I'm not sure what to say other than that this place is just wonderful. OK, it's a little crafty, but then this is an authentic castle perched on a cliff adjacent to the North Sea. The bedrooms and public rooms are cosy and comfortable and the service friendly and welcoming. Dinner appeared a little 'warmed up', but breakfast was delicious

Ackergill Tower was the final stop on our 5 day NC500 trip and we are so happy we chose to stay here on our last day. When we arrived our luggage was taken to our room and we were given a quick tour of the main guest areas before being shown our room. The room was wonderful so cosy and...

For some reason, I totally forgot to review this at the time, but we stayed here for one night in August 2016 at the beginning of our North Coast 500 tour with Performance Portfolio. We couldn't believe our eyes as we drove up the drive - what a place!! The grounds, surrounding area and the Tower itself, simply stunning. We...

My husband booked this amazing hotel for my birthday last weekend. It was awesome. We stayed in the Reiss room which had a four poster bed and was beautifully furnished. All the public rooms were full of history and guests could use any of them. The staff were very attentive but not intrusive and were all very pleasant. We had dinner and breakfast...

From arrival to departure, it was all amazing. I have no words that will do this "all encompassing" destination justice. The staff are top notch, as is the whole experience. And it is truly "an experience". Several common rooms, (TV, library, snooker) to allow for a feeling of a private & authentic Castle feel, full of history and beauty. Food...

Staggering beauty and exquisite attention to detail abounds! From the moment you start heading down the drive, the anticipation is building and it really does feel like a Christmas Present that you simply cant wait to unwrap! If you have grand perceived ideas of what a Scottish Castle should be like, prepare to be blown away! If you have high...

The venue is outstanding - a wonderful historical castle restored to its formal glory. The public rooms are furnished to a very high standard and are great to relax in. We booked one of the executive rooms. At that price point I expected a bigger room, possibly with a seating area. To be fair, I now see the website lets...

My husband and I stayed here for 2 nights. The castle itself dates back to the 16th century and it simply oozes history. Perched right on the edge of the North sea, it stands defiantly looking out to a seascape as if to say 'I'm not going anywhere'. Our room was spacious and clean, the bed was firm and the...

One of my best hotel nights ever! Arrived to this fantastic Tower a dark, windy and rainy evening in November. What an amazing building!! The staff at this place are outstanding the best I've ever met during all my stays at different hotels. Two lovely young ladies that supplied with excellent service in the dining room and tasteful food from...

Whilst traveling through Scotland, a friend and I booked a night spontaneously in Wick. We were DELIGHTED to see that Ackergill was indeed a castle on the sea. The interior and grounds are delightful, and the staff saw to our every need.
