Second visit, stayed in the main building on first floor, with a separate kitchen and bathroom this time, but still very, very nice, overlooking gardens at the rear, and Rothesay Place to the front. Modern clean and very comfortable, with genuine friendly staff on hand for anything you need, huge comfy bed with plenty storage space, with flat screen tv,...

Another brilliant stay, booked again for Christmas with whole family. Fantastic hospitality from all staff. No other choice if your going to Edinburgh and to cut costs, we stayed in one night and got a takeaway which the staff recommended which was amazing

This has to be one of the nicest places we have stayed throughout all of our travels. Edinburgh was our first stop in Scotland (coming from FL). The apartment was modern yet not stuffy. Elegant, clean, and comfortable. I loved looking out at the little garden in the back. The staff was as polite and helpful as could be. Location...

I would highly recommend this hotel. We had a beautiful and very spacious apartment with a private garden. I absolutely loved the décor. On Saturday nights they have free cocktails and canapés in the lounge which was a nice surprise. The staff couldn't have been more helpful.

Lying in my bed at the chester residence drinking my coffee and chomping on a my breakfast. This place is well worth a visit and deserves its no1 slot. The staff bend over backwards to assist you and nothing is to much trouble. Best place ever to chill out.

From the moment we arrived the staff could not be more helpful, they were all immaculately turned out especially the young man in the kilt! The apartment was modern, spacious and spotless with all the amenities for a short or long stay. The residents lounge was small and cosy and though there is no restraint the staff were quick to...

I have just spent a weekend at The Chester Residence and it was more than I hoped for. From the staff, the location and the room, everything was amazing. There was nothing I could fault. My only disappointment was that I was only staying one night. I have travelled all over the world and The Chester Residence is on the...

Wonderful short break at the Chester Residence, which exceeded our (high)expectations. Staff were polite, helpful, efficient and above all friendly. Our 1 bed roomed apartment was much more spacious than we expected and came with luxurious touches, like Molton Brown toiletries and Nespresso coffee machine which added a little extra something to our stay. The apartment was welcomingly warm when...

Bought a stay in The Owners Residence for my wife's 30th surprise present. When she walked in she was pretty much speechless. She thought I was joking! Everything was superb! From giant spa/jacuzzi bath with tv to the private cinema room to a shower head that's so big it feels like you are standing under a warm rain cloud! We...

Staying in West End

Neighbourhood Profile
West End
Prevailing winds meant that most cities that grew in industrial Britain had their most desirable neighbourhoods to the west – upwind of factory fumes. Edinburgh was no exception, with its wealthiest citizens settling in its West End and leaving behind grand Georgian townhouses, private gardens and genteel crescents. These backstreets remain as dignified and sleepy as ever, and most of the action here lies along the district’s busy main roads. Lothian Road connects to southern Edinburgh and harbors a vague entertainment district: three theatres and the city’s main indie cinema. All attract a select crowd, the sort who appreciate the Saturday Edinburgh’s Farmers’ Market around the corner. The West End’s other great thoroughfare, Shandwick Place, is dominated by trams trundling out to the suburbs and airport, and shoppers picking up last-minute items before hopping aboard.
