I stayed at this hotel because I came for a conference at the university. The hotel was really central, and it was great for an overnight stay. It was also really clean, the staff were friendly, and the room was comfortable. I would definitely stay here again and I would recommend it!

Three is a difficult number - do you take 2 rooms or look for a family room? 3 adults though not 2 plus a child !... So I expected a pull out bed with poor mattress (Stansted Holiday Inn !) but we were shown to a beautiful suite. A huge Extra king sized double and a separate room with a...

Really enjoyed my stay at The Albany this weekend. The staff were wonderfully helpful, particularly Ellen and Paula on Reception. The room was good with tea and coffee making facilities, the ensuite clean and with a good shower. The lighting in the room could have been better, maybe more powerful light bulbs. Fantastic breakfast. Will definitely return!

This is a great place to stay in St Andrews with a wonderful location at the east end of North Street. The hotel is across the road from the Younger Hall and very close to St Salvator's Chapel. We stayed in the 'Bunker' room which is a twin bedded room on the ground floor with excellent ensuite facilities. Breakfast was...

We (4 adults+1 baby) stayed in the garden suite which is a nice spacious room with sofa and coffee table and of course the nice little private garden. Hotel provided us with a baby cot so we don't have to bring our own. The staff are friendly and efficient , they replaced the dirty kettle in the room with a...

Nothing to complain about - right in the centre of town and an easy walk to pretty much anywhere, reasonable price, friendly staff and a decent breakfast. If I was to be picky the room was not huge nor was the bed, but it was fine for a couple of nights stay.

Only stayed for 1 night but very happy. Centrally located, easy to find. Only 10 minutes walk from the bus station. Comfortable room, well sized as a twin room and friendly staff. Nice range of breakfast options, and quick service.

Welcoming and kindhearted hotel staff, charming and comfortable room, delicious breakfast, and located in the heart of Saint Andrews---what's not to love? I wholeheartedly recommend The Albany and will happily stay there next time I visit.

Great location in St Andrews, the staff was nice enough, breakfast was okay and the junior suite has a lovely balcony. I found however the hotel being dated, the shower pressure pathetic - an old electric Mira shower with extremely low pressure -, carpet and wall paper needing a refresh and no noise insulation. On paper it looked like a...

Thank you for taking the time to post a review of your recent stay with us. I have noted your comments and will certainly look into the pressure in the shower. We have a rolling maintenance and refurbishment plan here at the hotel and do try to keep the character of the building which is just over 250 years old....

Very friendly, clean and accommodating. Close to the centre and as a golf trip stop over was ideal. Although the weather was sub zero with a bit of snow and horrible east wind the rooms were more than comfortable and lovely and warm to come back to.

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
We are a small, friendly, informal 3 star hotel. The first in St Andrews to be awarded the prestigious title 'Townhouse Hotel' by the Scottish Tourist Board. The quaint old building has a warm personality all of its own. You will love the craftsmanship of the many original features. Built from 1764, the hotel consists of two Georgian terraced houses, both exactly the same layout, built for two brothers by their father, Mr Thomas Low. With only 22 rooms (all en-suite), we are able to maintain very high standards in accommodation and service without losing our warm and caring attitude towards our guests. Special, great value seasonal, weekend and golf breaks are often available, so contact the hotel for details. The hotel will also be delighted to help arrange golf, sightseeing tours and visits to places of interest. We look forward to you spending some time with us at The Albany Hotel and getting a real flavour for everything St Andrews has to offer. ... more   less
