A wonderfully relaxed, tranquil, comfortable and homely place to stay. My extended family and I occupied several rooms, double, family and apartments all of which were bright, clean, comfortable and spacious, with lots of storage space and a beautiful view of the garden and river. One of the rooms we stayed in had a low-level shower with a wet-room style cubicle, raised toilet and grab rails suitable for my 90 year old mother. The newly refurbished apartments have 2 generous sized comfortable double beds, a sofa bed and a very functional compact kitchen with full-sized fridge and microwave - perfect for preparing a continental breakfast or light meal. The modern bathroom with traditional and rain shower was a real bonus! The manager John and his family have to be commended on their energy and enthusiasm renovating a guesthouse during a very challenging time for small businesses, coupled with construction materials becoming so expensive and difficult to source. Each morning and evening we enjoyed a catch-up on the decked area or in the communal dining room. There is a Petrol/diesel station close-by, a Lidl with 5-10mins walk perfect for picking up food. There’s a McDonalds and a sports park where my teenagers enjoyed playing football within approx 15-20mins walk. Ennis town is approx 30mins walk. Lake Ballyallia is less than 10 minutes walk away. The lake has woodland walks around it, water sports, and we observed the most amazing sunset there!

We were phoned on the morning of our one night stay to be advised that the hotel had overbooked and were we still coming as they had booked? When we said we were and that they had already taken payment, they said that would be fine. Not an auspicious start. We arrived at around 4 into the large car park outside and rang the bell. Nobody appeared. We rang again and waited for another 10 minutes. Still nothing. We wandered around the place but finding no-one, decided to explore Ennis and try later. We then phoned and were told what the pass codes were and that he would leave the door of our room open and the key on the bed. Thus we checked in without seeing anyone! Ennis is several miles away and the walk is not particularly pleasant. Therefore if you want to pop into town, a car or a taxi is advisable. The room was in the new part of the hotel and there were no carpets in the corridor and lots of signs of ongoing building work. The room itself was absolutely enormous with two big double beds and what looked like half a fitted kitchen against the wall. Patio doors opened up to a huge outdoor space with decking and a river at the bottom. Beds were clean and comfortable and the bathroom was very nice. However the TV didn't work, the internet was useless and when we complained the guy told us that they hadn't finished everything and we could only get Netflix at the moment. That didn't work either so we gave up, sat outside, watched the river and then slept in our enormous beds. Patio doors are good when you are awake but there were no other windows, so when you go to bed, you either leave these doors open or sleep in a fully enclosed environment. Not ideal. Our room cost £135 and that seemed plenty without breakfast. As there was also so little engagement, I don't think I would choose to stay again as it felt more like an AirBnB than a guesthouse and I like places to be a bit more welcoming. But if you want a massive room, kitchen facilities and a big garden to run around, this place would be perfect.

Stayed one night prior to a hen party the next day. Booked via Airbnb, didn't have much contact prior despite a message i had sent confirming I could arrive after 9pm due to my flight. They apologised for this as I arrived 2 minutes before they would have closed! Check in was swift and problem-less and I was shown to a nice quiet room. Shower was powerful and warm which was bliss. Plenty of towels as the room was made up with two double beds. I was very cold and had to use the duvet from the other bed as well as my own, couldn't work the radiator in my room. TV worked fine although had limited channels. Had a very good information pack on what to do nearby. I left early the next morning and didn't get to say bye or thank them. So thank you!

This was the best B&B/Guesthouse stay we had in Ireland. The only negative thing we could say was the bathrooms are outdated but they were still very clean compared to others we stayed at and the water pressure was great. The staff here were very friendly, the rooms were big and our kids loved the animal statues outside and running on the big grass area at the back. The area is very quiet, so quiet we slept in longer then we should have.

No Fuss Booking and Allowed us into our Room slightly Early. Only downside was asking to use the Gymnasium and being told it was already in use ...? Fishing and BBQ Facilities in a Very Pleasant Area are also Available.

I stayed one night here over Christmas en route to a wedding in Limerick. There were guests in the room next door to me playing music really loudly and smoking in the bedroom. I needed to be up very early in the morning for the wedding and wanted a good sleep. I knocked on the wall and the music was turned up. I messaged the guesthouse on booking.com and the night manager went to the room and told them to turn the music down. Unfortunately as soon as the manager was gone the music got louder and they started shouting. This went on ALL NIGHT. I messaged the guesthouse again around 3am and the manager said he could put me in a different room. The behaviour of the other guests made it a miserable stay, but I was happy that the guesthouse offered me another room. There was no one at the desk when I checked out in the morning so I couldn't discuss possibly getting a discount/refund.

I am leaving Ardilaun Guesthouse tomorrow after booking a 2 night stay. I deliberately chose a guesthouse rather than a hotel but I now wish I’d chosen a small family-run bed & breakfast. This guesthouse is, in my view, large enough to have a full-time day & night receptionist. On arrival I had to ring a bell as reception was unmanned & had to wait in the porch. The welcome from the man I found out today is the manager was pleasant but perfunctory. I was asked what time I wanted breakfast & that he assumed I wanted a full Irish. My room, number 5, was fine with a few of the river. I use a CPAP but there were no sockets by the bed. Fine, my OSA is moderate so 2 nights without a CPAP won’t kill me. I do find it strange though, in 2020, with people charging phones, iPads etc, to have no sockets beside the bad. Anyway last night, my neighbours in room 3, a woman with at least 2 men, decided to party, loud music, talk, laughter & more that I’ll leave to the imagination of people reading this review. As there is no staff member around at night & no phone in the room or any number to call, this led to a real problem for me in terms of getting any sleep. I ended up hammering on the wall a few times. They finally, after the 3rd or 4th time I did this, decide to settle down for the night, at about 2am. This is why I believe staying in a small family run B & B would have been better. The owners of such premises take pride in their product. Clearly the owners of Ardilaun Guesthouse take no such pride in their business. I wouldn’t stay here again, I like a business that cares about its customers.

I stayed with my boyfriend for the weekend while travelling through west coast. Great location, comfortable room and cute back view with a deck and lake. The Atlantic way is really close by as well as Ennis. Safety protocol was provided, which it was important.
