We spent the last 2 nights of our trip to Scotland at the Averon Guest House, which was an excellent way to end our wonderful holiday. This is a Georgian house beautifully restored and decorated. The (2) rooms we had were spacious, full of character and the beds very comfortable. The staff were very, very friendly and helpful and the...

What a great find. We were coming into Edinburgh with a car and needed an accommodation with parking. Edinburgh is a beautiful city but driving around in the center can be a challenge and parking is hard to come by ... and expensive. Averon Guest House has its own lot, offers free parking, and a great location for walking to...

Very friendly staff, the location was good, pretty close to walking to the city centre, A lot of places to eat nearby. The room we stayed was a family room, very spacious, clean and tidy. Free Wifi. Very good value for the price, Breakfast was good and plentiful. Would definitely recommend to anyone visiting Edinburgh.

We drove to Edinburgh which made it a problem for parking and Averon Guest House had a free secure parking. Yet it was near enough to walk to Edinburgh Castle or Grass market for dinner. We welcomed by a Polish guy in kilt. Very friendly and very helpful. Recommended all the nice places that we should go and made sure...

The Averon Hotel was excellent value, with friendly, helpful staff. The room was clean and the bed comfortable. The free parking was areal bonus and one of the main reasons we booked this hotel, but we were surprised by the quality, considering the price.

We had picked this place as it had free secure parking on site and was within walking distance of the major sightseeing sites within Edinburgh. A full hot breakfast is included in the price which was served to you. They also had cereals, juice & fruit available. Room included free Wi-Fi access which was a real bonus. The guest house...

we spend two nights in Averon B&B. We were welcome by nice guy in kilt. Room was not ready which was not a problem, the buy in kilt suggested to us a cup of coffe to warm up before exploring. We were suprised by the warm welcome. The guy in kilt gave us a map and he recommended the place...

I found the Averon Guest House through trip advisory and was very happy with the choice. The staff were very friendly and very helpful. Parking was great, right out our door. Room was nice and clean. Bathroom a little awkward but to be expected in old houses. Nice and close to main area of the city. Would stay here again...

Averon guest house was great value, especially for Edinburgh. We were able to check in and park the car securely a lot earlier than most guest houses / hotels and a short walk took us into the heart of Edinburgh. Staff were very friendly and helpful. Bed was comfortable and a very hearty breakfast was served up to us by...

Staying in West End

Neighbourhood Profile
West End
Prevailing winds meant that most cities that grew in industrial Britain had their most desirable neighbourhoods to the west – upwind of factory fumes. Edinburgh was no exception, with its wealthiest citizens settling in its West End and leaving behind grand Georgian townhouses, private gardens and genteel crescents. These backstreets remain as dignified and sleepy as ever, and most of the action here lies along the district’s busy main roads. Lothian Road connects to southern Edinburgh and harbors a vague entertainment district: three theatres and the city’s main indie cinema. All attract a select crowd, the sort who appreciate the Saturday Edinburgh’s Farmers’ Market around the corner. The West End’s other great thoroughfare, Shandwick Place, is dominated by trams trundling out to the suburbs and airport, and shoppers picking up last-minute items before hopping aboard.
