Disappointing - well overpriced for a 3 night stay at over £530, very tired abs needs updating, threadbare carpets, poor menu choices for dinner and breakfast, we ate on two nights, paper cups in room for hospitality tray. Only advantage was close to the train station for the Jacobite ride which was the main reason for our visit. Don’t know why there was a price hike for the few days we were there. Small bathroom but shower was good. Wouldn’t stay there again, felt ripped off for the poor quality. Limited breakfast menu, the only choice of yoghurt was strawberry, I asked for plain which they didn’t have (am allergic to strawberries), no fruit. Tended to have a poached egg on toast.

Hotel's Favourite
I stayed recently for a few days at the Alexandra in a superior double. The room was very nice, bed comfortable, an excellent shower in a most acceptable bathroom, flatscreen tv, a selection of chairs and tea & coffee making facilities with rather nice shortbread replenished daily as required. The ladies at reception were very pleasant and helpful and the bar and restaurant staff very friendly and efficient. Dinner in the restaurant was pretty good, but the Scottish breakfast was smashing. A nice place, reasonably priced and I'd stay again without any qualms on any future visit.

The tiredness of the place could have been overlooked had the cleanliness been in order, we had several basic areas of cleanliness overlooked in our room. The room was small and very hot, there was no ventilation in the bathroom so showering for 2 people made the small space unbearable and windows were restricted due to close proximity of other rooms. We were booked in for 2 nights but only stayed for 1, we chose travelodge for our 2nd night as we knew the comfort and cleanliness wouldn’t be an issue, the price certainly didn’t reflect the stay in comparison with what you would get with a budget chain. On a positive note the food at dinner and breakfast was good and the waiting staff very friendly and helpful.

I have never been in a Hotel where all the carpets are threadbare. The toilet seat was loose and on our last day the complete set of curtains fell off the wall. We asked at the desk for some Earl Grey teabags for the morning were told they didn't have any, asked a girl at the bar and she found some and gave us proper teacups.
