Lovely clean room, great location, very friendly staff and a great breakfast. Parking available on site and only a few minutes walk to good restaurants. Look out for the kilts and Alan's singing and multimedia show of Scotland.

Everything was nice again, its always fine to know a place where it's good to stay when we come to Edinburgh. No problem to go by foot to the towncenter and its always a pleasure to hear some music and to learn a 'bit about scottish history in the evening. Certainly not the last time ! Thank you.

Bed and breakfast. A freindly place which is in a great location with free parking. Rooms are comfortable but are in need of a revamp. Creaky flooring and soft furnishings a bit of a mishmash. Television is small.....size of a laptop and the digital signal strength is weak. Free WiFi is a bonus. Breakfast could easily be be better. Staff...

It was the first time we stayed at a B & B, and we are simply charms. What hospitality, super helpful. I'd stay here talking for hours. I will certainly be back in Edinburgh more often and I already have the option to sleep. Super comfy and friendly. We already want to return here.

In several times a week Mr. Cran played wonderful his guitar, sang scottish songs, and showed us a power point presentation from Scotland and the highlands. We visited this event on one evening. It was very informative and cozy. Also, Free wi-fi, and a delicious breakfast. Approx. about...

Nice, clean and neat. Free wi-fi. Supplementary breakfast. There was parking space but, didn't need it. Great location. Town centre hardly 5 min walk. Booked a tour leaving early morning, reached there easily on foot. Would stay out till late at night, no problem. Excellent host.

Booked the guest house after reading the reviews on trip advisor . Was very disappointed , although the stay wasn't unpleasant , the accommodation was dated and of a poor standard . Breakfast was adequate but within an hour and half service from 8 -9:30 .

Averon Guest house has it all. From the beautiful exterior to the exquisite interior. The only hard time I had during my stay was to work out how much tasty breakfast I could squeeze in to my belly before heading off to a days adventure discovering all of what Edinburgh has to offer, and all reached so easily by foot...

Staying in West End

Neighbourhood Profile
West End
Prevailing winds meant that most cities that grew in industrial Britain had their most desirable neighbourhoods to the west – upwind of factory fumes. Edinburgh was no exception, with its wealthiest citizens settling in its West End and leaving behind grand Georgian townhouses, private gardens and genteel crescents. These backstreets remain as dignified and sleepy as ever, and most of the action here lies along the district’s busy main roads. Lothian Road connects to southern Edinburgh and harbors a vague entertainment district: three theatres and the city’s main indie cinema. All attract a select crowd, the sort who appreciate the Saturday Edinburgh’s Farmers’ Market around the corner. The West End’s other great thoroughfare, Shandwick Place, is dominated by trams trundling out to the suburbs and airport, and shoppers picking up last-minute items before hopping aboard.
