This hotel is very cheap and the accommodation reflects the price, the rooms are quite old and a bit smelly, the shower and toilet facilities are adequate but don’t expect anything too good. There is some noise from the high street but this drops off at about 1am. Good for one night but no more than that.

We spent a night here with our two dogs and couldn't have felt more welcome. Yes, the decor is dowdy; yes, the light fittings (and the shower) date from 1975, yes, there's a whiff of damp in places (and a refurb going on - or not), but with our carryout wine and a fantastic fish supper from Macari's across the street, we had a great night's sleep and a lovely chat with each of the staff we encountered. And everything works. Dog friendly, lift takes a wheelchair (just), and Comic Sans throughout. Location in Fort William could not be more central - you could walk the West Highland Way and flop straight down . I daresay we had the benefit of it being quiet - a noisy high street/fellow guests might make it less comfortable, but the lounge has huge old leather sofas just asking for crowds of happy hikers.

Room Tip: On the High Street side you're going to get pub customer noise - though Covid must curtail this.

Stayed for 1 night after walking Ben Nevis. I have spent 15+ years staying and living in basic military accommodation so am no spoilt princess, however the general levels of cleanliness and hygiene were very poor. The building was bedraggled and outdated, inside and out. In our twin room there were dead flies on the window sill, debris on the floor (hadn't been hoovered), stains on the pillow and scummy residue in the bath. It honestly looked liked the room hadn't been cleaned for a long time. I used my own sleeping bag and pillow rather than the bedding provided because of the stains. Very limited parking, poor show of breakfast in the morning (cereal and drinks only), a bad customer service experience with nighttime staff, and substandard facilities in general mean I would not stay again, and could not recommend in good faith. In the interest of balance, the central location is convenient and the WIFI worked, however there are few other positives I can offer. Not at all value for money, at £80 for a twin room, hence the 2/5.

Hotel accommodation is basic, but very clean, centrally located and the staff are very friendly and helpful. Fully recommend if your going to climb Ben Nevis. We went as a group of 16 and sat in the bar till late most nights

Fort William has a shortage of budget accommodation in summer particularly for visitors staying just 1 night at the weekend. With this in mind this Hotel was the best option that I could find, and my expectations were not overly high. The hotel, our room, the beds and bathroom were all very dated, and it looked like not a lot has changed there since the 1970s! However there were tea / coffee facilities in the room, and cereals are provided fee of charge for breakfast. Also I found the woman at reception whom I presume to be the owner to be very friendly and helpful and provided us with lots of tips for local sightseeing and activities. So all in all whilst certainly not a boutique hotel, it was functional, did the business and is located on a good (though slightly noisy, particularly on weekend nights) location on the High Street.
