We really enjoyed this hotel. Definitely constructed with Millennials in mind. Full kitchen, large living room and good sized bedroom. Within walking distance of the Royal Mile. Staff was exceptional. Marieke went over and above to help us out on a couple of occasions. Yessie at the bar was extremely cordial and knowledgeable Breakfast was great..

The hotel is nice, clean and roomy - with large spacey suites. The breakfast room was nice and light and the breakfast great. The hotel lies in a construction area and we had a room with a lot of noice outside. This was the only downside. The staff were very friendly.

We stayed six nights at this Residence Inn in the early spring and we found the hotel to be perfectly situated, an invigorating ten-minute walk to the Royal Mile. Our one-bedroom room was very comfortable and the wait staff were friendly and attentive. The front desk personnel went "above and beyond" helping us with last-minute excursions. When we returned from...

Fantastic nights sleep in a large luxury suite with king sized bed and kitchenette area. The room is light due to lots of street lighting but that didn't bother us. Shame breakfast wasn't as luxurious. Held in the cramped reception area the food and drink is completely help yourself with no table service. Scrambled and pre-boiled eggs are only available....

The GPS took us in circles for 30 minutes, and after we called the hotel the receptionist gave us a different post code, which took us to the property; probably because there is a lot of construction going on in the Quartermile section. The staff helped us carry the luggage, and made the check in process easy. The room was...

Staying in Southside & Holyrood

Neighbourhood Profile
Southside & Holyrood
Many of Edinburgh’s student hangouts gather around university buildings in Southside, the sort of neighbourhood that supports a long string of second-hand shops and eateries serving ethnic food for just a few pounds. In August the student population is replaced by vast numbers of boisterous visitors here for the Fringe, Edinburgh’s world-class comedy and arts festival which headquarters itself here. Flanking Southside are two great parks. The Meadows is a vast flat and sporty space where football, rugby, tennis, cricket, croquet, and golf often all take place side by side. Kids in its big playgrounds add to the joyful noise. Far bigger and much wilder, Holyrood Park extends to the east and provides a real hike up Arthur’s Seat, but the district is best known as the site of Scotland’s Parliament and its premier Royal Palace—and their steady stream of sightseers.
