Stayed at this hotel last night as part of my birthday celebrations. Nothing was too much trouble for any of the staff, when we arrived we were a little early for checking in but it wasn't a problem, we were given a complimentary upgrade to an executive room which was stunning. Our package included a cream tea which served in the drawing room with a lovely glass of wine. Dinner was served in the Chaplins restaurant and again was excellent. The whole hotel was spotlessly clean and coronovirus rules were carried out with plenty of sanitizers and social distancing. All in all we had a wonderful day and evening and will certainly go back. Thank you to everyone for making our stay so enjoyable

I visited the Newton for "High Tea" and was HIGHLY disappointed! The waitress was lovely but the rest, Oh My. ONE scone each, fruit only and no butter! The sandwiches, the worst I've ever had. Seriously! Dry, no filling, cheap bread, we literally left them. The cakes seemed like left over cake cut up and served to us. The macaroons were very dense. Honestly, its £20 per person. I would not have spent £5. Super duper disappointed. Such a let down. The Newton used to have a fabulous reputation and kitchen, what happened???

My wife and I stayed last night and had a lovely time. From the moment we arrived we where made to feel very welcome. The staff where really friendly and helpful. We ate in the Charlie Chaplin restaurant and the food was amazing. The hotel are serious in regards to ensuring Covid measures are being adhered to and every where was spotless. The breakfast was lovely with high quality ingredients used. We took the time to visit the resident Highland Coos in the field across from the hotel. I would like to thank all the staff at the hotel for making our stay so lovely. We are now looking into booking another stay soon.

We booked a deal through groupon for dinner B&B and a scone tea. Wonderful value for money. Room was beautiful, bathroom was amazing. Scone tea was a lovely extra and nice after a walk along the beach. Dinner was way above expectations, starters were superb, none of us managed to finish our fabulous mains, but we all managed our desserts. Wine was perfectly reasonable priced. Breakfast was pre ordered the night before and was everything it should be. Booking again today for another weekend before we have even left. Loved the decor, a surprise round every corner, and the most beautiful carpets.

We stayed two nights here using a voucher from 5pm. The hotel is imposing and sits in large grounds. The decor is clean and, in places, quite quirky. We upgraded to an executive room and it was large and very comfortable. The beds were super comfy and the bathroom large and well appointed. The room had a large TV in a cabinet but unfortunately, the shelf it sat on had a considerable layer of dust. Covid regulations were being adhered to very strictly on other areas, this was obviously an oversight, which their Head Housekeeper should have picked up on. The ladies on reception were very welcoming and friendly, the lady who organised and served breakfast (on her own!) needed a medal. Lovely and welcoming. We were given a sheet to fill in each night giving our breakfast choices and the time we would be eating. Worked very well. We had dinner on one evening as part of the deal. The food was very nice and well presented. The waiter/maître d’ unfortunately, needed a lesson in how to handle customers. He was verging on the surly. He demanded that we give him all our choices, starter, main and dessert, at the outset. I asked for the salted caramel cheesecake, to be told, quite abruptly, that it was actually raspberry! When it arrived, it very evidently wasn’t raspberry but a very dark, rich chocolate, garnished with strawberry and pomegranate. I said I couldn’t eat rich chocolate (gives me migraine) and wouldn’t have ordered it if I’d known this. He was really quite off hand and reluctantly, I felt, took it away and offered me plain ice cream. No real apology for having a misleading menu. Rather he pointed to it saying “ it has raspberry flavour on top” - it didn’t. We also had a cream tea with either Pimms or Prosecco as part of the deal. The cream tea consisted of two tiny scones, a small dish of cream and two sachets of jam - no butter and no sign of the Pimms/Prosecco option. A wee bit disappointing. All in all, our stay was very pleasant but the owners of this hotel could do so much more to make the decor/ambiance more sumptuous, given what they have to work with. It feels a bit bland and dated in its decor.
