The toilet seat was dirty in our room. This is of course not good at any time but during Covid-19, it is totally unacceptable. I cleaned it with some alcohol wipes which I carry with me due to Covid-19. Because of the dirty toilet seat, I then worried about whether the rest of the bathroom was cleaned properly and proceeded to wipe down the taps, basin, etc. We also found what looked like a piece of dog or cat food on the carpet in our bedroom which suggests that the room was not cleaned very thoroughly. I know this is not a 5 star hotel but hygiene should be one of those things which should be done well regardless. It was also quite a noisy hotel as I could hear doors slamming during the night and early morning despite wearing earplugs. The only positive were the staff which were very friendly.

Response from Duty Manager, Owner at Holiday Inn Express Inverness

Dear Anna, I was dismayed to read your review from your recent stay with us. Obviously, the standard of the room in terms of cleanliness was way below what we would deem acceptable and at this moment, I can only apologise to you for this. Our Housekeeping team are extremely hard working and conscientious and I know they are very disappointed to have let their usually very high standards slip on this occasion. We have looked at what went wrong that day and have put in place further measures to ensure our IHG clean promise is upheld for all our guests. If you find yourself in Inverness again requiring accommodation, please do not hesitate to contact me personally here at the hotel as I would very much like to rectify the negative impression you received and show you that we can do so much better. Rory Campbell, Team Leader.

Really good hotel for stop over. Covid restrictions were well enforced and the hotel was very clean. Breakfast was adequate and the hotel is very good value for money. helpful staff at check in. I didnt eat at hotel due to limited menu due to restrictions, but were allowed to bring in take away to the rooms

Located near out of town shopping area just outside Inverness. Room was what you would expect from a Holiday Inn Express . Booked in advance and got for a good price. Restaurant in hotel not open in evening due to Covid restrictions. Went to restaurant next door which was fully booked. At breakfast hotel advised that they were so busy they could not socially distance and they would only be doing take away breakfast. Not ideal but difficult times make for reduced service

Check-in was perfunctory and our room was traditional HI. Whilst the hotel had all the right Covid signage and sanitisers, lots of guests chose not to observe these basic hygiene measures, particularly wearing masks and the hotel team did not enforce the rules once while I was there. Unsettling. The buffet breakfast was well executed, with guests told to pick up a bag and fill it with their breakfast items, which were individually wrapped, to eat in their room. Both hot and cold chow was available. Every team member we spoke to was friendly and helpful. The price we paid was very reasonable. A good value stay.

Dear Machinmad, I appreciate you for sharing your review about your recent stay. I am very sorry that our hotel did not seem to enforce guests to social distance and wearing masks while in the hotel. Please be assured that I have noted and forwarded your comments for the management to improve. In the midst of the inconvenience, I am glad to know that our breakfast was still appreciated. I very much hope that you will grant us the opportunity to prove ourselves again. Best Regards, Ben W. Case Manager IHGService

Stayed for 3 nights for my birthday, hotel centrally located to Inverness city centre. Brilliant shopping area 5 minute walk away, lots of takeaway food options especially with COVID you can take back to room or sit in lobby area. Rooms are your standard 3* hotel room, our room didn’t look like it had been dusted in a while and also had booked for 2 adults and 1 child yet they said they only knew about 2 adults. Confirmation clearly said 2 adults and a child. Had to go out room to let them make up sofa bed. Breakfast was okay...two out of three nights the seating area was closed. It really didn’t suit us with a fussy toddler, not even an option to have a slice of toast which was disappointing. The same every morning cereal, crossaints, Luke warm rolls for takeout and coffee machine out of use for two out of three days. Would stay again because of location but needs improvement.

Hi emsw90, Thank you for choosing to stay with us and for posting a candid review. I was very concerned to read your comments regarding the room cleanliness, housekeeping service, and breakfast experience. I understand your dismay and I am sorry. This is not the frictionless experience that we wanted for all our guests. I will make sure to share your comments with our team for the necessary improvements needed on our end. I appreciate you as our guest and I still hope you would give us another chance in the future. Orlando A. Case Manager IHGService
