Nestled near Cork, Rochestown Park Hotel's tranquil yet convenient location is frequently praised by guests. While the hotel's atmosphere is described as a blend of charming and festive, some aspects are noted as outdated, a sentiment echoed in the mixed reviews of the rooms. Cleanliness throughout the hotel generally receives accolades, but reviewers suggest the pool and certain amenities could be improved. The service receives varied feedback, with commendations for staff friendliness countered by remarks on sporadic service quality. Guests enjoy the pool and spa, despite calls for updates and child access restrictions. However, many feel that the hotel's value is diminished by overpriced services and the absence of modern amenities.

I stayed here for 4 nights. The hotel is easy to find and offers a shuttle service to near Mahon Point every morning. My check in and out went smoothly.
My room was on the 4th floor and was clean, warm and spacious. The window opened which I like to let fresh air in.
I ate in the bar twice and the service was a little haphazard but fine. The mezze sharing/ starter was bread heavy but the sandwiches I ate the other nights were good (one room service) breakfast was tasty and plentiful. The chefs are the breakfast bar were local and friendly which is positive. There was a good choice of hot food but the continental breakfast was underwhelming however Cork in March lends itself to a hot breakfast rather than a cold one so it may be that there is a wider selection in warmer months.
The gym was small but well stocked and the sauna/ pool/ stem area was spacious and clean.
It’s a pity there are no bathrobes or slippers in the rooms or the gym. Also a separate bin for recycling in the bedroom would have been great (I left my rubbish separated but it may all have been dumped together) a note that towels could be hung up or left in the bath to be changed would also be an environmental plus.
Overall a very pleasant stay.

We have stayed in Rochestown three times now as we always had a lovely time here. They have three room types - classic, which is a very basic room with old decor, the deluxe which seemed to be standard room compared to other hotels but nicer than the classic and the suites which is definitely worth the extra money. There is a beautiful sleigh bed, mood lighting and a gloriously deep bath and lovely powerful shower with gets. The hotel has plenty of covid procedure signs and hand sanitizer. I felt that we knew what was expected of us as guests as I was a little nervous about going to a hotel . There were even packets of alcohol wipes in the room which was a nice touch. The food in Suttons was outstanding, beautifully presented and plentiful. We got breakfast served to our room but the server didn't come in we took the tray from them at the door which I liked as it felt safer. Breakfast was lovely and freshly cooked. We will definitely be back again.

I have stayed at this hotel quite a few times in the past and recently was there for 5 weeks in a row. I have always found it to be hit and miss, and the last month has been no exception!

Week 1 was excellent. I had cause to complain when I first checked in and it was dealt with quickly and I was moved to another room. Staff at check in/out were very nice.

Week 2 was ok but I ordered room service twice and something was wrong both times. Air conditioning was very loud but effective.

Week 3 was pretty much as above, except, for the first 2 weeks I had put the ‘do not disturb’ sign on the door and returned every day to find a bag of fresh towels, soap, bottle of water etc hanging on the door. In week 3 I only had that one day out of 5.

Week 4 I was in a different part of the hotel. Bathroom/shower was nicer than the preceding 2 weeks, though the room itself was smaller and the air conditioning was rubbish. My windows overlooked the central courtyard where there were loads of screaming children running around until after midnight. This is not the fault of the hotel of course, but if the air conditioning had been better I wouldn’t have had to open the windows.

Week 5 I was overlooking the courtyard again, and as soon as I checked in I noticed the air con wasn’t working at all. I phoned reception to report this and was told it had been turned off “because of the virus” even though it had been on for the last 4 weeks?!? They did very kindly bring me a fan, but it wasn’t much help.
I also had no fridge in my room this week for the first time and once again i only got fresh towels etc one day out of the week.

I could have asked for extra towels etc and maybe even complained about the fridge, but I kept expecting them to turn up the next day. Consistency would be better!

Other notes:
Some of the rooms have plugs beside the bed (weeks 1, 4 and 5) but not all do.

Restaurant food is very nice, as are the staff, but the service is usually slow. At the moment they have a strict booking service (which is totally understandable)

Ample parking

(Usually?) A fridge in every room

Beds are comfortable. I find the pillows all to be a bit too thick but that’s just personal preference.

If you get it on a good day, this really is a nice hotel, but seems to be luck of the draw!

Lights and TV in the room didn't work. And that was in the "new wing" as we payed for an upgrade. Plus, our bathroom was a disability friendly bathroom, which we wouldn't mind, had we asked for it. By the way, as a Day Service Manager, I would strongly recommended that they put an appropriate, non slip disability shower chair, instead of cheap garden chair(!) in the bathroom. It's asking for trouble. Argos has them cheap, if the price is the problem. Staff at the desk was very rude, service staff was sent over to "fix" these issues but there was not much he could do. Another desk staff, Kery, who was very helpful and pleasant, brought us to a different room. That room was nice, however, the draft from both windows would wake a bear in the middle of his hibernation. At least they invested in heavy curtains, which stopped the wind from howling in the room. And we got an oil heater to plug in. In a four star hotel... Toilet flush was broken as well. Very nice and comfortable bed, fantastic bath, lovely shower. Coffee/tea facilities well equipped. Breakfast was great with really nice staff, who were doing their job barely being noticed, they were so quiet and quick. As per pool - expect a lot of people, who are not hotel guests. It's an open to all pool. Keys boards not a great idea. We were constantly checking if any stranger took our keys. It's that easy... Very inefficient staff at the desk of the swimming pool. We watched them dealing with other pool guests and they were not only slow but, also, not overly friendly and it took them AGES to handle requests. Plus, they run out of towels.
Overall, we will not stay there again. There was too many issues in such a short period of time as one overnight stay.

The hotel really needs upgrading. We were amazed to see so many of the walls and ceilings badly marked or peeling like down the stairs where we queued for breakfast. Carpets are torn and badly stained tru-out especially in the lobby. We walked the grounds and the area is dirty and overgrown in places. There are torn curtains in the bar area and the big armchairs are badly worn and damaged. For breakfast the scrambled eggs are like jelly obviously a huge batch heated in the metal dish and not really scrambled. Bacon and sausages seemed very pale and undercooked but cereals pastries and fruit were nice. Steak was very good in the main bar. Overall the hotel does not match the photos on the website. Such a pity as we found the staff were generally polite and welcoming and the rooms are big and they have nice beds. Overall service could have been much better and the hotel a lot better presented. Staff seemed poorly trained and slow to clean-up tables and flooring after guests. The hotel really needs robes and slippers in the rooms because asking people to walk to and from the pool in their swimwear is unacceptable.

This was my second stay in this hotel and it was even better this time. Everything was clean, hand sanitizers were available throughout. My family and I felt very safe in the hotel. We missed be able to go to the buffet ourselves for breakfast but the staff serving breakfast were very attentive, and again, all tables were sanitised thoroughly and socially distanced. We will definitely stay again.

We stayed in the Rochestown Park last weekend, July 2020, and we thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The time in lockdown was evidently put to good use by the hotel as the paint and decor were immaculate and the hotel was spotlessly clean. Due to Covid-19 new measures were in place in the hotel namely booking time slots for the leisure centre and restaurant but these were all arranged by the very courteous receptionist and had no impact on our stay other than allowing us to plan our day more effectively. We felt very safe and at ease with the manner in which all staff dealt with us and in the times we are currently living in this was very reassuring. Our room was large and very well appointed, while also being spotlessly clean. As our children are young they were in bed early and the hotel corridors were pleasantly quiet in the evenings which helped in getting the kids to bed early. We went swimming in the leisure centre, which again was spotlessly clean and it was evident significant upgrades had recently taken place particularly in the children's pool which now has a rubberised floor, giving added safety to the kids. We ate in the hotel restaurant and the food was very good coupled with excellent service and value for money. We will definitely return to the hotel for another stay as the whole experience was very relaxing. Special mention to the hotel staff who were at all times very friendly and courteous. Keep up the good work.

Stayed with friends for a few days. Loads of signage screens and sanatiser but not everybody was socially distancing. Queue for breakfast was down as far as the leisure centre with no social distancing. Breakfast was understaffed and the cooked?? meats were pale and cold good selection of healthy options though. We were given a table near the toilets and staff access area in the bistro for dinner. The bistro was overfilled with people and tables too close for sure. No comfort and staff brushed past during the entire meal and we could hear them make loads of noise and chat loudly and curse in the corridor as we tried to eat. Wings were lovely as were seabass and curry. Waited too long for drinks and they forgot our dessert and said they dont make baileys coffees. We asked the night manager for towels as we were left short he said he would sort it but never returned but we got them from the room attendant the next morning. Hotel seems run down and staff seem not to be trained to a good standard. Would be slow to return.

Great family hotel where we felt safe with all social distancing measures and hand sanistisers in place .Staff were extremely helpful and efficient especially in the breakfast room where they are dealing with a high volume of people. The pool which needs to be prebooked was brilliant for the children and not over crowded. Location is perfect for visiting Fota and Cobh. Overall we had a lovely relaxing break

Interesting Hotel we arrived in a storm so we’re put off going out. Rooms seemed fine a bit worn , comfy bed seemed clean enough wind whistled through my bathroom shut windows. CoMpact but functional. Good Wi-fi nice staff at check in. Restaurant/ brassiere was a bit different average food and service burger couldn’t have a fried egg but turned up with it anyway but was a bit over cooked and dry. Wine was a bit average.. staff lost us at times.. so part good part average price not bad car park a fair way when chucking it down..

Yes you can but the location is so good you are literally only a stroll away from restaurants in the old and new town. Would highly recommend going down onto the strip. You also have a kitchenette in the room so we strolled to Lidl bought a few bits and then made breakfast in the room
