Quiet location, super friendly and helpful staff, good breakfast and a great location. WiFi wasn't the greatest, but they're trying to fix it. Busses just outside give grateful access to anywhere you want to go.

The hostel is in a great location. It was very easy to find. The Royal Mile is just about a 5-10 minute walk away. When we arrived at the hostel check-in was very smooth. However, once we went to our room, one of the bed that was meant to be ours had not been stripped. It was obvious that no...

Haggis was the perfect hostel because it was very very close to the train station, and super walkable to everything like the Holyrood Park and the castle. I had a great stay! The staff was very helpful.

I allways use this hostel as a "transfer location" when I go to the the lovely Cairngorms. It's really a nice place to stay, clean and very friendly staff. Not really cheap, but okay. If you wake up early then you will have an okay breakfast, if you running late you'll only have some toast.

Perfect hostel for visiting Edinburgh, within 3 minutes from the train station and a 10 minute walk into the old town. Nice a clean and good kitchen facilities the rooms are as you would expect but you're only sleeping in them. All in all a great place and if I visit Edinburgh again it will be my first choice.

Haggis hostels was a godsend. My friend and I had gotten stranded in Edinburgh for the night (not that, that was an issue in the least!). We had the fortune of being able to stay here last minute. The staff where incredibly helpful, and polite. The facilities on there own where awesome, soft beds, clean sheets, and even better clean...

Staying in New Town

Neighbourhood Profile
New Town
Suits and shopping bags rule the streets of New Town, until after dark when strappy dresses come out to play. This is the city’s central business district with its smaller offices, clothes boutiques, and many of the city’s flashiest restaurants and ritziest clubs. The architecture along roads like George Street helps give it a swank and formal feel: it’s a planned Georgian development of regal townhouses, geometric squares, and self-important statues. But it’s also a very wanderable neighbourhood, with a healthy bustle at almost any time of day and fine people-watching in places like St Andrew's Square which fills with picnickers around lunch. You’ll also find a series of cheerful basement bistros on Hanover Street, while dark Rose Street has something of the feel of an undiscovered back alley and is chock-full of characterful pubs and small independent shops.
