Great location, a minutes walk from Queen Street station. Perfect for shopping and going to restaurants/bars. Very friendly staff, could easily store baggage before check in & after check out. Complimentary mini bar & drinks in room were fab, access to the lounge was perfect too.
Excellent staff, service and value for money. Will definitely be back, recommend it for a wee city break gives you a nice feel good feeling that sets you up for whatever you have planned. Made my Xmas shopping a lot more enjoyable.
We had a club executive room , which included entrance to club lounge . This was great for us. A place to relax . The only thing I would recommend is a list of what snacks , etc... are available here . We didn't have a clue what to do . There was no information. The staff here are very friendly . Is Glasgow the friendliest place in Scotland ? It certainly seemed like it . Room was great , really comfy . Breakfast was good . It is in such a good position for sightseeing as well . Great bonus is taxi rank opposite hotel !
Definitely one of the nicer hotels on Glasgow. Staff are friendly and helpful, hotel is clean and well decorated and the food and overall service are fab. Bonus of a mini bar in the room! The hotel is an ideal local for transport hubs, city centre attractions and shopping.
Great hotel, stayed here for a business trip and would highly recommend it. The rooms are great, a bit dated in certain areas, but his adds to the character. Check in was great, although there was a bit of a queue so maybe self-check in would be good. Front desk was really helpful and friendly. Location is fantastic being next to one of the train stations and right in the centre. Would highly recommend this hotel both for business and leisure. Oh yeah and the free mini-bar is a fantastic little touch.
We spent three nights here and chose it based on its location, the reviews and the offer of an executive lounge and complimentary room amenities. The reality of this hotel disappoints your expectations. The rooms are quite dark and dated, as are the bathrooms. We chose a room with access to the executive lounge which also included complimentary drinks and snacks in the room. This includes decanters of vodka, gin and whiskey, barely a quarter full and by the looks of it, rarely touched as there was a considerable about of dust on them. In the mini fridge were two bottle of Budweiser and an airplane sized bottle of red and white wine. This was not really important as we were keen to relax in the lounge after dinner. The lounge is as dated as the rooms and the lack of cleanliness was appalling. On our first night there were tables piled high with used glasses, snack dishes and empty bottles on the bar. There were even cans on the floor. The lounge has two seatings and it appeared as though no attendant had visited between these to clean up and freshen the supplies. The ‘clean’ glasses were smudged and when I picked up a coffee cup, it was filthy. So was a second, and third! This caused us to wonder about the cleanliness of the entire hotel! I did receive an email on our first night asking how things were going and I rated the lounge quite poorly. I will acknowledge the staff, as shortly after I submitted this someone checked the lounge and it was tidied about an hour later. For the remainder of our stay things improved but a lasting impression had been made. While the location of this hotel likely has bearing on the price per night, I’m afraid little else does.…
The Carlton George Hotel is in a great location. The train station is one block away; the shopping center with a pedestrian walkway is just meters away; and the Glasgow Symphony Orchestra is a few blocks away. The best feature to the hotel is the front desk staff. They were helpful, happy to answer all of our questions, and very friendly. We were there from a Monday to a Friday and met several of them during the various shifts. Each was great. The restaurant, Windows, has fantastic views. Make a dinner reservation in advance because they book up quickly. We had breakfast there on three mornings and they offered cooked-to-order options in addition to a buffet. The room was of average size and appointments. The staff kept the room clean and in good order. The only down side was the view from our room. We were located in a room with a view of the courtyard. If we had know, we would have asked for a room in the front.…
We had to cancel due to covid lockdowns. They gave us 6 months to use our credit when Australia was in lockdown for 2 years. Unreasonable given our inability to leave Australia and use our credit. Every other hotel we had booked refunded our money.
We thoroughly enjoyed our three-day stay at the very centrally located Carlton George. Staff were friendly, accommodating, and helpful from check-in to check-out — professional in every way. We enjoyed a delightful start to every day with a delicious breakfast in the rooftop restaurant. Jackie was our server each day, and she brightened up the morning with her consistent positive, can-do attitude, but, honestly, that was the attitude of all the staff at the Carlton George. Our room was very comfortable, cozy, clean, and delightfully equipped with complimentary tea, coffee, sparkling water, and alcoholic beverages. We would most certainly return given the opportunity.
Absolutely fabulous gem of a hotel perfectly situated in the heart of Glasgow City Centre. First of all the staff were all fantastic from front desk to restaurant. So nice and very helpful. I always stay in the big chain hotels but this wee hotel beats them all! Absolutely furious we had only booked for one night! Most of the furnishings are classically beautiful and beds very comfy. The little “extras” in the rooms were wonderful. (If you know…you know!) The bathrooms need an update and the view left a lot to be desired but these are paltry moans compared to the whole experience. We will be back very soon🤩
