Set on secluded, wooded grounds in the heart of Ennis town just 8 minutes walk to the town centre, Railway View House is a purpose-built bed and breakfast with six guest rooms and quality breakfasts. Hosts Kathleen Cahill and her husband Denis provide pleasing bed and breakfast accommodation in a quiet, residential setting. Railway View House is easy to reach by car and just a short walk into town. Kathleen is a sweet and kindly lady, pleased to dispense advice. There is a comfortable lounge also at your disposal with a TV and library should you feel the urge to unwind after your day's travel. Just fifteen minutes drive to Shannon Airport. We arrived in Ennis with nowhere to stay and were sent to the Railway View house per recommndation of another Bed and Breakfast. It was nearly 8:30pm when we arrived to this beautiful home. Traveling together my grandmother and mom and I had had a long day, Kathleen Cahill welcomed us warmly and showed us to a wonderful room. Of our 10 days in Ireland this room was by far the nicest and the largest we stayed in. We had three beds, huge closets, wood floors and a nice bathroom. Kathleen then recommended that we head out to a place called Brogden's for dinner. With great directions we found this location and had a wonderful dinner. The next morning we came to the dinning room with tables set for each group and sat for breakfast looking out over a mature garden of flowers and green lawns. Kathleen came and talked to us at length about the area, why were had come as three generations to Ireland etc. Her welcome and warm conversations made this stay one of the best during our trip. I would highly recommend staying at this B & B to anyone.

Our hosts were lovely, breakfast delightful, and rooms spacious and charming. Great bed. Shower had the strongest water pressure we have ever experienced in Ireland! Picture perfect grounds which I simply forgot to photograph and lovely view of grounds and garden from our bedroom window. Roses and lilies appear to be a gardening specialty. Ask for the room above the breakfast room and you won't worry about your footfalls at night. Piano in parlor! Lovely spot from which to visit famous music festival in Ennis.

Owners were very friendly and we really enjoyed our stay. The room that we had was upstairs and the bathroom was down three steps--all private. Comfortable beds and very clean. Great Irish breakfast. Property was nicely landscaped and was about a mile from center of town. Definitely would stay here again.

Made reservations several months in advance for this B&B for 6 nights. We arrived from a overnight flight from US and after searching for almost a hour to find it (with GPS) no one was home or answered the phone. We left and came back later and same situation. We had nowhere to stay. Terrible situation!

I chose this B & B because of reviews on TripAdvisor. The place looked nice and was in a quiet location but the bed wasn't comfortable. Also, even though I wasn't expecting this, the other B & Bs we had stayed in had offered a choice of breakfast and this place did not.

Just got back from ireland and stayed at the Railway View our first and last nights. i called kathleen cahill about 10 days before our arrival to make sure we could arrive early in the day to take a nap before touring. kathleen said we could, but wasn't home when we arrived at the appointed hour. kathleen wouldn't gurantee our reservation for the last night until the night before. we were given the room on the top floor with the double bed and two twins. the shower was the worst we encountered all week. the water temperature alternated between very HOT and very COLD...all at the same setting.

We found this B&B easily as the driveway was well signed at the road entrance.
We had an upstairs room which had a double and single bed in it. The room was fairly crammed and would have been better without the extra bed. There was no luggage rest and so we had to place our suitcase in the wardrobe to access it. Our only other alternative would have been to place it on the spare bed which I do not believe is good practice when someone has to sleep in it next.
The bed was not comfortable due in part to the thick plastic mattress protector which creased and rustled with even minor movement.
The pillows were flat and uncomfortable. I can not understand why B&B hosts do not replace pillows more often as they make such a difference to sleep quality.
The bed did have a top sheet which we really appreciate, and the window fly screens would be a real asset in the insect season.
The shower lacked any toiletries other than hand wash which is rare in these days, particularly as the price was cash only and at 70 euros is not cheap. I can therefore only rate this as an average stay.
The hosts were however most welcoming and breakfast was tasty and adequate.

My wife, daughter and I visited in early June. The B&B was off a very small drive way, off a main drive.

The room was a little on the small side, but very cool, with lots of wood. It was warm that night, and they did not have extra fans for guests, but the lady of the house did wash a load of clothes for me.

I would recommend this B&B.

The area wasn’t amazing, but we came for what surrounded it.

There is a one or two week window, generally when the local kids are having their final tests, when the weather is amazing. We packed for cool and damp, but had to rewash and wear the few summer (Shorts and t-shirts) we had. Be prepared for anything, but in early June you might see sunny and 75 every day!

Excellent location, great room (room 1), and extremely helpful and sweet hosts. Breakfast is delicious. We were even sent off with a bag of fresh fruit for our day of exploring. Kathleen (the host) made sure we had everything we needed and helped us find something to do on a rainy day. The rooms were very clean and comfortable. Shower was excellent. There was a blow dryer in the room and an iron if needed. I cannot wait to stay here again.

Denis was helpful and location is within easy walking distance to the town centre. Our room was number 2 . The mattress an pillows were not up to standard expected. The bed squeaked every time you rolled over and the fan from the adjoining room's shower was very noisy. Breakfast was average. Would not stay again and wouldn't recommend.
