I booked a room for Hogmanay 2016/17 as a surprise Christmas present for my wife. We were due to stay 30th December to 2nd January. It was all confirmed with booking.com and with the hotel themselves. At 17:17 on 29th December I was sent an email from booking.com telling me the booking could not be honoured. I had flights booked...

Good evening, We can understand your disappointment. This was an exceptional circumstance out of our control. We informed all our guests effected by the closure of one of our townhouses over Hogmanay immediately. Alternative accommodation was arranged for you in the city. We do hope that you enjoyed your New Year in Edinburgh. Best Regards, Siobhan Docherty.

Myself and my partner stayed at the Chester Residence for 1 night on Thursday 22nd December 2016 in the Owners' Residence after spending the 3 nights previous at Destiny Scotland - St Andrew's Square Apartments, we thought we would treat ourselves to a bit of luxury since the Chester Residence is ranked as the number 1 place to stay in...

Dear Alice F, Thank you for taking the time to write such a detailed review of your recent experience at The Chester Residence. Lovely to read your praise for our hard working team. I very much appreciate your feedback on maintenance issues that need to be addressed. Information from our guests who have 'lived in' the apartments is invaluable to...

Perfectly located within easy walking distance of the main attractions of Edinburgh, in a very quiet little row of gracious Edinburgh terrace houses, this is an ideal home-from-home. The apartment was spacious, comfortable and well equipped. We cooked a simple meal in the kitchen and it had all we needed, including an oven and a microwave (the latter looking confusingly...

Good morning Mandi B, Thank you for taking the time to share your recent stay at The Chester Residence with fellow travellers. Glad to hear what a great stay you had! Sorry about the problems you experienced with your towel. That is definitely not the high standard for housekeeping that we usually have. I am grateful for the feedback and...

As others have said, Chester Residence apartments are such home-like sanctuaries, you'd rather stay in than go on the town for the night! Such a dilemma! Because Edinburgh itself is special and great to explore. Especially at Christmas. What can I say that has not been said? Well, we loved that the bathroom floor was heated, a treat for bare...

I love the Chester Residence. This is one of the best hotels I've stayed in Europe. It does not feel like a hotel as it is more of a luxury furnished apartment. We were upgraded to a 2 bedroom apartment with 2 full bathrooms, spacious kitchen and a cozy living room. The apartment is beautifully furnished and we feel very...

Dear California_US_Keoki, Thank you for your wonderful review, we truly are blown away by your kind words. At the moment, we have our sister hotel, The Chester Hotel located up in Aberdeen. This is the third time I have stayed at the Chester Residence. The team are lovely; really friendly and helpful. Well worth the treat, we visited for our tenth anniversary and the hype around the owners apartment was well deserved. The apartment was fantastic and we enjoyed a great night of jacuzzis and cinema. Staff recommended excellent places for both takeaway and breakfast and bar a couple of niggle were friendly and responsive. Ideally located for a romantic weekend away.

Stayed for one night, lovely top floor apartment. Comfortable bed, lovely bathroom fully fitted and functioning kitchen/sitting room. Set in a very quiet location but relatively easy to walk into central Edinburgh. Not many pubs or restaurants in the immediate vicinity which means it is really residential and quiet. But lots of restaurants and café's within a 10 to 15...

This is the best apartment that we had ever stayed. The rooms were huge and nicely decorated. The hotel manager, Sabrina, gave us a very detail introduction of the city and the various attractions. We enjoyed our trip very much and will definitely return to Chester Residence the next time we are in Edinburgh.

We arrived in Edinburgh early in the morning, having flown overnight, and we called The Residence to see if perhaps we could check in early and catch a few winks before setting out to explore Edinburgh and were happily surprised at how agreeable the staff was to our request. Staying in West End

Neighbourhood Profile
West End
Prevailing winds meant that most cities that grew in industrial Britain had their most desirable neighbourhoods to the west – upwind of factory fumes. Edinburgh was no exception, with its wealthiest citizens settling in its West End and leaving behind grand Georgian townhouses, private gardens and genteel crescents. These backstreets remain as dignified and sleepy as ever, and most of the action here lies along the district’s busy main roads. Lothian Road connects to southern Edinburgh and harbors a vague entertainment district: three theatres and the city’s main indie cinema. All attract a select crowd, the sort who appreciate the Saturday Edinburgh’s Farmers’ Market around the corner. The West End’s other great thoroughfare, Shandwick Place, is dominated by trams trundling out to the suburbs and airport, and shoppers picking up last-minute items before hopping aboard.
