Detailed Reviews
What can I say about this establishment - a real hidden gem!! Booked our last minute stay and as soon as we arrived we were made welcome by staff in the idyllic walled beer garden, a beautiful intimate setting (kudos to the gardeners on a fabulous job with the gardens !). The hotels decor is a touching nod to the era the house was built, early 1800’s tenement style dwelling with original peeling paint, creaking floorboards, missing skirting boards etc. All rooms en-suite with a luxurious spa and steam room on the first floor. Amenities provided such as toilet roll pyramids and rocky pyjamas. All staff were most welcoming but was disappointed not to have met the general manager as we heard so many wonderful stories. By the end of our stay we knew all the staff by their names, a warm homely atmosphere. An ideal location for any aviation enthusiasts, a real a220 suspended from the ceiling in the kitchen - amazing to see up close!!! The cisterns for all the toilets also sound like a 747 with TOGA thrust set. Freshly brewed tea and coffee provided 24/7. Local dining establishment Lavish located nearby serving the best cuisine Cork city has to offer. We stayed in the penthouse suite furnished with a fan, tv, computer, printer, hoover and fridge all provided at no extra cost. After a great nights sleep we simply couldn’t tear ourselves away and opted for late checkout, where we enjoyed even more tea and a ‘Lavish’ breakfast. Only downside to the suite was lack of drinking water, we had to rehydrate from the bathroom faucet. Nothing was too much trouble but beware when availing of street parking, traffic warden 88 is a terror for the parking tickets. Chauffeur driven services are available at a nominal fee. Overall a fabulous stay, worthy 5* rating and will be back again on Oct 12th to celebrate another momentous IAA occasion.
