Stayed here for a couple of nights whilst in Cork great location close centre but nice and quiet for sleeping. Staff friendly food good only issue was no mattress protectors on beds which I find big no no and amount of build up dust behind places you don't see ie behind bedside tables and skirting boards.
Stayed here for a few days with the family in a family room and used as a base to explore Blarney, Cobh etc. Central location is great, staff friendly, good breakfast, and nice to have the pool and facilities. Had one issue while we were there but this was dealt with appropriately.
We stayed as a family with four adults and a three year old. I spoke to Chloe when I booked and we discussed our needs. She recommended the two rooms we stayed in and she was spot on. The swimming pool was a bonus. We stayed three nights and the hotel was very busy. Despite this the staff couldn’t be more helpful. A toddler mishap in the middle of the night was dealt with without any fuss.! The breakfast provided great variety and excellent service .I had worked in the hotel when it was a hospital back in the 70s and it was fascinating to see the changes.
Generally, a good experience. However, they closed the hotel bar at 11pm without even offering the guests a chance to buy last drinks. No room service available and no manager on duty to complain to. We arrived back after a show looking forward to a nightcap. VERY DISAPPOINTING. There were about 20 other angry guests there.
Clean, modern rooms , reception staff were helpful and welcoming. Good choice at breakfast- all freshly cooked and made and the breakfast staff were great. Good location in the city I enjoyed my stay.
stayed here for Westlife concert in August. Check in was fine and they gave us the room early which was great. The staff on at that time we're very helpful and polite. In fairness, we were there on the hottest day of the year I think so Iunderstand that, but it was insanely hot in our room, with a window that barely opened. Went down to reception at 4.30am and the nice staff on duty did give us a fan to try and help but nothing worked. Breakfast the next day was very average, and abit all over the place, queue wise. Receptionist that morning on check out completely blanked us when trying to explain that we had not slept bar 45 mins the night before. Like, nothing, not even aw sorry to hear that, just said ok have you left your key card with us? and the price for a night was ridiculous! but thats just because of the concert of course. …
We stayed in the maldron for three nights the receptionist was very rude when we arrived we were early put just wanted to drop off our bags until check in time her rudeness left a bad impression before we had evan checked in as for our room it was awful carpet stains and a musty smell we probably should of complained but we knew everywhere was fully booked so we just put up with it breakfast was horrible but the restaurant staff were lovely very helpful that was the only good point for us unfortunately we won't be returning for sure
I recently stayed here and would say it's more a 3 star hotel than 4 star. Yes they have a pool and gym but it's the overall experience that lets this hotel down. When first booking I was impressed with their email/phone communication but the reality when getting to the hotel did not meet the expectations promised. I made a group booking for my mother's 80th birthday and requested that the 3 rooms be on the same floor. Was delighted when promised that my mother's room would be interconnecting with the larger family room so that the younger kids could go to sleep while the adults talked in my mother's room, but this did not happen. Even on checking in early, they still promised us the interconnecting room. However the rooms were not ready, which wasn't a problem as we expected this, but when we did eventually get the keys to the room we discovered that the rooms were all separate, not adjoining at all. When I called down and asked why, they said that the interconnecting room wasn't available, however the next day when walking past it was open for cleaning and it clearly was not a large family room, so there was no way it would ever suit our needs so not sure why they promised us interconnecting rooms when the layout made that impossible. Was also told I'd receive a phone call from the manager regarding this mix up but never heard from them the entire time I was there. When making the reservation, as I had mentioned it was for my mother's 80th, was told they'd arrange a little surprise for her in the room... sadly there was nothing. Usually when staying at hotels and I've mentioned it's a milestone birthday/special occasion there would be a plate with a few chocolates/petit fours. Also one of the family rooms had activity packs for the kids, the other didn't, so a bit inconsistent. Shortly after check in I discovered my room phone was not working and when I informed them, was promised it would be fixed. Next day still not working, mentioned it again, promised it would be fixed but on check out it still was not fixed...... Had made dinner reservation for our first night and asked could they do "happy birthday" on a plate which thankfully they did so all was not lost. Dinner was ok, but had to wait 5mins for one of the mains to arrive after everyone elses and out of 3 steaks which were all ordered medium, one was well done and dry but we didn't complain as didn't want to delay the dinner any further. Some of the more junior staff need more training as when my tea arrived they carried the cup and served it to me with their hand inside the cup - ok to do that if you're clearing dirty cups away, but not when someone is going to drink out of it!!! That was rather off-putting to say the least.... Also had asked to reserve a table for breakfast both mornings, was told don't need to book, but I said I would like to given that we wanted to sit together and we were a large group, however on arriving down the first morning nothing had been forwarded to breakfast staff about the arrangement. Once again no follow through...... On the plus side the swimming pool area is lovely and the kids enjoyed using it everyday. The rooms are spacious - at least the ones we had although cleanliness does not seem to be at the top of their list. The hairdryer in my room desperately needs to be changed - it was all sticky and covered in dirt, and I couldn't use it but didn't bother saying anything given my experience with the broken phone. We had some ants in our room on returning after dinner, which was dealt with promptly after I went to reception to tell them - couldn't ring because of the unfixed phone - and told them I had put the bin outside if they could take it away, but was still there the following morning and had to mention it again on my way to breakfast. They did offer to move us to another room but I declined as once I removed the ants and they sprayed with vinegar the problem resolved itself and it was handier to stay in the vicinity of my family. The big plus is that the staff are all very friendly and cheerful. Location is excellent and not far to walk into the centre.…
Myself,my partner and 2 children stayed here for two nights while visiting cork. We had a fantastic stay. Rooms were spacious and clean, reception staff very friendly and helpful which makes such a difference. The hotel was so close to the city. A two minute walk and you are in the centre of cork city yet its in a quiet area. As there was a heatwave during our stay we had the window open all night and none of us were disturbed by noise outside. Fans were also provided to help cool the room. A short drive from foto wildlife park which is a great day out. Looking forward to returning soon!
Had my moms hen party here on Saturday. The food was amazing and the staff were brilliant, couldn’t do enough for us! Big thanks to Anne Marie, Gemma and Inta for looking after us on the night and thanks to Laura for all her help with the booking! ☺️ definitely recommend for a function! ☺️
