We had a room on top floor - quiet, immaculate, good use of space for us and our 12-year-old (who slept in twin bed under eaves). Lovely gas fire in the living room raised at night for warmth next to bar, friendly and attentive staff, lovely dining room by garden with generous and delicious breakfast. No complaints & very happy...

A small, very clean, nicely furnished hotel in a great location, on one of the main streets in St Andrews. Walking distance to everything, including the amazing St Andrews Castle and the small, beautiful beach next to it. The hotel has undergone a recent renovation and is very nicely decorated. Breakfast is served in a lovely space with a garden...

Had a perfect stay at this little gem of a hotel. Perfectly located for walking to restaurants, bars, and shops. Staff were welcoming & friendly. The room well appointed, clean & comfy and like the rest of the hotel was freshly decorated in a classic style and with what seemed like new carpets. The bathroom was clean and fixtures also...

The Albany hotel is well sited on North Street close to Cathedral an Castle and within easy walking distance of most of University campus. The hotel is a large townhouse over several floors. Receception and a small residents lounge make up the ground floor. I had a single room on the first floor which in comparison to most "chain" hotels...

Stayed here for a night for business given its central location. Staff were very helpful and friendly and couldn't fault the service. The rooms were clean if a little basic with dated decor. The bathroom was clean although the fixtures and fittings had noticeable wear and tear. The front living room sells drinks and snacks and is a great place...

Small quaint Georgian. As such the hotel is small. But where it lacks in space it exudes in charm. There is a little sitting room where Scotch may be savoured. And at the end of you day out, retiring into your small room is just fine. The beds are comfortable, the rooms well appointed and warm. The linens are quality...

Stayed here in the summer for 1 night with my boyfriend who booked it as a surprise. The Albany Hotel caused me to fall in love with Boutique hotels. Fabulous staff, very friendly. Great location - good for food venues, cinema complex, shopping & sightseeing. I would recommend this hotel to any sort of traveller looking for somewhere to stay...

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
We are a small, friendly, informal 3 star hotel. The first in St Andrews to be awarded the prestigious title 'Townhouse Hotel' by the Scottish Tourist Board. The quaint old building has a warm personality all of its own. You will love the craftsmanship of the many original features. Built from 1764, the hotel consists of two Georgian terraced houses, both exactly the same layout, built for two brothers by their father, Mr Thomas Low. With only 22 rooms (all en-suite), we are able to maintain very high standards in accommodation and service without losing our warm and caring attitude towards our guests. Special, great value seasonal, weekend and golf breaks are often available, so contact the hotel for details. The hotel will also be delighted to help arrange golf, sightseeing tours and visits to places of interest. We look forward to you spending some time with us at The Albany Hotel and getting a real flavour for everything St Andrews has to offer. ... more   less
