This hotel is nice with a good location all attractions at walking distance. Good breakfast in the morning, Good point to this hotel is that Starbucks is at the corner of the hotel and a grocery store next to it. It is not a luxury hotel but very clean and convenient. I highly recommend this hotel.

My sister and I stayed in a twin room. The room was nice. The beds were a double bed x2 room. Having the kitchenette the was very handy to have on the occasion that a person did not want to eat out. The loo on the other hand made noises when sitting down. Feared that the loo was going to...

I thought being a hotel vs b&b it wouldn't feel as warm. I was wrong. From the moment we checked in to the moment we checked out we were greeted at the front desk with warmth and familiarity. This is a newer hotel and quite well located for sight seeing. Kind of an odd place though, in that it is cold and soulless, as another reviewer said. Also not really a Residence Inn as I have known - there is no cooking equipment other than a microwave, small refrig, NO AIR CONDITIONING, and the rooms a very small...

Second stay here. I like the facilities in the room - microwave, dishwasher, crockery and cutlery. Great location. Walking distance even to Princes Street. Starbucks, small supermarket and restaurants nearby. The staff are great. Mailed a package for me. Attentive and helpful when the washing machine broke. I like a corner room. They are spacious. Not sure I'd be so...

This was an excellent selected hotel that was close to Old town, Royal Mile. The walk was by the University and was only ten minutes to the Royal Mile. Two employees that were so friendly and professional were Paul and Gillian. The room was quiet and clean and spacious. It is also very affordable with an included breakfast.

Staying in Southside & Holyrood

Neighbourhood Profile
Southside & Holyrood
Many of Edinburgh’s student hangouts gather around university buildings in Southside, the sort of neighbourhood that supports a long string of second-hand shops and eateries serving ethnic food for just a few pounds. In August the student population is replaced by vast numbers of boisterous visitors here for the Fringe, Edinburgh’s world-class comedy and arts festival which headquarters itself here. Flanking Southside are two great parks. The Meadows is a vast flat and sporty space where football, rugby, tennis, cricket, croquet, and golf often all take place side by side. Kids in its big playgrounds add to the joyful noise. Far bigger and much wilder, Holyrood Park extends to the east and provides a real hike up Arthur’s Seat, but the district is best known as the site of Scotland’s Parliament and its premier Royal Palace—and their steady stream of sightseers.
