This is a small, simple yet smart quirky hotel above Glasgow’s central train station. It is packed with thoughtful amenities including a relatively spacious sitting room, with a few shelves of books to share!, and a dining room serving both breakfast and dinner. Although the room was small it had plenty of storage space.
It was wonderful to get off of the train and walk to our hotel in less than 5 minutes. Up above the city, we had a nice view of the train station from up above, which felt private and secluded. The extra tasty treats that the chef had prepared were wonderful, particularly the ice cream. The cost is reasonable, the location is unbeatable, and I would highly recommend staying here.
I returned to the hotel after a 3 year gap. Staff were amazing as always and I was really well looked after. The little touches such as cake and smarties were very welcome. Supper was also lovely. A true home away from home.
This hotel is somewhere I'd highly recommend and we'll most definitely be revisiting. Completely spotless throughout with decent sized rooms (people staying more than a few nights may prefer something a little larger),the beds are super comfy, and linen is of high quality. Location cannot be beaten for those wanted wanting to explore the city, do take advantage of the discounted parking if driving (see website for details). Lovely touches included free baked goods (cakes, sausage rolls), ice ream, and in room French press and kettle for tea and coffee. Breakfast offers both cooked options, and cerals/fruit and yoghurt. The biggest plus point is the staff - all we met were incredibly friendly and helpful, a real credit to the hotel.
Booked this online via the hotel direct. Two night city break. Quite hard to find first off as it is literally a door between two shops. The rest of the building seems to be admin offices for British Rail. Lift upto the 6th floor wondering what on earth I'd booked. The hotel is the whole of the 6th floor, one corridor with rooms either side. What at first seemed might be a bit dodgy turned out to be delightful. Friendly staff, modern, super clean rooms and lots of attention to detail. Our room had still and sparkling water to choose from and, shock horror, a plug next to the bed to charge your phone! Just off reception there was a selection of home made cakes and ice cream all free of charge. I think the real bonus was the room was super dark and quiet. Amazing for a city centre hotel and this hotel is very central indeed. Lovely breakfast and I deal with the local multi story car park. Glasgow? I wouldn't stay anywhere else. Well done The Grasshopper Hotel…
