For a no nonsense, comfortable clean but inexpensive place to stay you cannot equal Travelodge Cork. we needed a place close to the hospital that allowed an early check in for hubby to rest while I was undergoing treatment. We were delighted that we were accommodated in that . It meant that I could relax and not worry about him getting overtired. No frills, we got what we paid for .

Dear Mary K Thank you for kind review of Travelodge Cork, and it is great to hear that the staff looked after both you and your husband during your stay. I stayed in the Travelodge whilst on business in Cork and if you have a car it's in a good position for getting around Cork from. I wouldn;t fancy staying there on holiday as it is pretty basic, but if you're in town on business or for a wedding or a similar short stay it can't be faulted. The maid service is a bit erratic, e.g., no milk cartons for the tea & coffee but 5 towels, but the reception staff are friendly and helpful and the restaurant is not bad for a Travelodge. Also, not bad value compared to other places in Cork, but don't go near it unless you are driving as it is off a ring road and not within walking distance of anything remarkable.

I stayed at the Travelodge with my husband and 2 children aged 2 and 3 and had a lovely break. We did not have a car and had to get taxis to and from the airport and the city centre. They cost us about 10 euros each time and all taxi drivers were friendly and helpful. The room was nice and clean and beds comfortable. We ate breakfast and dinner each day at the Brog Maker Pub opposite the travelodge. All the staff were very friendly, the food was absolutely wonderful and reasonable prices too. I would highly recommend it. We had a great time and would stay there again although we would probably hire a car next time.

Friendly. Clean. Efficient. Car parking on site. Excellent value.
I did not have breakfast as first meal of the day in the attached Diner would not be for me. (my problem - not the Diners I hasten to add).
This is not 5 star, nor does it pretend to be, but for all round rating in it's class at the price it is excellent

What an immensely depressing place to stay … so why did I. Well, travelling in by plane, the road in to Cork is nose to tail traffic late afternoon so I saw the TL and figured, that will do, it will be fine. Pay the 69 Euro, which needless to say excludes breakfast at Eddie Rockets, the adjoining business partner premises. The room, yes is clean but thoroughly unwelcoming and bleak. Drab colours, dull lighting, plain magnolia walls and not a single Monet print in site. The bottom of the range portable TV with its fuzzy picture is there for your sole pleasure, and a redeeming point, a nice new kettle. I decided to have a bath as the room was fairly cold, to warm up. Laying in small bath gave me time to contemplate whether I should use the miniscule tablet of soap now, or save if for the morning as a treat … These will be the sort of decisions you will enjoy making in the stimulating environment of Cell 202. Now warmed up, and 1/3 of my soap reserve remaining for the morning, I flick on my Laptop in hope of connecting to the outside world and some form of tangible life. Excellent news, there is the bitbuzz WIFI signal available. At check in I asked the Czech Republic receptionist if WIFI was inclusive as I like to select my hotel that provides this, at an inclusive rate to avoid rip off’s. She was unsure, but thought so. Despite normal Eastern European hotel staff efficiency, she was wrong. You will need to fork out a ridiculous 12 Euro a day charge for the pleasure of collecting your email no doubt junk mail too. At least the bed is large and comfortable, so if that is all that matters to you, travel no further. But, add together the dismal room, zero entertainment facilities, the cost of Eddie Rockets breakfast and WIFI you are happily nudging 100 Euro for the night. FOR THAT you could have driven just a few miles in to Carrigaline, and stayed at the very plush Carrigaline Court Hotel which is where I will be tomorrow … nice pool, sauna, restaurant, WIFI … etc. I hope a 1000 of you read this and choose not to stay, until they provide us more than a glorified prison cell for the evening. Travelodge Cork is simply a lazy choice, take it and pay, and be miserable.

Had booked a Twin room for one night as we needed to get an early flight out of Cork airport on the Sat am. Arrived after 6pm on the Friday and booked in. When we got to our room there was only a double bed. Phoned reception and they told us that all their rooms were family rooms with a double and a couch bed. This wasn't advised to us when we booked as there was a choice of a double or a twin. As it was late they highly recommended the Brog Maker pub for some food so we tried it out. It was passable.. really just burgers etc. Got back to the room and noticed that the sheets were dirty. It was clear that the linnen hadn't be changed. Called reception to let them know and they didn't bat an eyelid. They brought new sheets and told us to change them ourselves. I got the couch bed which was very uncomfortable. Checked out at 3am and was glad to do so. The room cost E79 so I expected a fairly basic room. I got much less than I expected. It looks fine from the outside but it really needs attention and redecoration. When I told my story to some friends they told me they had similar isses with dirty sheets. I won't be going back there.

Desperate for a place to stay in Cork, I found this Travelodge through Orbitz. Most everywhere else was fully booked, or far too expensive, so for 69 Euro a night, I was happy to take this room.
It's a bit tricky to find with the directions from the website, in a monster of a roundabout, but once we got there, parking was no problem. You will need a car to get here, though.
The rooms are pretty good for a large number of people: There is a double bed, a couch, and a trundle bed that pulls out from under the couch. This means there are two twin beds and one big bed.
The room was a bit dark, the carpet was damp, the couch was damp (still don't know why). The trundle bed smelled strongly of mildew, so strong that I (the person stuck with the trundle) abandoned the trundle in the middle of the night and crawled into the double bed with my sister.
All in all, not a bad experience, perhaps if the room hadn't been dank and mildewy I would have given more stars.
Staff were reasonably friendly, though sometimes I did have to wait several minutes for someone to be at the desk, and there was no bell to ring.

You know what you are getting with Travelodge and if you leave booking a
town centre guest house too late, then this is the place to go. Out of the airport down the hill to the crazy roundabout, with the never ending road - works, turn right at the first set of lights and you are there.
It's only about 2 miles from the airport and 2 miles into town. But with the major road - works on the nearby roundabout it is not pedestrian friendly, at all. If you don't want to drive into town then there is an excellent park and drive just round the corner on the city bound road, 5 euros leave the car there and the buses run every 10 minutes, the place closes at 7.30 p.m.
Then in the evening a cab costs about 9 or 10 euros, not cheap but you don't have a lot of choice. Another place quite pleasant and easy to park at is Douglas, round the roundabout onto the N25 south and it is the first turn
off, then right into the town centre. A few decent pubs and restaurants and easy parking.
Best bars - Corner Bar - Sim e (next door) - Fransiscan Well (Brewery)
Just ask and you will find.
Enjoy - We did!

We stayed here for 3 nights & it was fine. Clean rooms & friendly staff & pretty much all we needed & expected 4 the bargain price! We used the bus going in & out of he city centre which took about 20 minutes & a day pass costing less than €10 per couple is a bargain. No onsite bar but reception do hold a few bevvies if you take the notion & there is a topaz petrol station next door. For what we paid €140 for 3 nights in a family room I think it's great value!!!

I had the worst experience of my life at this hotel. A group of English thugs were holed up here on the same night that I had the misfortune to stay at this hotel.
I asked them once to quieten down at ca. 3am to be loudly to to ---- --- and that I would be busted by the four of these beer-bellied louts if I spoke to them again.
I hadn't even considered ringing reception, someone else did but after this I was concerned about my safety so gathered up my belongings and went to reception at 4am to get another room on another floor.
The next day after making a very quick departure I rang the hotel to see if I could get the names of these louts so that I could make an official complaint to the cops. Of course no joy due to the "data protection" laws.
What can you do? These guys should not be allowed get away with this behaviour and this hotel seems to attract the absolute dregs...STAY AWAY IF YOU VALUE YOUR SAFETY

Response from SeaHotel, Hotel Manager at Travelodge Cork Airport
Responded 12 Apr 2008
Thanks for your review. With respect, I do not see how this is our fault. This problem could occur at any hotel at anytime, and you would not be allowed the guests names at any hotel either. Imagine how the hotel would be seen if we asked the guests to leave because we thought they might cause trouble. Yes, how the hotel responded could be different, but you make little mention of this and had you stayed we would have happily given you a new room assuming one was available. Thanks Alan Watson - Hotel Manager Cork Travelodge
