We had to find a hotel quickly after our booking on the Clare coast turned out to be awful. Temple Gate Hotel was a welcome refuge - a real hotel! The staff was very professional. The room was clean, if small, and comfortable. The restaurant was super & the breakfast was super, too. Very satisfied. Ennis is a fun place to visit.
On the early morning of the 7th of this month i had the pleasure to meet Nial, the manager, who was so helpfull and kind. He let me charge my mobile, gave me a cup of coffee and also a comfortable chair close to hall recepction. The building is impresive, wood and stone. An Old Abadie from XIII Century. On the reception was a lovely girl, Slaodhne, or Clena as it sounds. Her smile and talk move me. Thanks you for your kindness and good nature. Send you my best vibrations.
Located in the center of town, we really enjoyed our stay at this beautiful hotel. It is right in the middle of the town and the staff are lovely and kids are welcome. The rooms are clean and comfortable, and the pub had great food and good service--best breakfast in ennis!!!!! Why pay a load of money when this hotel is just as good as most in the area- better if you like a good breakfast
I visited The Courtyard today for the first time and it will be my last. My pizza was okay, nothing amazing but I'm not complaining about that. We live in a country where we can drink our tap water but was forced to buy bottle of water here. After I finished eating I had a cup of terrible coffee served in a paper cup. My daughter requested a scoop of ice-cream for her 2 year old. We were told they didn't serve ice-cream. She then suggested that she would go into the hotel and bring it out to the child herself. The staff member told her that would not be allowed. Please remember that today was quite hot. When I got my coffee the table was full of boards used to serve pizza on but none of the staff (and there were plenty on duty) thought to remove them. Empty bottles fell on to the ground, we picked them up several times but the breeze kept knocking them over again. No staff member thought to take them away. So, before getting mediocre pizza, bottles of water (when we would have been happy with free tap water), awful coffee in a paper cup, plastic cutlery, refusal of ice-cream for a toddler we paid €60. Saw on the menu that glass of wine is €7.50...way too expensive! I'm sure the students who gathered at nearby tables didn't purchase much and this outdoor area will only have that clientele going forward as there is nothing to bring paying customers back. It could so easily be a reminder of a holiday abroad and should be a really busy, atmospheric spot in the centre of town but, in truth, it feels like an Irish rip-off.…
The hotel is ok for its price. Perhaps a 4 star for location but otherwise, 4 star is a bit of a stretch. No ice machine available. You must trouble the bartender at The Pub if you want a pitcher of ice. The poor half shower door design left a puddle after each shower. Breakfast was not included with my pre-paid reservation through a third party. It would be an add-on for extra charge. The pub food was above average for the price. Nothing special. No air conditioning in the room.
Had Sunday lunch with family last week which was lovely however we were charged €14.95 for a half roast beef dinner for a 4 year old. Now in my opinion that is total ripoff and will discourage locals and tourists alike from eating there in future.
Located in the center of town, we really enjoyed our stay at this beautiful hotel. The rooms are clean and comfortable, and the pub had great food and good service--best breakfast of the entire trip. Highly recommend!
Fabulous room and service at a wonderful price! The food in the pub and Temple Restaurant was extraordinary. Breakfast was included and was delicious ..buffet or cooked as ordered. Parking was included and the hotel is located minutes away from town center.
My now husband and I stayed here both the night before our wedding and the night of our wedding. My husband LOVES to golf, and Marie (the manager, I believe) called down to the golf course and set up a tee time for him that evening. The next morning, I somehow managed to burn a hole right through my wedding dress! Again, Marie was there to save the day! She helped my husband find a place to fix it, called them and explained what was going on, and sent my husband on his way- they had it done within an hour! ON OUR WEDDING DAY! The entire staff was so nice and helpful, you could tell they just really wanted you to have the best time. One of the bartenders was explaining hurling (sp?) to us because I had seen so many signs about it. Not once did we feel like we were a burden or bothering anyone. They were all so very welcoming. When I make it to Ireland again, I have every intention of coming back here to stay for at least a few nights!…
The hotel is in a brilliant location bang in the center of Ennis. My room was an adequate size, comfortable, clean and very quiet. There is excellent bar food and it was easy to get a table on both occasions. The staff on reception were very obliging and the bar staff were very friendly. Why would you not go to the Temple?
