This hotel is outstanding. The upgraded rooms are brilliant, and I had a great nights sleep. Booked due to proximity of the Usher Hall, however, would recommend to any tourist visiting Edinburgh due to Grassmarket, castle, Princes Street all being within easy walking distance. Don't hesitate, just book. I wish I was back there this weekend!

Booked this as I had a ticket for the Usher Hall, got a good deal and was very pleased with the hotel. The location was perfect, the hotel was lovely (recently refurbished) and as an insomniac with an arthritic knee, I had the best night's sleep for months on the amazing bed. The staff were so lovely, and the breakfast...

A huge thank you to Stuart, head chef and the rest of the friendly hardworking team that were there today. At very short notice Stuart & his team prepared a buffet for our family & friends after a Christening near by. The restaurant venue was excellent for our party of 20 plus 5 kids. The buffet sandwiches were fresh &...

22 of us stayed at Premier Inn in Lauriston Place - excellent service - all staff were friendly and helpful - check in took minutes as all ready for us, no hanging around. They knew we were celebrating a birthday and took the time to find the name of the birthday girl and put a happy birthday banner and bottle...

We arrived a little bit early but had no problem checking in, which was done efficiently by very good staff. The room was of a good size for the two of us. The bed was comfortable and the room lovely and warm. We opted for the dinner and breakfast package for £23.99 which was excellent value for money and delicious!...

Staying in Old Town

Neighbourhood Profile
Old Town
Few Edinburghers live in the Old Town, but its labyrinth of dank alleys and steep streets suggests this was not always the case. Today, it’s mostly visitors, tartan-flavoured souvenir shops, and pipers that you’ll find on its cobbled streets. This is the place to get a feel for Auld Reekie (Old Smelly), as the town was once nicknamed, and stroll the Royal Mile, the thoroughfare that links the castle with the royal palace – two of Edinburgh’s great set-piece attractions. But there’s lots more exploring to do here down dozens of little alleys, or wynds, while at night the city’s busiest clubs erupt along the Cowgate which is closed to traffic for this purpose.
