My husband and I stayed here last week for 3 nights. The guest house was lovely and Ursula was delightful. We highly enjoyed our cooked breakfasts, with 4 different choices (my favourites were the Highlander and Scottish breakfasts) plus yummy fruit, yoghurt, cereals, juices, toast, etc. Ursula will always try to fill you in on all the things to do... The guest house is located in a suburban area, in the district of Portobello, but is well connected to the historic center thanks to the bus line nr. 26; moreover, the hotel is quiet, close to the beach and with wide availability of parking. The room where we stayed, with a beautiful bow-window, is spacious and well equipped with all... More

This was my first stay in a B&B. I was really looking forward to the stay, and all my expectations were most certainly met at the Ardgarth Guest House. The entire place is clean, inviting and so well decorated. The rooms are inviting, with special touches like the coffee/tea making supplies and beautiful room decor. Ursula is the perfect hostess,... I'd never stayed at a B & B before, so I was somewhat apprehensive about our stay at Ardgarth B & B. The apprehension disappeared the minute I stepped inside and met the proprietor, Ursula. She made us feel right at home and you could tell she and her staff truly wanted to help us in every way possible and... More

Great hospitality, good price/quality. 30m from the city center, but you have the bus for 1.5 GBP. It's worth it. Ursula is a great host. One day I did not have time for breakfast and she prepared a takeaway so that I would not depart without breakfast.

My wife and I were on a 11-day trip through Scotland in May, 2015, and our journey began with three nights at Ardgarth. We loved it. Ursula was a terrific hostess: kind, patient, and knowledgable. Our room was quite comfortable and well-provisioned. The breakfasts were, I think, the best of our trip. Even the haggis was tasty! The area was... More

Stayed here for 3 nights in May. The room was advertised as wheelchair-accessible, and it was, with clearance under the bed for a hoist. Ursula willingly removed an armchair to make more space. Breakfast was magnificent. Portobello promenade is only two blocks away, for sea air, a fantastic view and an excellent restaurant. All the Edinburgh buses take wheelchairs. A... More

Stayed at the Ardgarth for 3 nights at the end of March. The double ensuite was warm, cosy immaculately clean and had everything we could ask for. Ursula is a great source of information about the local area and Edinburgh - and produces a marvellous Scottish breakfast to start the day. Although we thought the breakfast time was a little... Stayed at the Ardgarth for two nights over Easter. A lovely warm welcome from Ursula and a very comfortable room with all the facilities you would find in a good hotel. Excellent breakfast served by two very pleasant young members of staff. Easy parking. Would definitely recommend to anyone. Ursula also gave much appreciated community information to my daughter who... More

A couple of years ago we stayed at this quaint B&B steps from the beach and about a 10 minute bus ride to downtown Edinburgh. It's quiet. We didn't even know a sports team was also staying there until breakfast the next morning! Nice staff and the breakfast was filling.
