We recently stayed here for five nights. It's a lovely historical building, with lots of beautiful original wood accents and trims, but the modern elements that have been added, such as the clear acrylic Lobby desk, and light fixture above it that looks like a bunch of cotton balls affixed together, took away for the beauty and charm. I chose...

Visited as a surprise for my 60th birthday. When we arrived there was cake and a bottle of wine in our room! The room was compact but big enough with a comfortable bed and a nice bathroom. All areas of the hotel are well maintained and the wood panelling has been kept giving it a great Georgian feel. Breakfast was...

We stayed here for a long weekend in Edinburgh. A wonderful hotel located at just 5/10 minutes walking distance from the "West End" stop of the Airlink 100 bus. We stayed in room nr. 6, on 3rd floor, with stunning views of the Dean Village. Rooms are super clean and big. A mention to the staff is mandatory: Julio made...

We've stayed at the b+b property in London and thought we would give the b+b Edinburgh a try. We were not disappointed! It was a great stay. Location was perfect. Close enough to the royal Mile to walk but far enough away for a bit of peace and quiet.

Lovely hotel, room nicely furnished, with view of Edinburgh Castle. Quiet location, close to Haymarket Station (5 minutes walk). Good breakfast, plenty of choice - even for a vegetarian. Reception staff very helpful and welcoming - despite my arrival late in the evening.

My wife and I stayed at the B+B Edinburgh in August 2016 prior to taking a bus tour of the Scottish highlands. We would happily return to this B+B again if we return to Edinburgh. And we would certainly recommend to our friends.

I have stayed twice in this beautiful former grand home. Friendly helpful staff, beautiful library and bar for gathering with fellow guests. Excellent breakfasts and lovely views from rooms in back. 25 minute walk to central Edinburgh, and lovely neighborhood and paths right outside the B+B. Would stay again but not in room #015 -- too small!!!

Staying in West End

Neighbourhood Profile
West End
Prevailing winds meant that most cities that grew in industrial Britain had their most desirable neighbourhoods to the west – upwind of factory fumes. Edinburgh was no exception, with its wealthiest citizens settling in its West End and leaving behind grand Georgian townhouses, private gardens and genteel crescents. These backstreets remain as dignified and sleepy as ever, and most of the action here lies along the district’s busy main roads. Lothian Road connects to southern Edinburgh and harbors a vague entertainment district: three theatres and the city’s main indie cinema. All attract a select crowd, the sort who appreciate the Saturday Edinburgh’s Farmers’ Market around the corner. The West End’s other great thoroughfare, Shandwick Place, is dominated by trams trundling out to the suburbs and airport, and shoppers picking up last-minute items before hopping aboard.
