Great location. Room was clean, quiet and comfortable. We ate in the restaurant for both dinner and breakfast and the food was good quality for the price charged. The buffet breakfast set us up for the day. Staff were all friendly and welcoming and made us feel at ease. The hotel is within easy walking distance of Holyrood and the Royal Mile and also bus and railway stations. We would happily stay here again.

Very good location as just a 5 minute walk to Princes Street and 10 minutes to the Royal Mile. Also if you are coming from the airport the tram stop is directly opposite the hotel so a really good central location for exploring the city. A single tram ticket to and from the airport is £6.50 so very good value and the journey takes 30 minutes.
The hotel have worked really hard to ensure all staff and guests adhere to social distancing. Their are sanitising stations in the reception area and face masks must be worn at all times.
You have to book a time slot for breakfast and order individually rather than the usual Premier Inn buffet breakfast. Also currently the restaurant is only open for breakfast, so you can't have lunch or dinner there. Also you cannot sit in the bar area, but you can purchase drinks and have these up in your room.
Overall an enjoyable stay and a really good central location for a city break.

This is the second time we’ve stayed here and it was just as good as it was last time. Great location for walking to nearby sights and restaurants, and the York Place tram stop is right on its doorstep. Room was really clean and a good size, there was no room service due to Covid measures but you could request anything you wanted such as towels and tea/coffee etc. Breakfast was table service rather than buffet and you had to book a time slot (again due to Covid measures) but it was still eat as much as you like and the food was great (you could still make your own toast and get hot drinks from the machine). Note; the restaurant was only open at breakfast and not in the evening. All the staff were really friendly and helpful. Overall, I can’t recommend it enough, such good value for money! We parked our car in the nearby OMNI Q Park and got our ticket validated upon check-out at the hotel reception. It was £60 for 5 days instead of the £110 it would have been, so well worth doing.

I visited Edinburgh at this time fully aware that most visitor attractions, bars & restaurants would be closed. I badly needed a break away from my work to benefit my mental health. A quiet time in Edinburgh city seemed ideal. Thankfully, this proved to be the case.
This Premier Inn was open , so I stayed here between 3 - 5 November.
The hotel has all the necessary safety measures in place for guests. The staff have been well trained to implement them too. This was reassuring for me, especially when breakfast was being served. Well done to Ivan & Monica.
My room on the third floor had all the unnecessary things removed to help when servicing the room. The large bed with a thick mattress provided me a good nights sleep. The bathroom was clean & tidy. All the hard & soft surfaces, table tops & carpets, had been well cleaned. The heating controls were easy to use to warm or cool the room when necessary.
This was my third visit to this hotel. On my previous visits the hotel was full of guests, this time it was mostly empty. This created a rather surreal atmosphere when walking around the public areas. However the staff were always so friendly & welcoming to me.
This hotel is a credit to the Premier Inn brand - I would certainly recommend it.
My sincere thanks to Nicola who "runs the place" from her office at the bottom of Canongate, for permitting me to stay !

Stayed for four nights in August we were allocated a room on the 2nd floor (219) it was very quiet at the end of the corridor so would recommend if you want to sleep well and aren’t bothered about a view as our room overlooked the back of the cathedral. The rooms to the back of the hotel have better views and overlook the town n leith (see pics). The breakfast was good and the staff all very helpful. With the current covid situation our room wasn’t cleaned in four days but I was fine about that, anything we needed you just had to ask. There are lots of things in place to try keep everyone safe (sanitisers, signs, face masks to be worn when walking around, one way system in restaurant etc) but not all people think it applies to them which in my opinion is plain ignorance, the hotel and staff do the best they can. The hotel is in an ideal location to explore Edinburgh and for the price we paid was very good and we enjoyed our stay.

Decided to treat myself and my friend for an over night stay and was greeted by a pleasant gent at the reception whom was very welcoming and cheerful. There was hand sanitizer at the entrance and all staff I had seen were wearing masks.
Due to the new gov restrictions, we were offered room service for evening meals. For all we didn't use it, it is a great service to be offered.
Our room was on the 4th floor which had a lovely view of the city. The room itself was clean and nice to stay in.
My friend and I requested more pillows as well as coffee sachets/milk and once again the gent at reception was more than happy to help. Amazing hotel and staff. Thank you for such a great visit.

Stayed here for one night with my son and partner on an overnight trip to Edinburgh.
Easy to access from the airport via tram (£6.50 each one way) and took about 30 minutes (and tram station is opposite the hotel).
Check in was quick and easy, and we were located in a family room on the first floor. It was clean and spacious, and perfect for us and our 3 year old.
Everything is in walking distance, and we visited he zoo via bus which too was easily accessible.
Breakfast was great too - usual premier inn breakfast and unlimited too.
Wouldn’t hesitate to stay here again on another trip to Edinburgh!

You know what you’re getting when you book at a premier inn but this one had that little bit extra. Great staff and a nice bar/ dining room layout made it welcoming. The breakfast was freshly cooked grease free served by very cheerful chatty staff. A great stay

We stayed at this Premier Inn from the 5th to the 10th of August, on arrival at the hotel we were greeted really professionaly by the reception, check in was smooth and quick, the young man explained the Covid restrictions being adopted by the Hotel, the car parking arrangements etc.
The car park was local to the hotel, this was at the Omni just a 5 minute walk away, £12 for 24 hours, with a discount ticket from the hotel.
Our rooms when we reached them on the 4th floor were large well appointed rooms, spotlessly clean, with tea, coffee, water etc supplied (we were staying in standard extra rooms), the views from our rooms (our daughters) was amazing, the view was above Edinburgh across to Leith, looking over the firth of fourth, our room looked out over York Place, which wasn't too bad.
The breakfast offering was very good (considering the Covid restrictions in place) the staff were attentive and really accommodating, we were served at the table apart from our last morning where the continental breakfast was served as a buffet, again very good. There was a Scots Gentleman who greeted us every morning (Sorry I never got his name, I think he was a Manager), he made you feel very welcome and made us feel at home, exceptional service. We only ate once in the evening at the hotel, however again the food was well cooked, well presented and tasty.
As I previously stated the Hotel and rooms were spotlessly clean, all I can say is that this Premier Inn was run exceptionally well, with what I perceived as a very happy group of staff, this makes a huge difference to the hotel clients, and certainly made our 5 day stay in Edinburgh that much more special, I congratulate the management and staff, they were extremely good.
We will be returning to the Premier Inn York Place next time we're in Edinburgh, I would not hesitate to recommend this hotel to anyone, 5 star well deserved.

I've stayed in many Premier Inns over the years (and other, similar hotels). This one was, hands down, the best. The family room was enormous, and had plenty space for 2 adults and 2 children to relax comfortable, and even afforded a little privacy for the teenagers. Staff were friendly, check in/out was quick and we could leave our bags safely until our room was ready. Breakfast was plentiful and staff were attentive in clearing away used dishes. The location is perfect - less than a 5 minute walk to The Playhouse, tram stop outside and a 5 minute walk to Princes Street. You could not ask for better.
