had fruit yogurts, cereal etc. I ordered pancakes and was surprised to receive just one pancake?. At 9.50 we went up to the hot buffet all that was on offer were mushrooms, bacon, beans, all the rest of the products were empty, my kids waited until 10.10 and left still feeling hungry. I waited and sausages arrived at 10.15 after which most people had left. This is not what I paid for. I was expecting a four star experience and an enjoyable break with my kids but unfortunately we experienced the opposite. I look forward to your comments and as to how Clayton Hotels intend to rectify the above experience.…
The stay was horrible fir multiple reasons. First of all children under 16 inly have access to the swimming pool (which has a lot of hair on the bottom), no gym, no jacuzzi, no sauna, no spa. Secondly my family was woken up at 5am by a couple arguing on our floor, we could also hear people on the road. Finally the breakfast was over crouded we had to wait 5 minutes before even getting inside, and 15 minutes to eat a irish breakfast as there were no more sausages. I wouldn't recommend coming more than a night or with teenagers.
Excellent stay. Even though the industry is struggling to get good staff this hotel has kept up its standards. The hotel was clean. Staff pleasant and helpful. It was a treat to stay somewhere that meets your expectations. Staff are well dressed and well mannered. All areas are clean and tidy.
