My boyfriend booked this hotel as a surprise for my birthday. Per recommendations from my sisters husband who came here every year as a child and highly recommended it. My boyfriend who has lost his job twice this year due to covid and myself being a student this was a lot of money for him to fork out, however we were disappointed with some elements of the hotel. Our room did have a wonderful sea view however it was not like the picture. He had paid extra for an upgraded room and we just don’t feel this is what we got. It certainly did not mirror the image on the marketing/advertising. It was a lovely room with a stunning bathroom, great views and nice and clean but was very small and just didn’t look at all like the image online of the upgraded room. So we were left in doubt if this was actually the correct room but didn’t like to make a fuss incase it was just a case of a good website making it look bigger/better. The hotel staff were friendly and helpful, particularly the young man working at the leisure area. We absolutely adored the outdoor hot tub and got good use of this. It was hard to ever drag ourself away from it. Breakfast was quite good. It was far tastier on the Sunday morning compared with the Saturday morning however, we assumed a different chef? We also heard other guests saying they thought it was a different chef. We don’t drink tea or coffee really so asked for a hot chocolate and mocha instead to go with our breakfast. I don’t feel this should be a problem at all but we were charged for this when checking out of the hotel. But only charged for one of the mornings drinks not both, which doesn’t really make sense? The tennis courts are wonderful and an excellent facility as well. And great free parking at the hotel. Again the restaurant just let this hotel down. We really wished we had been staying room only rather than on a package deal with meals included. We had our evening meal and afternoon tea at the restaurant and thought both were poor. This is the only thing that really lets this stunning hotel down. The staff uniforms in the restaurant however are lovely and very professional. I would love to go back but certainly wouldn’t eat in the hotel itself.

This hotel has adapted beautifully to the covid restrictions. Beautiful and well cooked menu adapted well to the covid era. Food full of flavour. Great range of gin. Rooms are lovely. Nice mix of old school and modern. Spa facilities and services were great. Staff were very accommodating to me as a solo guest. It can sometimes be daunting travelling on your own but the team were lovely. This really was a lovely way to spend a few days. Reminds you of how nice a holiday locally can be. Rather glad my flights to Iceland were cancelled and I booked this stay instead.

We have just returned from a weekend break with friends. The hotel feels very Covid safe, with numerous hand sanitizers around the hotel, contactless checking in procedure and social distancing. We had a sea view feature room (room 8) with a lovely view over the gardens to the moray firth, the bathroom was lovely and spacious with copper roll top bath taking pride of place, which also had a TV at the end ! We had dinner both nights in the hotel and the quality of both food and service was superb. After dinner we then had drinks in the lounge, which again was so relaxing. Breakfast choice was again up to a very high standard and the staff were always helpful. This was our first stay in this hotel but it will not be our last.

We celebrated our daughter’s wedding with a high tea reception at this lovely hotel. They excelled in coping with our various dietary requirements, providing superb vegetarian and vegan options (both savoury and sweet), as well as the more usual non-vegan options. We were all so impressed. Our thanks to the Chef, to the management and to the attendant serving staff who collectively helped make our wee celebration so successful.
