Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

What a great charming old piece of history that this hotel was. The front area is a throwback to when the mail and keys were kept up front. The room was huge for what we had in most of Ireland. Front desk staff was so nice in directing us where to eat. When i go back to kiss the Blarney, i am staying here

I was disappointed in my stay . The hotel is very old. Rooms were hot where you needed to put on a Dan that they left in the room and keep the dirty window open. Elevators were scary so I had to switch my room to a lower floor so I could take the stairs instead . Location was great where you could walk 7-9 min to train station or to the Oliver Plunkett street

Room Tip: Get a lower floor to avoid the elevator but you will still walk a lot of stairs .

Probably one of the best hotel in Cork.. if you are looking for a hotel within city centre, with good location, lots of nearby food bars and restaurants, definitely this is the best hotel to go to. Staffs are friendly and helpful. There’s a road construction going on for the meantime but still, the area is quiet especially during the night and it won’t disturb your sleep. Wifi probably a drawback as the hotel doesn’t provide unlimited internet if your not checked in the suite but network coverage is strong for mobile internet

Great Old World Style! Everything about this hotel is awesome - except for the construction on the street right in front. Make sure you get a room that is facing away from the street. (Stayed for 3 nights and construction started at 4:30AM every day:() Food at the Met was some of the best we had in 2 weeks in Ireland.

A very enjoyable stay in this charming hotel . Staff very friendly and professional. Room clean and tidy and probably the best cooked breakfast I've ever experienced. Location is great being a short walk into the centre and with lots of coffee bars , restaurants and pubs on the doorstep . The area has a good safe vibe and I wouldn't hesitate to recommend here . It was a tad pricey but that's standard these days in Ireland.

What an amazing hotel, not just because of the location and the style, but the fantastic and friendly staff. Special mention to Aideen and Eamon, two of the most friendly, welcoming and helpful staff you'll ever find in the hospitality industry. I hope their manager appreciates them. The rooms were lovely, some more spacious than others, but all had decent showers, and charging stations, as well as USB ports. Hairdryers were decent as well. The bar is gorgeous, really nicely designed. The breakfast was really good, continental and cooked. We were there for a library conference and travelled up and back to another hotel, but were so glad that we stayed in the Metropole and not the conference hotel. Eamon and Aideen booked taxis for us, stored our luggage, gave us tips for good places to go for drinks, as well as having a laugh with us. The location is great, just off the quays, right in the centre of the city. Kent station is a 5min walk away, and all shopping and food is within walking distance. Thanks again, I will definitely be back.

Lovely hotel with nice restaurant. Highlight for us: Lorraine, our server at breakfast. She guided us through the breakfast offerings, but more than that took time to ask about us and our interests and give suggestions like an interested friend. She put a face and personality on the hotel and the city that we won’t forget.

Room Tip: Parking in the nearby lots—yikes, not easy if you are an American driver. Extremely tight spaces.

Back once again to the Metropole. We came back because of the staff and they didn’t disappoint once again, they are so friendly, informative and will do anything for you. We had a great room with seating in the tower. The only down side was the smell - not sure where from as the bathroom was fine?? Wants looking at - not a total spoiler but you could certainly smell something in the room. Don’t let this put you off as the positives far outweigh the negatives - great breakfast - great location and great staff. Big shout out to Eamon who really was a star and and made us feel right at home whilst dealing with all our queries. Not even spoiled by Kevin the teenager barman in the Met who was obvs having a bad night - just made us laugh!! With service like this why go anywhere else???
