The town house is in a great location it's a short walk from Princes Street, rose Street and the castle. If you are going to the playhouse it's about a 10-15 minute walk. The town house is not luxury accommodation but it was clean and comfortable with friendly helpful staff. The only downside is the stairs the reception is 2...

The location is good, 15 minutes walk to Edinburgh Waverley Station and the Old Town. The room is nice, although the toilet doesn't work really well in my room. The host is really nice. They offer luggage storage after 10:30 Am on the check-in day.

It is with great pleasure that I can respond to your very untruthful review of our house. Firstly it was no problem to allow your friend (not staying here) to come and go as he pleased, drinking tea and using our free Wifi, but it was how we found your room that was the initial problem for our housekeeper. She...

Our room was big as we were given a triple bedroom, very clean, nice decor (kind of different as shown in the pics). The location is great, 3 minutes walk to Princes Street but the views of the castle are from the left side of the windows, not frontal. The only inconvenient are the 3 floors of stairs to reach the...

The Townhouse is perfectly located on a quiet street only minutes from Princes Street and an easy walk to the Old Town. Lots of restaurants nearby in the New Town and a pleasant walk through Stockbridge to the botanical gardens. Dean Village is also nearby - hope to walk there on our next visit. For fans of Ian Rankin, the...

Tod and Valerie welcomed us with warmth and great ideas regarding restaurants and visiting Edinburgh. The room was charming and comfortable, and the stairs offered practice for tackling the town at our doorstep. I would stay again.

Hosts were friendly, accomodating and knowledgeable. Stayed in a twin room with view of the Castle - absolutely perfect! Very clean! Room enough for two people and our luggage. Beds were very comfortable. Breakfast held at a buffet restaurant around the corner; food was fair but the venue was nice. Not sure I would include breakfast next time. As many...

My room was very small but it had every thing I needed and it wad clean. The lady at the front desk was very caring and helpful. The breakfast voucher was not necessary, as there are lots of cafés nearby.

Our room (7) was spacious, clean and nicely decorated. The Edinburgh Townhouse is at the 3rd floor so lot of stairsteps are to be climb to reach the reception and the rooms. The staff is very kind. Valerie gave us all information we needed. Only negative which I don't hold the Edinburgh Townhouse responsible for was loud construction noises on...

A very small, basic room with a noisy boiler right at the head of the bed. It is also right opposite the front door and reception, so ear plugs are definitely recommended. The bed was comfy and the room was dark.

Staying in New Town

Neighbourhood Profile
New Town
Suits and shopping bags rule the streets of New Town, until after dark when strappy dresses come out to play. This is the city’s central business district with its smaller offices, clothes boutiques, and many of the city’s flashiest restaurants and ritziest clubs. The architecture along roads like George Street helps give it a swank and formal feel: it’s a planned Georgian development of regal townhouses, geometric squares, and self-important statues. But it’s also a very wanderable neighbourhood, with a healthy bustle at almost any time of day and fine people-watching in places like St Andrew's Square which fills with picnickers around lunch. You’ll also find a series of cheerful basement bistros on Hanover Street, while dark Rose Street has something of the feel of an undiscovered back alley and is chock-full of characterful pubs and small independent shops.
