After a manic three days at the Edinburgh Fringe, we arrived at The Merchant City Inn at 10pm on a Saturday night to relative peace and quiet. After walking through the rocking streets of Glasgow, we found our fabulous top floor retreat space both comfortable and stylishly presented. There is excellent wifi and the owners were very helpful in pointing...

Good basic accommodation, friendly enough, clean comfortable beds. But seriously the bathroom smelt of pee, the floor hadn't been cleaned properly (very dirty in the corners)and there was mould in the shower that could have easily been cleaned off. Cooked breakfast not worth the money if you only want eggs, staff hover about getting in people's way while they're trying...

Easy to find when coming from queen street train station, and staff very helpful. Requested early check in but couldn't due steam cleaning room. Room was very clean and nice. Not noisy considering there's a night club outside. Breakfast was excellent.

Given the location and the interesting historic building, this hotel could rate better, My room was clean, but in need of an update,Although I am not disabled, I always keep an eye for these issues in my reviews. The very narrow doors and lack of a lift would make this place impossible for a disabled person to stay here. The...

I arrived in the afternoon and enquired about the reservation at the hotel desk. The receptionist couldn't find the booking at first yet after looking he then charged me the price quoted on your site of £105.00 and insisted we pay a 3.5% surcharge as we were using a credit card to pay for the room. Total. £108.50. We then...

After spending many weekends here years ago, I was looking forward to making new memories. Under new ownership, but still great value. clean comfy rooms, quirky architecture and FAB cooked breakfast.. Really central location and the car parking deal £6:50 a day, means that the dizzying climbs to the rooms is worthwhile.

Lovely people. This building is 300 years old with a spiral staircase and my daughter and i had a lovely stay. The hotel is in a great location for shopping. Ingram street at one end and connects to buchannan street and 5 minute walk to georges square and queen station. Trip to edinburgh only 11 pound return. Bus return to...

A very average hotel but in a central location. Our room (third floor with no lift!) was small and dark. I suppose the old adage 'you get what you pay for' would apply to this establishment as the room rate was reasonable.

Never normally write reviews but after reading some of the other reviews about the Merchant City which thankfully I ignored I thought I would give my thoughts on the place. Stayed here twice now both times during the upgrade that's happening. First time stayed on a weekday with my teenage daughter and had room that hadnt been done yet, bit...
