The beef dish for 2 is over the top (beef cote). Great service and wonderful wines. Pricey but worth it. Trust the wait staff advice....and the Beef Cote is more than enough for 2 ...pass on the appy's. Despite the price.... I would go back as it was a wonderful food and service experience.

Had a great stay - hotel is beautiful, staff is attentive to every detail - room was spacious with a great view, Edinburgh Castle in one direction and Salisbury Crags on the other - and the scotch bar is worth a visit - this has got to be the best location in the city - right next door to Waverly...

The afternoon tea was as fantastic as expected. Pricy but obviously you pay for the setting as well. Reservation reccomended, I did book a table one month before travelling to Edinburgh and the tables were almost all booked already!

Stayed here for a weekend trip to Edinburgh. Truly a luxurious hotel. Apart for the warm hospitality, it is literally 10 steps from the main train station and in the centre of the city so ideal for on foot short excursions of the city. I wanted to try their "number one" restaurant but unfortunately could not get reservation so would...

The good part is the building itself is quite beautiful. But it pretty much ends there. We had a so-so room that definitely did not feel like it was an 5-star room, and that paled in comparison to other Rocco Forte properties. The bathroom was a bit better than the bedroom, with Murdock products and nice towels. Our room faced...

I didn't stay overnight in the hotel but attended a function back in May. I'm vegan (sorry) and was so grateful for the variety of taste and sensation offered to me via the three courses- it was a far cry from a few green leaves and a bowl of rice that I've been given before in other establishments! The building...

The service, attention to detail and friendliness of all the staff was second to none. My only disappointment was the extremely greasy hot choice of breakfast. The cold collation was extensive and of the quality one would expect of this standard of hotel. The position of the hotel is superb for the main attractions of Edinburgh and easy to reach...

Initial impressions were good. Lovely building and interesting eats in the Palm Court. Becam a bit uneasy as we checked in and suspect the communication amongst staff and record keeping is not the best. We had booked a single room and a double room. We were 2 females and one male with the same surname. They assumed the double room...

Staying in Princes Street and Gardens

Neighbourhood Profile
Princes Street and Gardens
Glaswegians tease Edinburghers that their High Street is only half one, since buildings only line one side. But what they don’t say is how extraordinary the views are from Princes Street as a result. From here you look onto expansive and decorative public gardens beneath the mighty basalt cliffs on which Edinburgh’s Castle stands proud above the rest of the dramatic old town skyline. Yet many of those on Princes Street look the other way, as they’re concerned with chain store shopping or catching the tram or a train at main train station Waverley. But it’s not all utility here; the Scottish National Gallery rewards purposeless wandering, and December’s huge winter market in the gardens begins a season of revelry which ends with Hogmanay, Britain’s largest New Year’s street party.
