We booked room 1 a family room which had a double and single bed with a beautiful look out over the garden. Would never have thought we were in the city. Very quiet. Even though by reception on the ground floor it was quiet all night long. Hospitality tray with tea, coffee, hot chocolate and biscuits. Nice shower room. Breakfast...

The location - if you don't mind climbing the steps from Great Western Road - is great for the West End, and the room was large and clean and well furnished in a kind of mock-Edwardian style. This after the first floor room requested and confirmed by email (too many stairs to the upper floor - failed to materialise but...

We love historic hotels so we're very pleased with The Hotel Alfred. The location was great - near the university and lots of shops, restaurants and pubs. The hotel was quite charming and the staff were wonderful - courteous, friendly and very helpful. We couldn't have asked for more. The breakfast was very good as well.

Room was lovely apart from finding an opened condom packet in bedside drawer. No replacement mugs for tea on second day, so had to clean myself. Room didn't appear to be cleaned at same standard during the 5 days. Can be noisey at night due to busy road. Basic breakfast. Staff change a lot so you rarely see the same...

Dear Dawn, I am sorry to hear that the housekeeping was not up to our normal standard during your stay. I have spoken to our housekeeping team to ensure this does not happen again. Whether you have just arrived or have been staying with us for a few days this should not affect the standards in which we operate. Thank...

Great rooms, spotlessly clean and well appointed, The Alfred is a perfect spot to stay in the west end. Great Western Road & Byres Road have such fabulous bars, restaurants and some truly amazing shops and just 10 minutes into the city centre on the subway. The staff were friendly and welcoming and we loved the deco decor. I only...

Stayed here with my girlfriend with a voucher deal I got online. The room was huge, it had everything we needed in it and I really liked the quirky style of the building as a whole. As there aren't loads of rooms I found the hotel nice and quiet. A continental breakfast was included which I thought was reasonable considering...

Stayed at the Alfred on Saturday 1st April. It's a beautiful hotel in excellent location. The service first class. We stayed in one of the attic rooms which was exceptionally clean and lovely decorated. The hotel had some beautiful , quirky pieces of furniture. The breakfast was served in a lovely dining room, with plenty of choice . Excellent value.

You have to be fit to stay here as it is on a hill. The hotel was nice as were the staff. I enjoyed my stay and the continental breakfast was good for the price. Would stay again. I liked the way it was like stepping back in time and it is so close to the west end shops it...

We stayed for three nights in this interesting hotel. Various young members of staff were on hand at different times to provide assistance. Room 7 on the second floor was very comfortable, the only criticism being the absence of secondary glazing which meant that the noise of the traffic on the main road was quite noisy at times. The continental...
