Premier Inn Fort William Hotel offers an array of modern Premier Plus rooms that have earned praise for their comfort and amenities like air conditioning and fridges. However, guests have expressed concerns about meal availability and the location of premium rooms. While the hotel's cleanliness generally receives commendations, some travelers have encountered minor issues. Opinions vary on value, with high prices and outdated elements sometimes overshadowing the comfort provided. The hotel's atmosphere and rooms are a blend of the contemporary and the dated, requiring attention in some areas. Conveniently situated, the hotel allows easy access to local attractions and services, yet service quality appears inconsistent, ranging from warm and helpful to less attentive encounters.

I was staying here for 8 nights in early October. The hotel is quite well located. Not bang in the centre of Fort William but only about 5 minutes walk to the top end of the main shopping street and a similar distance to the rail station. There is a Morrisons and McDonalds close by and free parking. The room are large, clean well equipped and comfortable.

I hoped to come back next year. However I had some problems during my stay. Not the fault of the hotel but still left wondering whether to book for next year.

I was here for a walking trip, much of it in Knoydart, which has no mobile signal. If you want breakfast or dinner at the hotel you must book and specify a time. Difficult when I don't know exactly what time I'll get back to the hotel when setting off and in an area with no mobile signal this is difficult.

So a few times I could not get an evening meal at the hotel because by the time I got back into mobile signal range all the "slots" were taken. Even when they were available, often an hour away so a long wait. An irritation but Fort William has plenty of other places to eat or drink. Or it did, when I arrived.

The issue was that during my stay Queen Sturgeon of Scotland dictated that all restaurants shall be closed at 6pm. Now this is not the hotels fault, but it meant the only place to eat is the hotel restaurant. which was allowed to stay open but only serve hotel residents. Unfortunately this meant the restaurant decided to remove the ability to book a time slot for an evening meal from the website. Now you could only book it from hotel reception in person. So even less chance of getting a slot as I now couldn't book until I got back to the hotel (rather than within mobile range) and now every where else is closed too, so no alternative.

So some nights I had to resort to getting cold food from Morrisons to eat since everywhere else was closed and the hotel restaurant was "full". Even when I could get a place Queen Sturgeon of Scotland also dictated you are not allowed to drink alcohol anymore unless you go outside. So if you wanted even a single drink with your meal I was told they would serve it only outside and you'd have to drink it all up before being allowed back in the restaurant. Ridiculous to be treated like a naughty child for wanting to have a drink.

This combined with the need to wear a mask everywhere except in your room and that the rooms are no longer cleaned during your stay, it was not what I hoped. Unless the situation changes soon I think I will look at self-catering next year. One of the nice things about a hotel stay is no need to spend your time cleaning and cooking. Except now you often can't get a meal at a hotel and cleaning doesn't happen, this isn't so much of a benefit. So might as well stay somewhere you can eat when you want (even if you do have to cook first).

The hotel advertised having a lift but failed to say that the half the first floor rooms are accessed up three steps with no alternative access for the mobility impaired. When we said this was difficult for my mother as she uses a rollator and asked for a different room we were told firstly that we were wrong and there was disabled access; they then conceded that there was no disabled access over the steps and told me it was our fault for not specifying ‘no steps ‘ on our booking even though there is no mention of this on their website. They refused to offer another room as they were fully booked: we were also told we should have arrived much earlier( we were there by 1630 for a 1600 advertised check in time) as rooms are allocated on a first come first serve basis. I booked our room 6 months ago. This was a less than impressive start to our stay. Our room was spacious and the beds comfortable but the room was extremely hot and airless. I asked for a fan and was told we already had one in the room- I said we did not have a fan and we would appreciate one. The staff member brought us up a fan, and checked the room first conceding that indeed we did not have a fan.
The cleaning staff we met around the hotel were very helpful in getting our luggage and my mother up and down those stairs.

The hotel is well placed for the station and we appreciated being able to leave our luggage there after checking out. We used the Brewers Fayre deliver to room option for an evening meal which was fast efficient and the food hot and good.
Breakfast was very disappointing with no fruit salad or berries option on either day and toast my only gluten free option for the continental breakfast. I had low expectations knowing fruit and toast would probably be my only dietary options but I had expected that items on the menu would actually be available which was not the case. My request for an orange from the proffered choice of apple/banana/orange was accepted and then the server came back with ‘we just sold the last orange, sorry’.

Visited for two nights to do the Jacobite Steam Train. Excellent location a couple of minutes walk from the station and 5 minutes from the main shopping street which has several restaurants and cafes. Morrisons supermarket just across the road would do a cheaper breakfast than the adjoining Brewers fare. The booking in process was simple and quick. The room was tidy and bed comfortable. Apart from a couple of cobwebs above the bed and a long black hair on the toilet floor everything was fine. The room was however too hot for us with the internal temperature gauge showing 23/24C for the whole weekend. The single window was open throughout but didn’t cool things down despite being only around 9 or 10C during the night. Staff provided an electric fan for the second night which helped a bit as long as you’ve got earplugs with you.

I have to congratulate PI on their accessible rooms and general approach to ensuring everyone can enjoy their facilities. Room was good - well set up for wheel chair access in terms of space and a safe and well organised bathroom with access shower and drop down bars around the toilet. Nothing too much trouble for reception only challenge was getting to the room which is a way from reception and accessed via a ramp that doesn’t have automatic doors. Receptionist came and opened doors which was great not sure how I would manage on my own. Location is very central. We didn’t venture further than the brewers faire attached to the hotel - good standard fare and felt very Covid aware. Enjoyable stay bit pricey for PI but presumably because demand is high this time of year. Great stay

The communication from the hotel after booking was brilliant keeping us informed every step of the way about the current covid situation. The hotel is situated just a few minutes walk from the train station and upon arrival the room was spotlessly clean and all staff encountered were friendly and helpful. Next door is a Brewers Fayre and I cannot recommend this enough. The food was excellent and once again all staff were extremely friendly and very helpful. A fantastic weekend was had riding the Jacobite and the scenery in this part of the world is simply stunning. Perfect.

The dinner I paid for wasn't available and the hostess in the restaurant encouraged us to cancel as the wait was 1 hour and they weren't doing deserts. I cancelled the breakfast too because that put me off. If someone is paying for dinner as part of the hotel stay, surely they should have priority. There wasn't anything when booking that said one would have to also book the restaurant separately for dinner and breakfast.
The receptionist only gave us one key when we responded that we would like two keys (he was training, it wasn't a big deal). The room was covered in dust, it was not vacuumed, there were sticky marks on the mirror and the vanity unit (which the short-staffed hotel head housekeeper came and wiped down and gave us a handful of extra coffees which was appreciated), and as noted, the room wasn't replenished properly with coffee and the booked twin room only came with one bath towel (I agreed to dry myself down with two hand towels). As others have said, the room was a toasty 22.5°c.
My lost property was not found. I left (not intentionally) a Philips Sonicare toothbrush (that cost more than the room), toothpaste and antiperspirant. It appears that the housekeeper that got told off for not cleaning the room properly, saw fit that I should never see my lost property again.

I am being very gracious in not marking this as terrible because the staff who dealt with my concerns were (to my face) pretty decent. However, I will not be staying here and advise others to book somewhere else, unless you want complete disappointment and your stay to be a nightmare.

Hi Fraser, Thank you for your review. We’re very sorry to hear the team weren't able to accommodate you at dinner and that you chose to cancel your meals. Emails are being sent out prior to stays encouraging our guests to pre-book a table so as to avoid disappointment, as our restaurants do have limited availability. We're also sorry to see the room wasn't up to our usual standards and that you found it to be too hot for your stay, this certainly isn't the experience we would expect for you. We’ve ensured this feedback has been logged to the Hotel Management team so that they can look into these issues with the team to prevent this experience from being repeated again in the future. Regarding your lost property, if you haven't already, you can get in touch with us via Twitter/Facebook or via the feedback form on the Contact Us page of our Premier Inn website and we'll be able to have the hotel double check this for you. Thank you for taking the time to contact us and we hope we can welcome you for a more enjoyable stay in the future. Kind regards, Amy

Been to Fort William a few times before but this was our first time at the Premier Inn. They have social distancing and Covid19 cleanliness down to a fine art and we felt very safe. If you have mobility issues please let them know when you book as some rooms are quite a distance from the reception area. Our room was spotless with a few little differences from usual stays. If you like an extra pillow or more tea/ coffee reception will supply these for you as housekeeping won't come to your room during your stay. We were very grateful for the floor fan as our room got very warm. The staff are lovely and very helpful.
We would certainly recommend this hotel.

We booked a twin room, this consisted of one very large comfortable bed and one very small very uncomfortable bed so not really my idea of a twin.
The rooms for your entire stay are not being cleaned due to "covid" I mean at least make it make sense. You have to go and queue at reception if you want clean towels or toilet paper, this is all very well until you are dying for the loo and realise you've run out of paper and then have to wait 20 minutes at the reception just to ask for loo roll. Maybe put loo roll outside peoples room or have it available for customers to just pick up would be a better option.
Now onto breakfast, they ran out of baked stuff fast and didn't replenish them, for 2 days there was only one croissant left. I am vegetarian and asked for a vegetarian sausage, what came was a raw disgusting excuse for a sausage needless to say I didn't eat it see picture 🤢

Stayed for 3 nights in a twin room on first floor. My mum had the double bed which she found very comfortable and I had the sofa bed. The sofa bed was very firm which suited me just fine and I slept well every night. We found the room (located about halfway along the very long corridor) to be very quiet with no outdoor noise and no real noise from other rooms. Rooms not cleaned due to COVID but reception very accommodating when needing more tea/coffee/milk and simply left the bin outside the door and staff emptied it no problem! The bathroom was a bit tired with a curtain as opposed to a screen and the ceiling needed a good paint but the shower was hot and powerful and did the job.
As far as we could tell the rooms seemed clean enough except maybe the less obvious areas like on top of the fire alarm light etc but wasn’t the end of the world.

We felt the stay was let down by the brewers fayre where we had to book a table in advance for breakfast or evening meal if required despite it being half empty most of the time!

The staff were friendly and attentive and we didn’t have to wait long for the food but the evening menu did seem limited compared to the brewers fayre of old and the food was pretty average to be honest.

Breakfast was buffet style and the food was plentiful and tasty enough just not very warm even when we had breakfast at 6.30am on the last day! The plates were cold every day which probably didn’t help!

The hotel is well placed and overall we’d stay there again, just a bit overpriced for what it is and would maybe venture elsewhere for meals next time.
