The 4-star Temple Gate welcomes you to a charming, family owned and managed hotel in the heart of Ennis Town, County Clare. It offers the perfect location from which you can explore the Wild Atlantic Way and the rugged West Coast of Ireland including The Cliffs of Moher. Temple Gate Hotel offers a unique blend of warm hospitality and friendly service which makes it an inspired choice whether for business or pleasure. The hotel is discreetly situated just off Ennis Town centre, and a short walk through the warm glow of the Victorian lamps in the cobblestoned courtyard leads guests to the heart of the historical and vibrant town of Ennis. The hotel rests on the site of a 19th century Convent of Mercy with a fascinating and eventful history. Prior to its conversion to a convent, the original houses, Row House and Lifford House, was the property of Charles O’Connell, cousin of Daniel O’Connell. He was a frequent visitor to the area particularly in the years 1827 to 1829 when planning his election campaign. The Sisters of Mercy moved from the Ennis Convent in 1995 to new premises nearby. The hotel was clean and comfy. The staff was very nice. We stayed as part of a coach tour and when we arrived the staff was on hand to assist with anything we needed for the night. That night was the end of our tour and the staff was very helpful the next morning with making sure we met our transfer to the airport. They even held our luggage for us because our pickup time was after check out. We went walking near the hotel and there are many nice shops and restaurants nearby. We didn't have a lot of free time, but there were things to do within walking distance. Had lunch at the pub in the hotel and it was good food, fast service. Would recommend.

Very convenient for the centre of Ennis. We were able to find spots to park outside the hotel but were probably lucky. However there are spaces available in the big car park if you speak to reception. Good breakfast and pleasant staff throughout; reception, bar, restaurant and housekeeping. Only negative was the rooms were very warm so we had to have windows open and our room overlooked where the buses pulled in. Do stick your head into the Great Hall - preserved from the old convent.

In 30 Years, as a business traveller, staying all over the world, I have never had such an excellent cooked breakfast, Bacon, Egg, Sausage and puddings. Beautiful produce, beautifully cooked to order, piping hot on a hot plate. So good. All served by the delightful staff! Thank you!

Overall stay was lovely. Beautiful hotel, absolutely stunning!!! Great location, super comfy and clean throughout. Staff were friendly and helpful. The only downside was the restaurant within the hotel actually. If this is not attached to hotel as entity, I would be happy to retract following comments. Irish stew was cabbage soup, but we were starving and ate it all but you would expect to get something better than what you could cook at home and this wasn't it. And at breakfast when we asked for bread, we had to follow up several times before it was brought and we had nearly finished the breakfast by then. All that said, we'll be back but possibly would choose to eat elsewhere.

The hotel is quaint, beautiful and welcoming. It is easy to get to from Shannon and conveniently located. An easy walk to town. Unfortunately, our room's bathroom only produced hot water, and our 2nd room had a bad leak in the ceiling. Our 3rd room was just fine. The staff felt bad and was very helpful to remedy the situation quickly. We had breakfast included and it was plentiful and delicious. We would stay here again.

We had an exceptionally wonderful stay here. Right off the bat, Ryan at the front desk was welcoming and very knowledgeable. He answered all of our questions and helped us plan our journey for the next day. You would think that's as good as it could get ... but then things got even better. Our son was wearing an Irish step dance shirt and another member of the staff has a championship Irish step dancer in the family. We were welcomed into the hotel bar to share feis stories and talk about our love of Irish culture and dance. Obviously, that was a joy. The food in the pub was good as well, which was a bonus. The next morning not only did we enjoy a great continental breakfast in the restaurant, but an encouraging note was waiting for our son from the champion step dancer. Honestly, you can not find a more caring person than Stephanie in the bar. She made our trip unforgettable. The room was charming and comfortable. The next day we ran into the hotel owner, John, who was also wonderful to speak to and knowledgeable about the future legs of our journey. The location of this hotel is perfect for people looking to explore Ennis and also be close by to pubs, restaurants, Dunnes, pharmacies, and more ice cream shops than you can count. We were only there one night but could have easily stayed longer. Cannot recommend it highly enough!

Staff were pleasant. The hotel is in a good central location. Nice food , restaurant and bar areas. The room was a good size, but I’d say the decor and carpets and bathrooms in the bedroom I stayed in needed refreshing and updating in places. However the bed was comfortable.

Our large family group of 14 visited Ireland for a week and stayed at this beautiful hotel for one night. Absolutely fantastic hotel with lovely friendly staff. Brilliant central location with on site parking. The hotel has lots of history and is so pretty, be sure to look at the impressive great hall. The restaurants are fab and very popular. Would definitely visit again.

The staff were very nice and the parking was free. The rooms were very nice, the beds comfortable. The hotel food was good and a nice pour of Guinness. We enjoyed a walk around the town as the hotel was centrally located. I would definitely recommend Temple Gate.
