Novotel is always a good deal and that was also the case in Edinburgh. It was clean, fresh and good service. The kids really liked the pool in the basement. We would recommend this hotel every day of the week

I have stayed in this hotel numerous times over the last two year with work (upwards of 15 times) and I have to say it is one of the best business hotels I have stayed in. The staff are very friendly and very helpful. The facilities are very good. The rooms are clean and spaceous. The room service is quick...

Novotel's Edinburgh Centre Hotel has a fairly standard hotel atmosphere, but you cannot beat its location, a block and half walk to Brougham Street in one direction and a block walk to a view of Edinburgh castle in the other, and a nice little neighborhood of its own with cafes, restaurants, etc. The Novotel's breakfast will set you up for...

the room in this hotel was good - clean and comfortable. The location is relatively good but I would like to have been closer to the centre. The food was very average. Room service was not very good at all.

My husband and myself stayed here in May 2015 for three nights. From the minute we walked through the from door we were very impressed. The staff were so helpful and check in was quick. The room itself was very good and had everything we needed. There is a swimming pool, sauna, steam room, jacuzzi and gym at this hotel,...

The location of the hotel is great, with the castle and other touristy places within walking distance. Lot of eating options within a 10 minute walk. The room was spacious and done up well. The team at the reception was helpful at all times. The breakfast spread was good and so was the quality of food. Would definitely want to...

The hotel offered basic amenities including a clean room and a pool. However the balcony with one of our rooms was the highlight of the hotel. The balcony offered a panoramic view of Scotlands castles and was absolutely breathtaking. Do opt for the rooms with the balconies which offer a sitting area, so you can sip on wine while you...

The Novotel was an absolutely great location. An easy walk to Edinburgh Castle and the high end of the Royal Mile it doesn't get much easier. Park the car and forget about it until it's time to go.The staff were friendly and helpful while being made up of a mini United nations. Nothing was a problem for them. The room...

Very nice, clean, perfectly located hotel. Stayed 3 nights and the castle, old city, Grassmarket, were all within walking distance. Hop on hop off bus stop down the street about 100 meters. Breakfast each morning was hot and plentiful with a good selection. Friendly courteous staff. Ask for a room with a view of the castle.

We stayed here on our first trip to Edinburgh and found it decent enough. it's in a good location, being just around the corner from the Grassmarket area, and close to Edinburgh castle and the Royal Mile. Staying in Old Town

Neighbourhood Profile
Old Town
Few Edinburghers live in the Old Town, but its labyrinth of dank alleys and steep streets suggests this was not always the case. Today, it’s mostly visitors, tartan-flavoured souvenir shops, and pipers that you’ll find on its cobbled streets. This is the place to get a feel for Auld Reekie (Old Smelly), as the town was once nicknamed, and stroll the Royal Mile, the thoroughfare that links the castle with the royal palace – two of Edinburgh’s great set-piece attractions. But there’s lots more exploring to do here down dozens of little alleys, or wynds, while at night the city’s busiest clubs erupt along the Cowgate which is closed to traffic for this purpose.
