I went for afternoon tea which I had booked in advance. Having been asked for any likes and dislikes I pointed out that I did not like sweet tasting food - which ruled out cakes and normally makes afternoon tea a bit of a challenge. I was stunned to find when I arrived that the chef had made a special completely savoury afternoon tea for me. And what a variety - I even had a special menu printed for me which I have attached to this post. The staff were brilliant and pointed out some historical parts of the hotel including a special door which opened onto the former exterior wall of the original building which was destroyed by Government forces after Culloden. Bonnie Prince Charlie used the place as his base just before Culloden and some of the hangings from his bed were displayed in the hall. There is a lovely walled garden which is open for guests to enjoy. Leena and Kyle were so welcoming and obviously loved the hotel enhancing the experience further. I only went for afternoon tea but intend to return to stay and enjoy dinner here!!…
We stayed here with friends for one night in October 2020 It was during the alcohol sales restrictions so we had drinks in our room before and after dinner The rooms were fabulous, some of the best we have ever stayed in. The grounds and walled garden in particular make for a very pleasant walk The evening meal and breakfast were exceptional, the best we have ever had in a hotel. Staff could not have been more helpful. We hope to go back when rules make it easier to enjoy yourselves
I would definitely stay here again. This is a beautiful property with friendly/ helpful staff. The food is great too and the chef is happy to fulfil special requests ( most amazing haggis, tatties and neeps). The rooms are well appointed and spotless with very comfortable beds. Be warned though, there is no lift so if you are on the top floor there are quite a few steps!! There are plenty of things to see/do nearby- Culloden battle field being one of the closest. A car is a must though. Overall a great stay...despite the Covid restrictions.
Our 3rd visit to this beautiful hotel. This was a champagne lunch given as a birthday gift from colleagues and was a wonderful experience. From the warm welcome from the lady on reception on arrival to the excellent shortbread with coffee everything was first class. The two gentlemen looking after us were very friendly, helpful and efficient. The food was excellent and our request for a different potato dish was readily supplied without fuss. Great care was taken to ensure guests and staff were well protected during the current covid conditions. We look forward to returning.
A group of us stayed at Culloden House over the bank holiday weekend. The hotel rooms were immaculate and very clean, with all the amenities you would expect as well as comfortable beds and both bath and shower. The breakfast each morning was fantastic, a huge selection all freshly cooked with the kitchen staff making sure every request was met! (We had some fussy ones in the group!) The staff were however the highlight; each of them let their personalities shine with their own mannerisms and stories, they were engaging, accommodating and very attentive. I intend to visit the highlands again, and I would not hesitate to stay again. Thank you!
