Big tip: get the front bedroom, as it's lovely, with a fabulous cornice, and twice the size of the other one. The location is very quiet, but within easy walking distance of the city centre. Mike and Ann are very welcoming hosts. I really admire them for their hard work, both looking after their guests and their lovely house.

It was our first stay at a B&B and immediately the best one ever! Mike and Ann are so lovely, they helped where they could, Mike drove us for our return flight to the train station. Moreover we got a lovely real Scottish breakfast! If I will (and I guess I do so) ever spend a night in Edingburgh I... More

Our stay was absolutely wonderful! Mike and Ann were the best hosts and are a great example of friendly Scottish hospitality. My mother and I had never been to Europe before this trip and staying at Tantallon was a fabulous welcome to Scotland. Before we even arrived, Mike and Ann were easy to talk to via email, answered all of... More

From the freshly made fruit salad with papaya and mango to the artisan bread, the breakfast at Tantallon Place is the best I have ever experienced in a bed and breakfast or hotel. A cosy, comfortable home with attentive hosts in a beautiful setting.

We stayed with Ann and Mike in May 2015 and could not fault the quality of our welcome and accommodation! The house is beautiful, elegantly furnished, with original art and flowers in the rooms. The weather was cool but the bedroom was toasty warm and the lights were switched on to welcome us each evening. The breakfasts were superb with... More

A beautiful town house. Our room had a view over the greenery of the back garden. The whole house is very stylishly decorated, with art and carefully considered colours. It's not fancy, just elegant. Anne and Mike made us very welcome, and accommodated our bicycles in their garage. We woke up to birdsong from the garden. The breakfasts were superb:... More

I recently returned from nearly 2 weeks at Tantallon. It was a delightful place to relax and rest up for touring Edinburgh, which I mostly did on foot. The B&B is just a 10-15 minute walk from the center of the city and also from Holyrood Park, a wonderful maze of paths that include ascents to Arthur's Seat. I also... More

We have just returned from a 3-night stay at Tantallon Place for my birthday in February. The break was booked as a surprise by my husband although I had spotted the B&B featured a few years ago in the Guardian Travel supplement. What a lovely place and superb hosts. Mike picked us up from the train station so we had... More

Spent two nights here in August 2014, Mike and Ann were fabulous hosts and really knowledgable in everything that they spoke about. They opened up there home and made us feel like family. Breakfast was lovely and the fruit to start was a delight, not to mention the homemade jams/marmalades. If I had a slight negative, it would be. Please... More

We have just spent 6 nights at this wonderful B. & B. What a great find. We were able to leave our car in the drive as it was only a leisurely 10 minute walk to the city centre which is a great bonus. Our hosts Mike and Ann could not have done more for us and were always on... More
