An excellent location very close to restaurants, supermarkets and train station, the room was very small but sufficient because in my case I did not need more space to have an excellent rest, the bed was very comfortable and everything was very clean, the bathroom had an excellent hot shower. The place was very quiet which allowed me to had a good rest, the hotel has a bar with excellent prices to have a few drinks and enjoy the arcade game machines.
I was a bit anxious about our stay having read previous reviews, but have to say we had a great 4 night stay. We arrived early and were advised that our room would be ready in about an hour. Lovely bar and reception staff - very helpful and nice. We had a ‘just right’ sized room on the 6th floor. It was plenty big for us. Storage under the bed, at the foot of the bed and on the big windowsill. Massive window with great views of Cork. Bed was comfortable. I asked for an additional pillow and that was no problem. Also borrowed a hairdryer. Shower was good - a rain shower I think it’s called. Tea/coffee facilities were available on the first floor with a fridge and microwave. There was also a washing machine, but I don’t know if this was for guests or not. It was a bit awkward getting in and out of bed as it was slotted in between 2 walls, but not an issue for us. A massive TV at the foot of the bed. We had plenty channels and managed to catch up on the tennis at Wimbledon. Also had options for Chromecast and YouTube, but we didn’t use these. Walls are very thin, but we had come prepared with earplugs. There was only one night when I used them. Yes, some street noise too. But honestly what are people expecting. Right in the middle of the city, 2 star hotel - it worked for us and we had a great stay. Location was perfect for a city break.…
I stayed on a weekday and the hotel was still busy. Met a very friendly and helpful reception on arrival, check in was quick and smooth. The bar looked cool and an ideal place to meet people. The room was clean and well maintained. The location is ideal, right in the heart of the city. Definitely be staying again.
Great location, but this place is a complete dive. They cram a double bed into a tiny room. No place for luggage. No amenities at all: no cups in the bathroom, no place to hang a towel. Stuffy and unventilated. Hugely overpriced. Avoid at all costs.
Stayed in a medium size room. Still small but I thought it was cute. I was in 610. Had great rear view of Patrick’s Hill. Bed was very comfortable. Huge smart TV at foot of bed. Shower was great. As per other reviews, room was very hot. But can open window. And upon check-in was given 2 bottles of water so the heat was not a big deal. Great location on MacCurtain Street.
Currently writing this review at 4.30am because the people in the room next to us are shouting and we can hear each and every word they are saying. Contacted the hotel reception but no response or assistance in the matter. The walls are paper thin, and it wasn’t a cheap hotel. €170 a night?! Pay a little more to stay anywhere else. Location is the only thing going for it. Rooms were also v hot all night. AVOID if you want a good (any) sleep.
Very beautiful place to stay! A little bit tiny, even we took larger room, but still nice and clean. Bathroom very nice, bed comfortable. We also used washing machine and dryer. While we were waiting for laundry, we took free coffee and tea. Bar inside is also very beautiful and stuff is very nice. We had a room on 6 floor and we had really beautiful view on all city.
Great location… rooms tiny … ok standard fine for an overnight stay. Stayed in a room that can sleep 2 but wouldn’t fancy that…. Be a bit claustrophobic I think. Price wise ok but not massively cheaper than other places nearby. Think I would spend a little more and have a bit more room
I really like the idea of the honesty of what you get roomsizewise. If looking for just a sleepover while enjoying Cork, this place is perfect. The large windows on both walls around bed were amazing. Location is great and reception staff very friendly.
I booked into this hotel for a two night stay, in order to visit a sick, elderly relative. The level of utter indifference I was greeted with was one thing, but by some distance not the worst. I wasn’t planning on staying in the room other than to sleep, so I can take that it’s very small and not very well maintained. However, on the second day I got soaked as it was raining very heavily. When I asked if I could get the radiator to work so I could dry my clothes, I was given a hair dryer. Then it got even worse. There was an ‘incident’ in the room next door and whilst I don’t know the details, I do know it sounded violent and I had no intention of getting involved. My understanding is that the police were called and people were ejected at around 3.30am. I may have got two hours sleep after that. When I checked out and mentioned that I’d had little or no sleep and was not very happy, the receptionist asked why I hadn’t left my room and sorted out the problem myself. Unbelievable. This individual then accused me of ‘giving him attitude’ so he was therefore unwilling to listen to my complaints. Reading the negative reviews here, the common theme is the complete lack of even the most basic customer service skills. I will not be back and I want an apology and a full refund.…
