A brillliantly located B&B. A short walk to city centre and UCC, with great parking, friendly owners and possibly the best breakfast we've ever had! Final highlight was a lovely game of fetch with the owners adorable dog in the car-park as we were leaving! Will definitely return again.
Lovely comfortable bed, bathroom was very modern. Great location plus Tim gave us some brilliant tips on the best places to go. The breakfast choices were amazing, and huge portions. I had the smoked salmon with scrambled egg one morning and it was a full salmon fillet, smoked the traditional way plus the eggs were perfect, slightly loose and well seasoned instead of bland and dried out as you so often experience. Overall a really good experience, thank you Anam Cara!
Shabby. I'll maintained. Bathroom had major problems with shower, basin, tiles, drains & window. Breakfast choice was porridge or a range of cooked breakfasts. No cereals, fruit, croissants etc. The price was too high for the service provided. The only good things were the clean beds, the car parking and the proximity to the city centre.
The bed was huge and quite comfortable. The room was very clean. The heating was on, but adjustable. The breakfast was made to order and very tasty. The owner was very friendly. It's only 10min walk from the city center and there are many nice restaurants and pubs a few minutes away - and also free parking. Will definitely be back.
Where shall I start? The first impression was that the surrounding area around the front door looked as if it hadn't been cleaned for a very long time. You can usually judge the inside of a house by the outside. The door was answered eventually and we were shown into an untidy room on the left hand side. The owner told us various places to eat, pointed out places of interest and gave us an old map. The internet details were written (and crossed out) on a scruffy piece of paper on the wall which I took a photo of to try to decipher which one to use. The bannister wasn't very clean and the bedroom wasn't either. The furniture was very tired looking. The bedside "table" and facility for the teapot etc. was disgusting with hot water stains all over. When I made coffee the milk curdled because it was way out of date. There was 1 chair for the makeshift dressing table. When I sat on it I couldn't see the mirror because it was so high up. (And I am not short) The television was very near the ceiling too, so didn't watch it for fear of a stiff neck! The breakfast was served next door. There was a choice, but if you had porridge you couldn't have anything else. Orange juice wasn't very good quality. No cereals, croissants etc. And the toast was served on the same plate as your bacon etc. We weren't asked if we would like anything else. The back of the property looked like a scrap yard, very untidy and uncared for. We did manage to park in the front of the house. This was the most expensive B and B during our stay in Ireland, I suppose it was the location we were paying for, it certainly wasn't anything else. It is situated very near the University and there was a lot of noise from students coming and going throughout the night, although this was no fault of the owners but I think it should have been pointed out on the website. One good point - the bed was clean and comfortable. …
My wife and I stayed here recently and enjoyed our stay. As previous reviews state, this is an ideal location and is only about a 10 minute walk from the city centre. The hosts are excellent. The breakfast is excellent. We slept well and this is a good place to base yourself for exploring the surrounding areas.
This B&B lies only 10 min walk from downtown Cork so it is very convenient walking distance. The B&B itself has good beds and are more or less fully equipped in the rooms (no Iron or iron board and no safe but besides that - everything you need). Parking is free and available on the property. Breakfast is a standard Irish one with some choices. Staff is friendly and helpful and we had a nice chat with them on both arrival and departure. Recommended!
Stayed here for one night and enjoyed our stay. The location was brilliant with free parking and just a short walk to the centre of Cork. The room was basic but perfectly suitable. The shower was wonderful. Breakfast was a real surprise. We thought we were going into a broom cupboard but it opened up into the former Cafe Serendipity. A good breakfast choice and my wife says it was the best scrambled egg ever. Would recommend
Very close to city centre, walking distance to good restaurants/pubs/bars. The owners were nice, and accommodated a room request of two beds rather than the double booked. Twin room very small. Carpet was very dirty/stained. Tiny shower. You pay for the location. Breakfast at Serendipity cafe was delicious! We both had the french toast and it was stellar!
Went to see Rod Stewart in Park Ui Chaoimh with my daughter. We stayed with Tim & Aideen in Anam Cara and really enjoyed our visit. Comfortable, clean room, great full Irish breakfast and best of all such lovely, welcoming & funny hosts made our trip really special. Will definitely return again!!!
