We were just passing through here really and stopped over for the night. I had a room on the inside of the hotel - it was quiet and I slept great. My room was really clean with everything you could need. All the staff were really nice and hospitable too - reception, bar, restaurants - really great service. I liked...

Everything was clean and the staff were pleasant, so for that the price was fine. Way more money is spent on the common areas than the bedrooms. Our room was right under a creaky, noisy walkway, the internet went in and out (not good for those of us determined to watch a movie even after 30 attempts), and the bed...

I was dreading arriving at this hotel after reading the reviews, but luckily for us we had booked a deluxe double room. This room was incredibly spacious, king bed with crisp white bedding, ironing board, iron, hairdryer, toiletries, water, dressing gowns and slippers. The room was clean, and was cleaned every day whilst we were there. Breakfast consisted of croissants,...

I must say when reading some of the reviews of this hotel (the negative ones) I'm staggered. My family (wife and 2 grown up children) stayed 4 nights over Christmas this last week. We loved it. The rooms were quite small though. And so therefore storage space was limited. In a twin room I'd like to see a bedside table...

Looking at the reviews it seems a bit of a mixed bag. The room we had had been renovated and a lot of the money obviously spent on the bathroom. Like most hotels people are moving around at all hours. So its not fair to penalise anyone for that, plus you're on holiday so you will have a few late...

Having read the review of the guest who had a dead spider in her kettle, we absolutely knew what we were getting into, but between Christmas and New Year on a last minute trip, there weren't many options... First off, the lobby area looks decently modern so I had higher hopes than expected on entering, but when we reached Room...

Looks smart, with a recently renovated lobby and bar but it's spoilt by uncomfortable beds, paper thin walls and a cheaply made breakfast. Our 'loch view' was a bit of a stretch. It's a glimpse of water across the (too small) car park, almost hidden by the extension to the original building and an ugly gas tank. There are better...

Every thing was good except that I got a room with a broken window & a kettle with a dead spider in it. Thank God I looked in otherwise it would have been a horrible cup of tea. What a disaster on Christmas day.

Have been to Fort William few times in the past and stayed at hotel along the road which was a bit dated, i was very surprised from the minute i walked through the door of the Cruachan, very posh, classy, modern & relaxing hotel with stunning views across the loch and mountains, the staff are very professional and hard working and...

Myself, my partner and our 3 year old came to stay for one night but extended for another because we were blown away by the standard of service from some of the staff here! We run a three room inn on the Isle of Mull and generally find fault in service received around our area because the "can't do" attitude...

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
The Cruachan is designed with a traditional Scottish Highland façade and whilst the hotel has been, continues to be, sympathetically upgraded and modernised internally to provide all modern comforts, it has not lost its original character. The hotel has an enviable location overlooking Loch Linnhe and beyond the loch to the Morvern Hills. Guests can sit on the terrace outside the hotel in the summer, watching the boats on the loch and enjoying a quiet drink. ... more   less
