I stayed at the Albany hotel with my two teenage children, one of whom was visiting the University of Saint Andrews. The location of the hotel is absolutely perfect. The rooms were clean comfortable, spacious and charming. The hotel staff was as friendly as could be. We enjoyed the breakfast. I would highly recommend the Albany Hotel!

We had a very comfortable and enjoyable stay here with modern amenities. Situated in the centre of town in walking distance to all the attractions and restaurants. The service was excellent and nothing was too much trouble. Breakfast was an enjoyable change with fresh made to order meals. Highly recommended!

lovely boutique hotel. Small and very comfortable rooms. The junior suite was bigger and led on to a patio. Good breakfast and nice small bar. Typical for St Andrews (smallish rooms), but the service made it. We left our chargers, and they contacted us and will send to us.

Terrific place. Room was huge (Garden Suite) and had it's own private garden. The hostess is charming and had a lovely cocktail hour every evening for guests to mix and mingle. The breakfast, which is included, was wonderful with lots of choices and generous portions. We were there for THE OPEN and had a fabulous time. The hotel is also...

We booked the hotel approx. 6 weeks ago. We were a little surprised that they had vacancies, due to the open being in St Andrews this week (and the reason for our visit). But we just must have been lucky as we had a great couple of days. We arrived at 9.45pm and received a very nice welcome. The room...

Was on a 2-night stopover at St. Andrews on the way back to London from the Scottish Highlands. Hotel was rather small with no elevator. The more convenient Garden Suite was not available then, which meant having to carry our 4 large pieces of luggage up 2 floors to the remaining available room on the top storey. As the room...

Recently had a great stay at the Albany to see our son graduate from the university. It is easy to walk to everything in town. Room was clean but not large. The staff was fantastic and really helped us out with a couple items. Breakfast was good every morning. Not a problem for us, but there is no elevator which...

We stayed at The Abany while visiting St. Andrews for our daughter's graduation ceremony. St. Andrews is a very small town so we had to book well in advance, but the Albany was one of the very few hotels who did not insist on a three night booking. On our arrival we were delighted to find a beautiful little traditional...

A great little hotel for a St. Andrews Golf vacation. Located conveniently, only 6 blocks to the old course, 4 blocks to the old cathedral ruins, and with many restaurants located within 4 blocks and walking distance. Located within the University of St. Andrews campus area. The rooms are clean and comfortable, but small and you may have to climb...

Its central, welcoming clean with decent sized rooms. We had pleasant and comfortable stay. There is a nice little lounge area where the fire and scotch will warm your bones after a day sightseeing or golfing. The breakfast is very average but satisfactory. The Bed's themselves are average, but overall its a good 3 star. Would come back.

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
We are a small, friendly, informal 3 star hotel. The first in St Andrews to be awarded the prestigious title 'Townhouse Hotel' by the Scottish Tourist Board. The quaint old building has a warm personality all of its own. You will love the craftsmanship of the many original features. Built from 1764, the hotel consists of two Georgian terraced houses, both exactly the same layout, built for two brothers by their father, Mr Thomas Low. With only 22 rooms (all en-suite), we are able to maintain very high standards in accommodation and service without losing our warm and caring attitude towards our guests. Special, great value seasonal, weekend and golf breaks are often available, so contact the hotel for details. The hotel will also be delighted to help arrange golf, sightseeing tours and visits to places of interest. We look forward to you spending some time with us at The Albany Hotel and getting a real flavour for everything St Andrews has to offer. ... more   less
