Stayed for 2 nights in large room on 4th Floor ( 2 lifts ) large bed and clean bathroom with a power shower. Staff very friendly and helpful with Maps and local information. Our room had original windows with new sliding windows as secondary glazing but only noise we heard was if ambulance came along Princes Street with sirens on....

Stayed at this Travelodge 16th and 17th January 2017 and were very lucky to be given room 705 which looked over the rooftops of Princes Street and beyond. The room was spacious for us, bathroom great and kettle and tea/coffee etc. provided. Bed was grand but the view was tremendous. At night the place was lit up and looking wonderful....

Hotel is very central, hidden down a back street just off Princes Street. The staff are smiley and helpful and the hotel is affordable- even for two uni students! We had a few small issues but nothing to ruin the trip- such as there was no hairdryer, the tv remote and desk lamp didn't work and there was a pubic...

Very handy for Waverley station and was only a few minutes walk. This hotel is very misleading from the outside it looks very dirty and dingey as the entrance is down an alleyway that was full of rubbish and people loitering. Once inside though it was everything you would expect from a travelodge. Its clean and had welcoming staff who...

Stayed for one night. Hotel is very close to the main train station, located down a (dark & gloomy) lane). Friendly and professional at reception, super-helpful staff too, as they helped me with a booking error with no fuss whatsoever. The rooms are about as basic as it can get, only really a desk, chair & a small area for...

Hotel is in a good location, don't be put off by the entrance being down an alley it is clean and well lit. The rooms are airy and clean and the staff couldn't be more helpful and friendly. The only downside is the wifi isn't free.

Stayed for 2 nights in room 508, usual Travel lodge basic room but pretty quiet from outside noise. What was outstanding about this Travel lodge were the staff. Everyone on the reception desk were very helpful and friendly and full of useful advice. Housekeeping staff were also polite and friendly. They made what was quite a stressful trip easier. Thank...

Great hotel, just round the corner from the station. They held bags pre and post check in/out so it made the trip hassle free. Staff were helpful and the room was comfy and clean. I would 100% stay here again.

Staying in Princes Street and Gardens

Neighbourhood Profile
Princes Street and Gardens
Glaswegians tease Edinburghers that their High Street is only half one, since buildings only line one side. But what they don’t say is how extraordinary the views are from Princes Street as a result. From here you look onto expansive and decorative public gardens beneath the mighty basalt cliffs on which Edinburgh’s Castle stands proud above the rest of the dramatic old town skyline. Yet many of those on Princes Street look the other way, as they’re concerned with chain store shopping or catching the tram or a train at main train station Waverley. But it’s not all utility here; the Scottish National Gallery rewards purposeless wandering, and December’s huge winter market in the gardens begins a season of revelry which ends with Hogmanay, Britain’s largest New Year’s street party.
