We stayed at The Ackergill Tower during our January road trip round the north coast - as you can see from the attached images we were blessed with the most amazing weathers. Besides the lure of this incredible location we were encouraged to stay based in no small part by the Trip Advisor responses of the then general manager, Marcell,...

We had booked this hotel as part of our North Coast 500 tour and, due to unforeseen circumstances, arrived a day early. The staff could not have been more accommodating and without exception every staff member was a delight. The hotel itself is so interesting - lots of interesting rooms - very comfortable and cosy. The room itself was wonderful...

A stay at Ackergill Tower is very different from your normal hotel stay. The main Tower building is a truly impressive bit of medieval architecture, and the owners through the ages have done a decent job in preserving it. Inside, it oozes character and atmosphere and, we were told, it's also home to one or two ghosts! Like other reviewers...

Wonderfully restored ancient castle in a stunning position a few feet from the sea, feels like staying in a country house, with gracious public rooms. We had one of the very top floor rooms (a lot of stairs) which have access to the parapet which is stunning on a starry night. Food in the great hall was fine dining quality...

Gorgeous hotel and it really is 5*. Rooms are beautiful and the bed was very comfortable (had the best night's sleep in ages). Staff could not be more helpful and you really are made to feel it is home. The views from the hotel are wonderful - it is right on the sea. If you are feeling brave, go up...

We booked this online to stay after visiting John o'Groats. It was fantastic. Received a tour of the building when we arrived before being shown to our room. We were told to make ourselves at home. We could use the billiards room or read any of the books in any of the rooms. We had dinner in the dinning hall...
