The Crowne Plaza Glasgow, an IHG Hotel, offers travelers a dynamic experience with its bustling atmosphere and prime location near the Hydro, OVO, and city center, complete with scenic river views. While some guests commend the hotel for its clean, modern rooms and efficient housekeeping, others point to dated accommodations in need of an update. Although the hotel's cleanliness generally receives high marks, opinions on value and amenities are mixed, with complaints of overpriced features and inconsistent quality. The service is often highlighted as friendly and attentive, though it can become overwhelmed during busy periods.

I booked this hotel as I got a really good deal and glad I did. It was my partners birthday and they asked his name, we found out why on arrival. We had been sent an email prior to staying to see if we wanted to upgrade to a larger room and the VIP lounge. It was an offer I couldn't refuse made the birthday even better.
Staff were amazing on arrival and we had also been upgraded again with another room.
The room was huge and the view was amazing. My partner received a hand written card and some chocolates. (Lovely surprise).
We had access to the VIP lounge with soft drinks hot drinks fruit and snacks. Then at 5pm there is wine and lager and warm and cold food. All was lovely, we also had a mining bat in our room which was part of the upgrade.
We didn't use the spa facilities ( we will next time)
The bed is huge and so comfortable.
Robes and slippers to add.
Slept well, we had booked a late check out and did put a do not disturb on the door but did get a knock at around 11.30. ( we did advise reception on leaving) It didn't spoil our stay. Room was a bit dusty a better check over would be good.
The choice for breakfast was amazing with hot and cold options, continental and all you could eat. It was all delicious. No complaints at all with the food.
We will be back again and enjoy the spa facilities. A memorable stay.

We took advantage of a luxury Dinner Bed & Breakfast rate at this hotel offered through the 5pm website.

After parking the car we used the covered corridor taking us straight into the hotel lobby area. Check-in was quick, dining and breakfast arrangements explained clearly, and our temperatures were taken.

As part of the deal we had a room on the 14th floor with the adjoining room set up with a dining table & chairs plus 2 armchairs and a TV. 2 members of staff came to serve our 3 course meal, both wearing masks and gloves. Service and food were great in a nice setting to celebrate our wedding anniversary.

Our bedroom was spacious, the bed was comfortable (It said King size on the paperwork but I think it was a superking) Toiletries in bathroom were nice, slippers and bathroom were supplied for our stay too. Curtains kept the daylight out well too.

After a good night's sleep we went to the ground floor for breakfast. Machines were available to get hot drinks, whilst a chef served any hot options (some items have to be requested, such as poached eggs) Other food and drinks were self-service. Not too bad on the quiet day we had, but cant see how it works on busier days as people just walked about, no one way system in order. Food was nice however and plenty to choose from.

The hotel is located 20 - 30 mins walk along the river from the centre of the city. There's a few attractions nearby, such as the Riverside Museum, Tall boat, and Science Centre, but not many restaurants or bars.

We stayed here for 3 nights when we went to TRNSMT in the city, overall the stay was okay. Rooms were big and clean but one issue was that we were told they weren’t going to be able to clean the room for our stay due to covid issues and we could help ourselves to toilet paper, coffee, towels, etc from the store room. We understood this and appreciated being told in advance but what I found annoying is the room rates include house keeping and we weren’t offered anything in leu of this, like a bar voucher, would have been nice to have been offered something to sweeten that part of the deal. After 3 days the room was a mess with the bins overflowing, etc so we had to take bin liners off the cleaning trolley ourselves, felt kind of ridiculous for a hotel in all honesty. On check out I noted one customer complain about this and he was offered a bar voucher which he said he couldn’t use as he was leaving!!!

We got room service one night and the breakfast buffet was included each morning and overall the food was okay.

Parking was also fine - £7.50 per day, we sorted out the parking with the receptionist when we checked in and had no issues as I seen some others have said they got parking fines. We walked into town every day and it was only 20 minutes along the river so location is ideal if you like to walk or it was £5 one way in a taxi.

The hotel didn’t enforce people wearing their masks in the communal areas which I found off putting especially in lifts.

A one night business stay. First of all my grouch - Due to weather I needed to drop down from 2 rooms to 1, and the hotel showed no flexibility. I accept that this is due to the rate booked, but other hotels have shown more flexibility in the regard in the past.

On checking in I was given a room key to a room that was already occupied. Fortunately the occupant was not in a compromised condition, and a new room was found. I was given a voucher for a free drink as a result, as long as it was tea, coffee or a soft drink... Did not appeal in a busy evening bar!

Room Service were a little hard to get hold off. When they did deliver my food they had not included my drink as they were changing the barrel. Fair enough - but it took 45 minutes for the drink to arrive after that point. Cellar must be some distance.

Final point. It would be great when Room Service are doing late night delivery, that they did not knock really loudly on Room Doors and should "Room Service". The room a couple of doors down needed to hear the knock at 11:30PM. I did not!

Room was comfortable, warm and clean, and staff friendly and caring - apart from Room Service!

Dear David P, Thank you for taking the time to review your visit and I am sorry to read that a couple of issues marred your enjoyment on this occasion. It is extremely regrettable to read that you were checked into an occupied room - this is highly irregular and I'm pleased to know that a compensatory gesture was extended. Your comments in regards to Room Service are appreciated and I will be discussing these with our Food & Beverage Manager so that swift changes can be made. Should you choose to stay with us again in the future, please let me know so I can ensure you are personally looked after. Kind regards Jason Dombrower General Manager

We stayed at the Crowne Plaza this past Monday night for a show at the Hydro. We booked a twin room which was well equipped and a good size, with comfy single beds, and a nice size bathroom. We were on the first floor and still had a great view of the riverside. I would imagine the views higher up are very impressive of the city.

My only issues with the room was firstly the shower pressure, this was very poor compared to even budget hotels such as the Premier Inn and Travelodge, for a Crowne Plaza in a such an ideal location I do think this should be looked into. Also the TV in the room was very small and in need of an upgrade, maybe one mounted to the wall to make the room feel that bit more modern.

The hotel is in an ideal location for the Hydro and SECC, only around a 2-3 min walk which is perfect for after a gig, and a 25 min walk down the river to Central Station. The reception area, bar and restaurant are particular impressive looking and created a nice atmosphere in the lobby area.

We didn’t eat in the restaurant in the evening so can’t comment on the food but the breakfast in the morning was outstanding and well worth the money. The bar is well stocked although very pricey, the pints were more expensive than in the arena, but it was fine for a late drink after the show.

We used the leisure facilities at the hotel which are free to use including a gym , swimming pool, sauna, steam room and Jacuzzi. The pool is a good size and everything was nice and clean and in good working order, however the gym is a bit small and outdated, they could do with upgrading the running machines specifically which were very rattily.

There is a huge car park at the hotel with plenty of spaces, it is advertised on the website at £7.50 per night however the hotel staff said this was free to use, so I’m not sure if this has changed recently. I did phone the hotel yesterday to double check this as I didn’t want to get a parking fine, and they informed me that as long as the car is registered on the reception, the parking is overridden and free to use. I would just like to thank the reception team for reassuring me of this and they were incredibly helpful.

Overall I would definitely recommend this hotel if you are going to a show at the Hydro, and we will no doubt be back next time we have a night away in this area.

The Crowne Plaza Glasgow is situated next to the SECC about a mile from the City Centre. It's a relatively modern high-rise hotel on the banks of the Clyde. We stayed for 2 nights as part of a holiday in Scotland.

First of all, the good bits:

The staff were (generally) excellent. The reception staff (particularly Tomasz and Andrew) were polite, attentive and engaging, ensuring our check in and any requests were fulfilled seamlessly. The duty manager (Helen?) was also lovely and very pleasant.

The room (top floor) had breathtaking views over the Clyde and out towards the airport and the hills beyond. It was lovely to spend time looking out of the window and watching the world go by. The room was also spotless, and it was great to see that the door had a seal on it to show it had been sanitised. It was well up to the usual standard that I would expect from an IHG hotel room.

The points for improvement were some fairly lacklustre bar service on the first night. We had free drinks (as IHG members) but the barman was fairly disinterested. My partner's drink was overflowing copiously from the glass when it was plonked down. A shame, as we would have stayed for more drinks that night or the next.

Another issue was the breakfast. The entire breakfast area looked really tired and the carpet was dirty. It could do with a decent refresh of the entire atrium to bring it up to standard. The breakfast itself was OK, but not up to normal Crowne Plaza standards, although I accept this is likely due to COVID measures.

Finally, there was a real problem throughout the atrium with flies. This was an irritation at breakfast and at the bar. I mentioned this at checkout and was assured it was being addressed, so hopefully this will not be an issue for much longer.

I feel a little harsh for giving a 3 star review - this is a good hotel, but with a little bit of work it could be even better. I hope that this is taken in that spirit of constructive criticism.

We spent 2 nights at the hotel (using 19K IHG points per night, which was a fantastic rate).
The hotel is located apx. 3 kilometers west of the city center, which is only convenient if you have a car.
Parking was apx. 10USD per night.

We checked in at 6PM and our basic room was upgraded to a bigger room with a fantastic view of the river Clyde – room 914.
Our room was gigantic, modern, consisted of 2 wide beds, a TV, a minibar, a safe, an armchair with coffee table and a desk and chair.

The bathroom was nicely appointed with a tub (no separate shower), a toilet, a sink and very nice Essential Elements Bathe amenities.
The water pressure in the tub was wonderful.

We had 2 breakfasts and one dinner at the hotel’s Mariner restaurant. They were all very good (I’ve written a separate review about the restaurant).
Breakfast was not included in our points rate and was apx. 17USD per person.

Bottom line – this is very good Crowne Plaza, with a less-than-stellar location, but otherwise a very solid choice while in Glasgow.

Hotel is OK as long as you are expecting no more Ryman 3 stars. All areas need refurbished. Paint pealing, wallpaper coming off, old carpets. Rooms were too hot and air-con did not cool them down. Air-con also made a loud noise in both the rooms we booked.
We used our points from IHG and asked for adjoins rooms, we got a quick response and rooms were agreed. However when we got there they knew nothing of the rooms and asked us to forward the email the hotel had sent us. 5 hours later our second room was ready.
Breakfast is ok. Pool was nice but again starting to look a bit shabby. Nobody seemed to be asking people to ware masks and we ended up in an argument with someone who jumped in the lift with no mask. Based on other reviews we did not eat there.

For a free night it was just 3 stars but I would not pay much over £60 for a room and breakfast based on lower status IHG hotels which are cleaner and more organised.

We stayed here on a 5 pm deal where you have a high room with a great view, and private dinner in an attached room. This is a great idea, our room faced west and had marvellous views and Andrew and Ross served us dinner. The chef adapted the menu for me (gluten free) We had breakfast in the restaurant too. The hotel is well set up for distancing, and extra cleaning done everywhere. It felt very safe and the staff are working their socks off to make sure the guests are happy. Definitely recommend, and we are going to be back soon

We were originally booked in for two nights but stayed for four. The rooms were a good size and the bed was so comfortable. We had a lovely view. This hotel is centrally located. We didn’t go into Glasgow town itself but travelled to the sites of Loch Lomond, Troon beach, luss etc all within about a 40 min drive. Back to the hotel..... The staff were so accommodating and couldn’t do enough for you. This was all the staff, reception, bar staff, restaurant staff etc. The restaurant food had a smaller menu due to covid reasons but the food was good. There was sanitisers everywhere and they encouraged social distancing and masks. There are many hotels around this area of which we visited but found the Crowne plaza to be the most vibrant. This proved to be a great staycation. We will definitely visit again.
