We enjoyed a really pleasant overnight stay earlier this week. The booking process was so friendly & meeting Gemma in person at Reception was so nice.
The pristine cleanliness of the Foyer, the hand sanitising units & the air of freshness was obvious immediately. We were allocated R511. & it also was spotlessly clean fresh & welcoming. Towels were new & fluffy, Tea/Coffee , Individual Toiletries, pristine Bedding(& comfortable Bed/pillows., large Flat screen TV. Perfect.
We went down to the Bar where again all was in accordance with Covid 19 regulations... waited to be seated, tables set well apart, staff wearing masks & a most welcome bite & drink.
Breakfast was very pleasant ...all cold items sealed & covered( fruit, juices, pastries etc ) I think a Breakfast Menu on arrival would be helpful . The very pleasant Staff were extremely pressured & the hot food, while very tasty, needed to be warmed before we could enjoy it..& we did. Tea/Coffee at Breakfast served with Toast etc at allocated Table. All distancing regulations carefully adhered to. I had felt a little wary of having a night away during these trying times but thoroughly enjoyed our experience at the Auburn Lodge. We will definitely return soon.

We had a very enjoyable experience at the Auburn Lodge. The rate of €62 was excellent value to include breakfast, room, free parking and use of pool.

Róisín at reception was lovely. Mike in the leisure centre was very accommodating. We reserved our spaces in the pool prior to our arrival for an hour on Saturday evening and an hour on Sunday morning.

Breakfast was a hot and cold buffet, which was really delicious: full Irish selection of sausages, eggs and so forth, cereals, pancakes, fruit, yogurt, toast, juices etc.
Night porter was very friendly too.
Nice big window in the bedroom so plenty of fresh air.

The ensuite bathroom could be cleaner around the tiles and shower mat - my one observation for improvement.
Walls are fairly thin as we could hear someone unplugging an item from a socket in their room and the following morning we could hear voices on their way to breakfast.

We stayed 5 nights, the hotel is in need of updating. The carpets were worn and there are spiders everywhere.

Covid measures are not good, no social distancing in the bar, kids were running around the tables in the restaurant and bar.

There was old tissues left under the desk in the bedroom and one fresh towel was stained yellow.

The staff are so nice and they can't do enough for you. They're under a lot of pressure though.

Majority of the staff are really young, 18-25 range. Service was very slow because there are too many tables for them to look after.

The cleaners are under a lot of pressure and they come in everyday and make the beds and give fresh towels.

I felt sorry for the staff they're working over 12 hour shifts and one worker said she had worked over two weeks without a day off.

The hotel is in a great location and it looks lovely from the outside, the room was very comfortable for us.

Food was hit and miss, nicer in the restaurant but it's only open Thursday to Sunday. The bar food and breakfast are served in the ballroom. The food the first night was not nice and made me feel sick but the restaurant food was so good.

Arrived late in the evening for a 2 night stay which was supposed to be a €99.00 special to be told we would have to pay a supplement of €79.00, which was then reduced to €59.00 when the receptionist outlined the charges individually and it came to €59.00 not €79.00 very odd and not a great start. We where in room 404 which is about as far a walk to a room in a hotel as I have ever had to make.

On the way to the room it was clear this hotel is run on a budget, old style doors, narrow corridors old style carpets (you get the picture). Got to the room and surprise surprise the key card didn’t work, walk all the way back to reception to have it re-programmed, back to the room to be greeted by a pretty bad smell, very old style room and extremely basic. Its worth noting that the key card let us down consistently.

The reason I would recommend a good manager is that Hotels excel on the detail but when they get the big stuff wrong its BAD, I told the receptionist 3 times on the Saturday between 11.00 and 20.30 that’s the men’s toilets had no soap, next day (Sunday) I was getting ready to leave at 13.00 and still no soap?? No rolls of loo roll just the old style napkin squares (cheap)

Ok so lets move on to the bar, nice and cosy good atmosphere - so a good start – that’s where it ends, this trip will go down in my memory for the first time in about 20 years I have had to send a pint of Guinness back, it was awful (likely to make you ill). We ordered food which came relatively quickly and was pretty good (5/10) kids had a basic plate of chips and some chicken - hard to get it wrong to be honest.

Booked in to the restaurant for the second night and the food again was pretty ok however the service was 10 out of 10, a young man served us and he was fantastic a real asset to the hotel.

Breakfast in the morning was also a nice experience again the staff are very hard working and attentive to the guests.

The leisure centre has a pool for the kids however I would advise you have your googles as the chlorine will burn the eyes out of your head.

All in all I would give the hotel a 4 out of 10.
I would give the staff a 8/10
The food a 5/10
The Guinness a 0/10 (Diageo are you listening? Theses guys need your help)

So if I was going back to Claire would I stay here again 100% NO

The lady at check in was so warm and friendly. I felt immediately welcome. The hotel advertises itself as a 3* hotel and it delivers what’s in the label. It provides simple, clean, affordable accommodation. There is ample parking on the premises.

There is a spa available to guests and this was very enjoyable.

I ate dinner at the hotel and this was again very good. There was a decent selection to choose from. I ate steak and it was very tender. Where things went slightly wrong was when I returned to the bar to order dessert. A server, possibly the manager, as he was wearing a suit, not only cleared my plates but removed my half used drinks. When this was drawn to his attention they were replaced and I noted that the original charge was removed from my bill as a gesture of goodwill. That was a nice touch.

Breakfast was your standard buffet fayre and that was of a good quality. There was no one on the desk to receive guests and see them however the restaurant was very quiet.

I had a pleasant and comfortable stay at the Auburn Lodge and would certainly recommend it to anyone seeking no-frills yet comfortable accommodation

We stayed here for 5 nights B&B and 4 evening meals. The staff were really lovely and helpful. The kids loved the pool, just make sure and book a few days in advance of arriving. Anytime we asked for extra towels for the pool, we had them up to the room within 5 minutes. Our evening meals were always nice and only an extra fiver for a very tasty sirloin steak and all the trimmings. Decor of hotel reflects a 3 star hotel to be fair, this was reflected in the price we paid so we ain't complaining . We found beds to be comfortable and based on other reviews I brought my own pillow but nobody else did as they usually only sleep on one pillow so everyone slept well. We felt we got value for money so would recommend.

We stayed here for 1 night as a couple with 1 child. When we checked in we were told that our stay was for room only, even though we had booked and paid for breakfast. After showing our booking on booking.com our booking was changed to breakfast included!

The room and hotel were fine - nothing special but they were clean!
The food in the bar was so so so bad! We wouldn’t be fussy eaters at all. But all three of us left 90% of our food on our plates. We had the fish and chips. I have honestly had better from a chipper. Definitely would advise people to eat elsewhere. Staff were nice though. The breakfast wasn’t much better and is very unorganised- we couldn’t find anyone to ask for a cup of tea.

The leisure centre has certain times which allow kids into the pool. We brought my son down to go swimming twice (which was actually the only reason we stayed in this hotel as we knew it had a pool and all he wanted to do was go swimming) and both times we were told to come back as the pool was too full. So we left with a very unhappy 4 year old also!
Do not recommended and definitely won’t be back!

Stayed 2 nights, arrived at 4.45, girl on reception was friendly, checked in & got our key card, when we got to the room it hadn't even been cleaned after the previous guests, went back down to reception, the girl apologised & said it would be ready in few minutes, some cleaning it was going to get in a few minutes. After about 10 mins the receptionist offered us another room & apologised for the cleaners being slow. There was dust in the wardrobe which didn't appear overnight, looked like it wasn't dusted in months. No clean towels left into the room the 2 days we were there, had to ask one of the housekeeping staff for towels & toilet paper. Only stayed there cause the reviews were good. Other than that the staff were friendly & polite & food was lovely

I'm a local in the area and have supported this Hotel for several years now by eating and drinking in the Bar Restaurant. On Friday 14th/08th/2020 we entered at approx. 19.40pm at the balyalla suit only to be to be refused. The waiter who gave us unsatisfactory answer said and I quote “I have 200 booked in and arriving soon” and he could not accommodate us. I made a suggestion to eat at a bench at the front or in the main bar but he was not willing to accommodate us. There was no effort to rebook us for another night, no satisfactory reason. I would also like to add there were no more than 25 customers in the Ballyalla suit at this moment and time. We left disgusted and i felt compelled to email the Hotel to let shine some light on two items. 1. why he refused us so rudely 2. why he could have 200 people in during a pandemic.
I got an email back from the person I dealt with which I felt was very confrontational as his email was it was "HIS" decision. Not "us" as a hotel but his own. A real figure of authority but never signed his name to the email. If you google "Customer Care" google give you free advice and I suggest this person does so.
I wont be back to this hotel again and will not see use their gym now as a result. I feel I was judged by my appearance and because we had a buggy with us.

I will spread my bad experience through this community that is right on your door step who support ye through the off season.

Just home from a lovely stay in the Auburn. Yes, our room was very dated and needs updating as does the en-suite but it was clean and comfortable. The rest of the hotel was lovely. The swimming pool area was great, water was lovely and warm and you just book your time. You have to change in your bedroom and bring the towels from there but that has it’s advantages when trying to change 2 small kids after. Maybe bring a dressing gown to make it easier again. The breakfast was first come first served but there wasn’t any queue when we got there before 9 and the choice was as expected, full Irish fry and then the usual cereals, brown bread, juices, yogurts and fruit. All were very tasty and the room is quite large so plenty of space. The dinner was lovely too, we had the dinner included but it was the same menu as someone paying directly which we though was very fair as a lot of places we stayed in have a different menu when your meals are included. There was approx a choice of 4 starters, mains and deserts so plenty to choose from in our opinion. I had the chicken and it was fab and my husband loved his steak and he can be fussy when it comes to steak. Service was very good and the servers were great with my kids and very welcoming and attentive. We had a few drinks in the bar after which had a great atmosphere and I loved the table service. The prices were reasonable too. Overall, we really enjoyed our stay. We found it excellent value for money and aside from the dated bedrooms, we still would recommend this hotel given the great special offers that they have.
